I guess Survivor doesn't have its own thread, I also found out GSG are making an FPS roguelite spinoff of base DRG. It being a 1-4 player coop makes me worried that they're aiming for the FOTM streamer friendslop shit. I don't even know how would you balance a 4 player roguelite coop. I know Isaac did it and it wasn't exactly a smash hit.
Anyway, bought Survivor last weekend. I've been made aware of it quite some time ago through Vincent Sauce, and I really wasn't impressed (mostly becaue Vinny sucks at games that aren't Nintendoslop), and ironically what won me over was a review that said the game was too hard and grindy. Installed it, died twice as Scout on stage 5 (no HP regen and no piercing/aoe does that do a dwarf), unlocked the Gunner, completed the dive thanks to like 60 armor, unlocked Engie, steamrolled a biome, unlocked Driller, steamrolled another. I've been having a shitload of fun, Survivor scratches basically all the itches left by DRG while cutting down on the frustrating elements of it, i.e. not having to babysit 3 other retards, yelling at the Scout who doesn't use his fucking flares, Gunner who forgets that he has a shield, Engie not plugging holes with platforms, falling to your death through a needle-sized hole or hardly any nitra spawning throughout the whole mission/dive.
A lot of quirks DRG had carried over. Scout is super weak and basically fucking useless, Gunner is a step up from him, Engie and Driller are absolute killing machines. The Subata is still the worst weapon in the game, to the point where if you're using the Driller loadout that starts with it, your best bet is just to ignore it completely in favor of literally any other upgrade on level up.
The only gripe I have is secondary objective resources being too scarce and the minimap being too small. I've often found myself being 80% done with the boss only to notice that I left the secondary basically untouched. They might need to revamp the reward to make it actually enticing, since at the moment it's just a bit of XP and gold.
It's on sale for $9 right now. If you like either DRG or Vampire Survivors, get it.
