I'm new to MOBA games in general and my friends got me to try it. Even prior to playing I watched some deathy guides on it and even then the learning curve felt so high. The movement feels great for the most part at least on infernus and drifter. I played a few games and each game ranged from 25-30 minutes. It didn't feel like that long had passed which I suppose is a good and bad thing; good in how immersive it is, bad in how I spent 30 min getting my shit kicked in.

I can immediately tell I don't have the experience and game sense to know what i'm doing on lanes or when I should be running around killing, or when to engage against other players. I've been using some of the steam recommended builds and basically following them in best as I can. I know that you're meant to make alterations based on the enemies but at this point I don't even know enough to know what i'm doing let alone the nuances of builds.

It seems like this game is going to needs 10s of hours on my end to actually learn the mechanics of the game and what a MOBA even is and have some game sense. I don't know if I even want to make that dedication.

This is basically all MOBA, so Deadlock is nothing new in that regard. You definitely want to consider if you feel like grinding the hours in before finally "getting gud". I don't have that, so despite having an invite and having the game installed to shit around in, I'm not actively playing yet.

Yeah that tracks. My issue is that I just don't have the desire give up my free time on weekends to actively learn not only how a MOBA works/plays but also this one in particular and it seems like patches are rolling in now so things are shifting around. I do appreciate how deep the mechanics of it are though but that's just more shit I gotta learn. After work/classes I want a mental relaxant/distraction learning a MOBA feels like picking up a second job currently albeit a very fun one.

I've liked infernus a fair bit but honestly drifter has had hilarious voice lines, just being an open and out predator is absurdly funny to me.

I just read some deadlock lore

And it has its own nazi chud group called "friends of humanity", who is hunted by vindicta and grey talon. This explains the sweet baby and Valve partnership way back, only time will tell if they give us a hero from that "group"
There will be more likely than not a character from the friends of humanity, and when they come out with it i hope they do not pussy out on the visual identity of being an actual inquisitorial order with the pointy hats and all, considering they were the ones burning witches.

I think so too, because they strongly made them as an allegory of the "far right" as they call them "neo inquisation" which literally means neo nazis and "stopping funds to ixia" clearly an allegory for the Ukraine war, cause they even removed a Hero called Wrecker who was the "butcher of Ixia" so they can remove any form of pro Russian sentiment. Its like a fly in the soup for me, lets see how the devs go forward with this.

I'm afraid there's no substitute for in game experience when it comes to learning these things. Even in high elo people can still struggle with macro decisions.

Hope Wrecker hasn't been shelved permanently. The exploration of how war would be waged if magic was real is really interesting.

I got an invite for this about a year ago but never gave it a try. The latest update got me tempted though. Any tips for a MOBA retard?

Play bot matches. This is the best advice. Play single play bot matches, dozens, then co-op bot matches, dozens. There is so much going on that in your first real match you're going to be carried even with tons of bot practice.

Man just know there are gay ass fags who have no idea about geopolitics hooked and drunk "ze Israel palestroon" juice who will give the most basic gay ass allegory known to man like the friends of humanity, Useless lore lmao.

I don't think they will shy away from that given that Mcginnis is the brain of the soul industrial military complex and pockets father (ginnis boss) has been hinted at being a future character for a while now.

I'm once again evangelizing the gospel on why Valve should add a fairy as a character. Come on Valve, we know it's your weakness, you've tried making your fairy magnum opus game twice already, you can hit two out of two on smarmy cunt fae with a cancerous kit. In the Deadlock setting you can have them as moondust cartels even, smugglers taking children over the dimension border, something cool.

Also there are now tunnels for Rem, just add a ratman/Skaven hero like it has been suggested a hundred times already. Fat fuck mafioso boss with a cigar and a Tommy, wagie in the rat race, whatever.

Speaking of heroes, why did they release Apollo at such a weak state? Everyone else in this update was turbocancer on release but he's so undertuned. I love his mobile playstyle but man he's dreadfully unfinished, his animations are borrowed, his footwork for fencing is all wrong, and he just gets stunned out of his 3 constantly. At minimum he should get debuff immunity when channeling it.

I do have to say that the sound track of the game is great. Hidden King associated tracks are all bangers I've been using recently while studying.

There's a possibility they might, The question is whether the character would be hilariously evil, cool evil, or sympathetically evil. Also, there's an anti-mutant group in Marvel comics also called the Friends of Humanity.

Last few hero updates have really exposed how the general artstyle and feel for the game has gone downhill. Even from the main menu and music. Main menu screen used to have an element of mystery to it, with the dark atmosphere and music. Characters like Haze in the background. Now the new music doesn't really have the same feel to it. The original characters all felt reasonably grounded in the world they were going for, which felt like early 20th century ghost-punk. The characters were all adults, and had stories and visual designs that felt like the belonged in the world, with only a few exceptions (Bebop, Grey Talon). Since then, the heroes they have added have moved away from that feel and more into generic slop. Sure there have been some wins (Doorman, Drifter) but others are just trash. Billy seems very anachronistic to the other designs, and they were even going to have him constantly break the 4th wall, only deciding against that at the last minute. Paige is just a nerdy girl in a sweater, why the fuck is she in combat like this? So many of the characters are just snark machines, like Graves, Silver, Vyper, Apollo. Multiple school kids (Graves, Apollo), modern design choices with no grounding in the world at all like Celeste. Can't wait to see how the visual design goes down the drains when they introduce hats. That is what really ruined dota for me, it was so coherent and readable visually, then they kept adding overdesigned retarded shit like arcanas and just threw the visual design into the trash. Not to mention alternate hero models like kid invoker or female anti-mage.

I am not even touching on how overpowered all the new heroes are in, in terms of what their abilities do and how overloaded with effects they are. Celeste's shield has a silence built into it when it breaks, in addition to synergy with her ult, and giving more movespeed. Warden shield gives less movespeed, and is only a shield, it has no other effects. Why does Celeste's shield get more things stapled to it? Why not just a shield? Not going into a big breakdown but just compare how simple heroes abilities are from the original roster, like Haze, Warden, and Abrams compared to Silver, Celeste, or Apollo. Just abilities pushed to the moon with dozens of effects and interactions for no reason.

Also, reddit is fully on board with this game being the newest woke slop game. Just read some of these thread titles and look at the fanart posted, they are loving the 'shipping' of characters in lesbian and gay relationships.

>Hear so much about how "LGBTQ friendly" Deadlock is
>Play the game for the first time, pick Silver because she's a heccin girlboss transbian
>Get raped in lane, enemy Mina mocks you and calls you a nigger for feeding, lane partner calls you a faggot and tells you to uninstall in an eastern-european accent
>Try to defend yourself in text chat with "it's my first game :3" "meow I'm new", get told to kill yourself
>Midgame comes, friendly Billy has become a raidboss and is perpetually on voice talking about how he's such a gassy fat fed chud BTFOing retards in 1v6s
>Spend the entirety of lategame getting farmed by the enemy team while their (((Doorman))) is sneeding to your Billy how much he needs to get abducted, raped, and killed by the cartel
>Game ends, everyone dogpiles you for being a fag going 0-26 with <5k obj damage
>Uninstall, but stick around on the Soyddit and Der 'cord communities with all your other trans xisters

It's always hilarious when troons realise their hugboxes aren't representative of the people actually consuming the media
