If you buy a remake with a lot of changes you don't like and mod the shit out of it to make it as close to the OG as possible... Why not just play the OG?

My thoughts exactly, shiny new graphics aren't worth it. It will actually be easier to add in any new changes(that aren't censorship) to the original game via mods as the remake doesn't seem to add any new radical amount of content(new missions, endings ect)

visual variety, mods also offer me more control over the game in other ways that the original doesn't. things like that.

Funny, there is this game called "Off The Record" that actually adds a brand new campaign for Frank along with lots and lots of changes. If I am going to bother playing something new, that's the expectation of what I am looking for. Does the remake stand up on it's own the same way as OTR does? If not, then why bother?

i want to play this dead rising remake and mod it until it plays how I want. that's what I have fun doing. i have a greater degree of control over the remake than I did the original game, and if the price to pay for that is the lack of erotica photos or a changed voice line here or there, I really could not care less.

i think the disconnect here is you viewing me modding the game as me "fixing" something I shouldn't have to fix, whereas I'm modding the game because I think the act of modding it is part of the fun. in another week or two I'll be able to make the remake significantly harder than the OG was and have options the OG didn't offer me.

What is the freedom the demake lets you do that the original doesn't? Skipping time? Visible condition of your weapon? I just don't see it, nearly everything is a downgrade compared to the original, graphics included. Just mod these changes over to the first game if you truly care that much.

ok. can you send me a Dead Rising Original mod that lets me control the time dilation, so I can set it to 1.2x or 1.4x if I want, can you also send me a mod that makes all survivors hostile? i'd also like a weapon durability controller so I can decide how fast weapons degrade. can you point me towards those for the OG? because I have half of them for the remake, and I imagine I'll have the other half soon.

your statement of "what is the freedom the demake lets you do the original doesn't?" mods. the demake is on RE Engine, the original isn't. the Demake will get significantly more mods that grant me more freedom and control over the game, that's what I want.

I also really hate how you can't mix and match DLC outfits, you're forced to use the whole set.

How many of the original voice actors are in this game anyway? I've been watching a few streams of this and the only person I've seen so far who sounds like the original VA is Adam. The rest of the voice acting sounds pretty meh, especially Brad. Brad sounds like Ed Harris with a sore throat now.

I'm pretty sure no returning VA are in this game, or at least I've been told that nobody from the original lineup was contacted. Might be a union thing like with TJ, it might just not be Capcom giving a shit, and we know Paul's VA is apparently a sex pest who's in prison so he wouldn't be returning either way

Adam sounds pretty close and seems like one of the better performances but it still just sounds like an impersonation of the original delivery. The clip of Kent was the really bad for that, completely lost the sleazy mouth breathing way of speaking that added to his characterization.

remakes are almost always inferior to the original because the original is usually, usually, not all the time, an idea that the creator is passionate about and wants to put out into the world. remakes are inherently "what if we take that original idea and do it again for more money?" which is always going to turn out an inferior or "soulless" product.

as for the future releases? honestly? good. i don't like DR2 and I don't like DR3 or anything else. i really only liked DR1. in my ideal world DRDR would sell super well and they'd bring back the original writer and we'd get a completely different game as DRDR2. that's never going to happen, but fuck me would I prefer it. i hate just about everything about the story of DR2 and I don't much like the gameplay either.

I doubt they will actually remake DR2. Nevermind the content, even the setting is too much for today's crowd. They will have to "re-imagine" the game somewhere where you don't see a Playboy poster or a sex shop every other minute, and then there is the whole gambling issue.
