I have a feeling that a few seasons/episodes/content packs/poopshits from now, a random Braytech-flavored exotic is gonna come out of nowhere and people will realize that it was originally the Vesper's Host exotic before they hurriedly swapped it out with Icebreaker

I posted this in the Halo thread, but belongs more here:

Earlier this year, Bungie laid off 220 employees, bringing its headcount down to approximately 850 from a peak of 1,600 just a year ago.
Here’s a look at Bungie’s current and former C-suite:
  • Chief Executive Officer: Pete Parsons
  • Chief Development Officer: Justin Truman
  • Chief Technology Officer: Luis Villegas (Transitioned to PlayStation as Head of Technology)
  • Chief Financial Officer: Danielle Porter
  • Chief Vision Officer: Jason Jones
  • Chief Strategy Officer: Ondraus Jenkins (Left in October 2024 per LinkedIn profile)
  • Chief Creative Officer: Jonny Ebbert (Left, according to X profile)
  • Chief Operating/People Officer:Holly Barbacovi (Left July 2024 – Joined Hasbro as Chief People Officer)
    • Barbacovi was serving as the Chief People Officer until March 2024.
  • Chief Legal Officer: Don McGowan (laid off in October 2023)

And this would be familiar to Marty, who may have a bit of schadenfreude

In other Bungie-related news, former director Chris Barrett has filed a lawsuit against the Destiny developer and Sony Interactive Entertainment, alleging wrongful termination to avoid paying Barrett $45 million.

Episode Revenant, and by extension the whole Eliksni/Scorn storyline just had its grand finale.
We raid Fikrul's Castle for one last time, this time with the goal of truly and honestly killing him. We find him in his usual state, rambling like a homeless bum on a New York street corner, but this time around Mithrax is acting similarly with his curse finally taking hold of him. We blast through some Scorn, Mithrax says more spooky stuff, and we inject Fikrul with some Extra-Strength Fentanyl, after which he unceremoniously dies. With its wielder now dead, the Revenant Echo floats upward. Mithrax and Eramis make a break for it, and when they're about to grab it, it explodes and we enter a sort of dream sequence. And then...
The Echo chooses Eramis to be the new Kell of Kells.
We snap back to reality. Mithrax, fully taken over by the curse, is beside himself with anger and shouting about how the Echo chose her despite everything he'd done for his people (he's right you know). Then Eramis blasts him with a beam of light and the curse is gone, Mithrax recognizes his new Kell, and everything is lovely once again.
To recap, Mithrax saved his species from the brink of extinction by working diplomatically with humanity and securing a section of the Last City for the House of Light, the faction he led. He and the House then fought alongside us as unwavering allies while the civilian Eliksni population slowly recovered in the City. He also willingly became cursed in the process of saving one of our closest allies. He led a House of Light detachment in the final battle against The Witness, then got right back to leading and rebuilding once it was defeated despite becoming physically ill from his curse.
Eramis was a despot who took over Europa after gaining Darkness powers from cooperating with the Witness, forming the other major Eliksni faction in the process. The living conditions she created were terrible enough that civilians started fleeing in droves, even moreso once the House of Light was established in the City. She was put down by us and encased in ice, but some time later she ended up coming back and attempted to form an insurgency of pirates, despite her stated motivation being to rebuild Eliksni society. We put this down even quicker. Having failed twice, The Witness then mind-raped half of the people still under her rule, to which she responded by still cooperating with The Witness and indirectly getting Rasputin killed after she tried to hack into him to shoot down the Traveler. Shortly afterwards, she begins to truly fight against the Witness by getting another major ally killed and barely saving Mithrax from a series of events she easily could have prevented. Then, in her species-saving bravery, she took a few of her loyalists and fled the solar system to make sure she's well out of the way of the incoming war against The Witness. It's worth noting here that we fight against the last of her faction in The Final Shape, meaning she not only ran like a coward, but left her entire army behind in the process.
Guess which one was chosen to be the new Mandate-of-Heaven Great Leader of the species.
Not sure whether I'm feeling MATI or apathetic. Leaning toward apathetic, I stopped closely following the story after Final Shape ended. I don't want to find out what they do with the Hive Gods in Heresy if it's gonna be as gay as what they did with the Eliksni.

This game has been squatting on 130 GB of my hard drive for long enough.

It's obvious that it was going to be Eramis after Season of Plunder when she spared Mithrax. The writing staff hired that faggot Robert Brookes and pretty much every character since has either been retconned into being gay like Osiris, Saint-14 and the retconning of characters like Chelchis, Kell of Stone into females.

It doesn't matter how nonsensical it is or how contrived it might seem the women/gay/tranny will always be shoved in the spotlight. Mithrax was the obvious Arbiter equivalent in Destiny's story but they cucked him out because they had an empowered lesbian space pirate to placate. Also Mithrax has never been implied to be gay so he doesn't get anything.

Im glad that eramis is gone again after episode revenant but it makes no sense for her to get the kell of kells title instead of mithrax who was the actual house of light leader that saved fallen from her actual totalitarian regime where she’d have killed them arbitrarily and also tried to kill us in beyond light. Yeah thats good guy material cuz female. As if women aren’t capable of being irredeemable monsters or competent bad guys too.

The real problem is how neglectful and lazy bungie has been relegating most of the loot to eververse in a non F2P game compared to vicarious visions and other activision studios that gave us forsaken and other memorable moments that were one offs because of bungie’s DCV.

Seems like a red flag in hindsight when activision just let them go without a fight. They must have been horrible to work with.

What a shame, another squandered franchise. I haven't played since the middle of the first season this year because it was boring slop.

Its ok, I have a solution all you have to do is:

1.) Retcon about 6 more characters into faggots, to get people re-invested in the story.

2.) Sunset all items a second time. To get people re-invested into the gameplay.

That is sure to fix everything I guarentee, hire me bingo.

I'm gonna be real with y'all, I gave up the moment they mentioned "Content Vault" because I knew they'd throw shit in there and it would never be seen again.
Anybody that stayed behind afterward is literally a soulless golem. Its one thing for a game to be bad but to actively robb people of content they cared for is Blizzard level of soulless Judaic. Funnily that was the same year Warcraft III got turned into the abortion rendering the real Warcraft III inaccessible forever.

This tbh, completely killed all hype in the IP for me when I found out there was literally content that was once in D2 that I can't play anymore.

I just want a game that fills the looter shooter niche like D2 or Firefall and isn't as spastically overwhelming as Warframe.
Perhaps one day it will exist.

Also, that Joker dude wasn't bullied enough in school and it shows.

there's first descendant, it has some rough edges and obviously not the amount of 10 years of warframe content, but it's a nice "turn brain off and farm shit" game, especially if you don't nolife it. you need to be able to stomach tits and ass tho.

granblue relink kinda if you're more into party-based monhun, but it's a standalone game, not live service.

I tried First Descendant, but it just didn't click. Something about the gunplay and general combat felt off (maybe due to UE5 as @Miller said). Might give it another shot, and to be fair to Joker despite his obnoxious voice and delivery, calling TFD a "gooner shooter" is pretty funny. Might try Granblue, though.
My one remaining hope is for a private server. Destiny may happen one day in the far future, but there's early work on reverse-engineering Firefall so that might exist in a decade.
