Undoubtedly. Sitll, i just don't see how Kai wins. Tahu can just use a nova blast, which when Gali used it, was enough to split Karazani (the island) in half.
I know nothing about Bionicle, but I'm guessing they're going to give Kai pretty much every power and weapon he had at one point (the writers have forgotten about a lot of things he can do over the years), even if nothing he ever did on his own reached that level of destruction.

They tried the Nova Blast in the match. Something about Kai making a star makes that better. Sigh.

Okay, I watched that episode around the time it aired, and that's complete bullshit. The ninja were able to destroy the Megaweapon through time travel shenanigans, but it was a team effort. Even when Lloyd got the full power of Creation comparible to the Golden Weapons, he couldn't create a star, and the whole reason Kai has fire powers is through Lloyd sharing some of his own with the team.

Also, the djinn Nadakhan never really used a ton of mountain-lifting powers against the ninja. I think the only time Kai (along with the other ninja) directly fought him was after he unlocked the ability to grant his own wishes, and Nadakhan just spammed "I wish you still!" blasts. They weren't trying to beat him head-on, but rather, poison him and trick him into reverse-Jafar-ing himself. There's also the minor issue that the season technically never happened thanks to Jay's last wish preventing anyone from ever freeing Nadakhan.

Finally, the Dragon Form wasn't exactly something Kai could just turn on and off at will. There was a prophecy that the ninja had to fulfil during the final battle involving COCK (The Council of the Crystal King). It's not as simple as Tahu putting on the Golden Armor. If you wanted to use a super mode, why not show Kai using one of his mechs, tapping into his true potential, or summoning his elemental dragon?

I'll admit Kai taking a moment to admire his reflection in the ice Tahu created is funny and very much in-character for him.

I deserve all the puzzle pieces for this, but other than the neat stop motion animation, by far the worst death battle of all time. Hell, I think powerscaling nuclear arms races are stupid, but if you're going to do it, do it for both characters. I was expecting a really retarded justification for Kai winning, Ninjago is far more popular, more recent, and with a more active fanbase, and death battle will move heaven and earth if it means the more popular character wins, I get that. What I got though was a cynical, zero-effort slopfest that didn't even bother to try and justify itself. If you're going to bullshit me, then bullshit me. Pull the wool over my eyes, bring out every smoke and mirrors trick in your arsenal, don't just fucking say "coughing baby beats hydrogen bomb cuz there are more coughing baby stans".

I could write out a borderline novel about every single thing death battle got wrong, but what's the point? It's not like I'm correcting genuine mistakes, every sentence I write is more effort than they put into it. Over a million raised in various crowdfunding campaigns, not to mention sponsorships, youtube payouts, merch, etc, but apparently a 5 second google search "just wasn't in the budget".

I like Ninjago, but even I know they're overplaying Kai's feats and victories.

The Great Devourer? The ninja technically didn't defeat it. They just lured it into a position for Garmadon to strike it while using all four Golden Weapons. That's how he got the Megaweapon that Kai supposedly turned into a star.

Karlof? He basically lost that fight, but it wasn't a battle of pure strength. The Tournament of Elements was a game of wits, which the footage showed by playing a clip of Kai winning by stealing the Jade Blade needed to advance to the next round.

Nadakhan? They never fought 1-on-1, and Nadakhan only lifted mountains to create a new Djinjago to rule with his wife while she possessed Kai's sister Nya and gave him the ability to grant his own wishes before he was poisoned and forced to grant Jay's wish that would undo the events of the entire season.

(People joke about Bionicle lore, but Ninjago lore is pretty fucking confusing at times.)

The point I'm trying to make is that a good chunk of the villains in Ninjago are beat by the ninja outsmarting them, not with the power they claim characters like Kai have.
