I think we should also mention the defeners that say that they hate black culture but not black people and only like Eminem because he's white.
It's not Eminem anymore, it's Macklemore now.

The reason the "Dark ages" got it's name was because some Italians were butthurt because they were not living in classical Rome.
one thing I enjoy about Le90's kids is that they claim that music back then wasn't all about sex.
guess all they listen to is Mainstream shit like Queen and Beatles.

I used to help run sound at a folk venue where "yelling out the body count" was the thing to do at trad shows. Those Child ballads are grim, yo.(Beautiful Celtic harp & drum music plays in the background, overlaid with a wonderful women's alto voice, singing in Gaelic...)
Me: "That's lovely honey, it's so pretty and calm, what is it about?"
The Knife: "Oh, that's the ballad of (something unpronounceable in Gaelic), It's about a woman who's man goes off to war, and then she is raped by the king's messenger who brought her the letter about her husband dying, then her kids and her starve to death because the occupying British solders in her house ate all their food."
Me: "Oh, okay."![]()
One can argue that The Beatles (up until Sgt. Pepper anyways) were also a boy band.I remember the 90's having so many boy bands (I remember listening to NSync as a kid).
You think One Direction is the first to do this? Think again.

To be fair the lyrics are in Spanish. But I think it's funny as hell because this was a song the music teachers actually had on hand in the music classroom to occasionally play. All I ever knew was

Le 90's kids doesn't just end with Music.
it also applies to Video Games and probably movies.
I've seen kids on youtube claim that they wish they were born in the 80's/90's when video games was better and punched kids in the face for thinking that "Halo is better than Kid Icarus"
You'd make a better case arguing it about The Monkees, who were much more of a "boy band" in the usually understood sense (assembled by a promoter from auditions). And The Monkees were awesome as hell. One can argue that The Beatles (up until Sgt. Pepper anyways) were also a boy band.
That rage comic is the most not happening thing that never happened. This just seems like a case of greener pastures honestly.
I do think there is a creative lull in media at the moment, specifically in music, film, and books. There's a lot of rehashing going on, old guard types trying to find formulas in an increasingly unpredictable market. I don't think this is a permeant problem, I think the industry is just struggling to figure out where it stands in a post-internet world.
There's still good music out there, it just doesn't end up on the radio.
