This guy is super suspicious. I think he does basic content reading patches and stuff to establish himself in the community to subvert it towards the left. If you watch his interviews he hates the ‘toxic’ side of the community and wants more ‘diversity.’ HE GLOWS IN THE DARK.
He also seems to have a massive hate boner for the less serious side of the community, notably he's been very assmad towards JoeChuck and I think CF3 as well, pretty much any meme tier content creator seems to find themselves on the receiving end of a faggy mald session from Deathy on his podcast. I do wonder if a part of this stems from such creators being viewed by him as somewhat "chud adjacent", which on the face of it is fucking ridiculous given how safe edgy most of the meme creators are, but even being tangentially related to chan meme culture is enough to make a turbo Nazi in the eyes of a fag like Deathy.

Deathy is the poster boy for night shift wannabes that will stab you in the gut for daring to have fun rather than metaslop

I dunno why they insist pocket is not a guy when even his place in the plot is pretty intrinsically tied into him being male (heir to a fortune, groom who got cold feet). Maybe it is meant to represent how he doesnt feel like the right fit for those roles, but that doesnt change that we can see the character design and hear the voice acting.

I hate complaining about this, but something is wrong with that Rat, i dunno if it's supposed to be like this but he's constantly casting his ult, and like others say he doesn't die. It feels like in games when he's chosen (every game), when he's killed we have no problem steamrolling the other team, but when he's around, mother fucker easily wins for them. I haven't played him so maybe there's some nuance to him but yea, feels wrong so far.

To play devil’s advocate, even as someone that toys with trying to learn Doorman and Sinclair, fighting them when they’re doing kidnap bullshit can be the most unfun thing imaginable.

To further add to this, there's lines clearly stating that Pocket is going into the ritual to get the wish of taking over fairfax and have it be "less evil" and that Mcginnis was sent by Pocket's dad to keep an eye out on his son, Mo and Krill apparently went in because they wanted to help Pocket and that he was hanging out with them in the sewers post failed assassination via calico. Interesting thing is, drifter mentions to pocket about how he's not as pacifistic as he pretends to be and there's voicelines from Pocket embracing his inner murder hobo if he has a kill streak going. So obviously the plot point being that Pocket isn't as he thinks he is and as soon as he starts racking up the kills starts power tripping and is actually more similar to his dad than he thought he was. I actually like this, it's good writing that isn't all up in your face MCU tier shit. The they/them shit seems so bolted on and haphazardly done in comparison to everything else regarding Pocket, it makes me wonder what might have made that be a thing. If anything the They/Them shit would be best applied to Viscous and make the most sense.

So his kit is very focused on the ult, everything else but the armor is kinda ass. the ult carries the whole character and there just flat out isn't any real counter play once he drops the flag. If they're not retarded then they'd go in on superior duration + greater expansion. The straight damage reduction is insane for team fights, rift, base, whatever. If they get those items the flag AOE can cover the entire damn base, it's that fucking yuge. I've been really enjoying stealing it though as sinclair even though it's bugged for sinclair (the ult doesn't make rats, still gives the dmg reduction though). He has like a 60% WR rn iirc. They might just have to hot fix his ult.

Had a Sinclair game vs a rat who had cheat death, ethereal shift and also metal skin. Holy shit that was irritating, also a bad way to learn about Sinclair's ult steal with him being bugged.

Most effective shutdown I've seen of him is a Doorman buying warpstone just so he could immediately run at rat whenever he heard the ult callout. Definitely getting hotfixed soon.

I get the impression that he either is, or was, the self-insert/OC of a gender fag dev, brooding wasian with anime hair and a mysterious past is very on par for that, or he's the bone that management threw to the more political charged members of the dev team to make up for them having to put up with chuds like me in the game's fan base.

What I do find unusual about Pocket's pronoun nonsense is how understated it is, and how completely absent it is from his actual character. Almost all tranny/tranny adjacent characters always end up being excessively obnoxious about it, much like trannies themselves. So the fact that Pockets faggotry is literally never addressed at all in dialogue is really strange to me, as I'd expect him to have at least half a dozen lines mentioning how stunning and brave he is by now.

My suspicion at the moment is that whoever in Valve wrote him to be a gender thing either left or moved on to a different area of development, hence the 'was', and now they're stuck with this hot potato of lore that they don't really know what to do with. They can't retcon it without sending the Reddit fags into a frenzy, and probably inviting a couple of very pointed articles from an already hostile games media about trans errasure, #TransGenocide, so they'll probably end up just ignoring it and never addressing it directly. Or Yoshi could post an image of Pocket in a tranny flag dress curb stomping a chudjak like the scene from American History X, but only time will tell.

Yeah that sounds plausible, honestly the most trans coded character so far has been celeste and with how annoying her ult has been as of late I could in fact see it being a tranny self insert.

I'm enjoying playing the rat while I can he's basically better warden
You do have to get used to how slow he is, I was used to being able escape after fucking with people as billy but as rat you have to make sure you're not caught with your pants down when the enemy teams gets you

With the new conversations it’s also heavily implied that Maximilian may have actually orchestrated the assassination to fail on purpose.

We know calico missed on purpose and set up M&K to take care of pocket after the fact. We also know from Miku that Airins mother and sister are very moralfags as well that try to prevent her from making the ixian children mulcher 9000. Maximilian is a man who’s always been characterized as obsessed with his legacy more than anything so my theory is that it’s all an elaborate plot to toughen pocket up by Max and further the legacy of House Fairfax.

Back in the NDA days the theory was that Arin was actually just dead and possesed by the souls inside the briefcase (as evident by his lines and the black corruption on his hand on the old model). Hence why the they/them, since he was basically the biblical Legion. Plus a reference to DOTA’s puck since pocket is based on them. The old Geist VN even referred to pocket as he/him.

I think now they’re just genuinely afraid to change it since the gender specials latched onto it, Celeste used to have a kill line referring to him as ‘He’ and people went mad and it was removed in a day. Imagine the shit storm if they changed it now.

It’s actually paradox IMO. Nade makes his ult a danger zone or cancels it out, wall is good against his bomb and rats or if he charges you with banner. Carbine deals over a thousand damage late game so it can chew through him and swap allows you to either pull him out of position while he’s charging or drag the whole team out of the aura at T3. All this while you’re far away from him and faster so he can’t really touch you.

It feels nice to have my first main be viable again.

I'm actually surprised it wasn't built like the gravestone from day 1 (i.e. 2 heavy melees). Considering that it has more of an effect than gravestone, it seems unfair that the only thing you can do is run away and let the enemy team take the walker/shrine/whatever for free.

I like the pocket as legion theory. That or some fullmetal alchemist body-possession nonsense by whatever's in the briefcase would actually fit with the lore.

Re : Doorman and Rat ult, I meant blinking on him as soon as he jumps after the launch since you can't really be sure where he's going to pop ult but you can be reasonably aware where he wants it to end up and position for that.

Another really funny one I've seen is Rem snap-ulting in response to him ulting, if he gets slept during the charge he doesn't stop charging, he just can't control it and generally winds up way way behind the guardian/walker by the time he can move again.
