Even if you wanted to grant them giving Kai 2 dozen feats that he didn't even actually accomplish, as autistic as it is, Tahu still clears easily. The Vahi, as far as its connection to Tahu is concerned, is a one-off mask used mostly as a distraction by Tahu in the middle of a filler arc. However, db made it an absolute cornerstone of his kit basically as a shorthand of "This is his best thing, and it SUCKS! Now, we don't have to give any justification for Kai overcoming anything else in Tahu's arsenal, even though plenty of them are stronger and more applicable."I like Ninjago, but even I know they're overplaying Kai's feats and victories.
The Great Devourer? The ninja technically didn't defeat it. They just lured it into a position for Garmadon to strike it while using all four Golden Weapons. That's how he got the Megaweapon that Kai supposedly turned into a star.
Karlof? He basically lost that fight, but it wasn't a battle of pure strength. The Tournament of Elements was a game of wits, which the footage showed by playing a clip of Kai winning by stealing the Jade Blade needed to advance to the next round.
Nadakhan? They never fought 1-on-1, and Nadakhan only lifted mountains to create a new Djinjago to rule with his wife while she possessed Kai's sister Nya and gave him the ability to grant his own wishes before he was poisoned and forced to grant Jay's wish that would undo the events of the entire season.
(People joke about Bionicle lore, but Ninjago lore is pretty fucking confusing at times.)
The point I'm trying to make is that a good chunk of the villains in Ninjago are beat by the ninja outsmarting them, not with the power they claim characters like Kai have.
I guess the reason I'm so disappointed is that I don't really see much difference between a billion dollar corporation digging up the corpse of something I enjoyed deeply in the past for a cynical, disrespectful marketing stunt that they put no thought or effort into, and a million dollar independent internet company digging up the corpse of something I enjoyed deeply in the past for a cynical, disrespectful marketing stunt that they put no thought or effort into.
