Speaking of which, how bad is the yellow paint/tape situation? I've been looking over RE2R lately and oh boy is it worse than I remember. That was back in 2019 btw.
There are bright green arrows pointing where to go despite the level design indicating where to go. When you get down the elevator there are bright green lights absurdly plastered orderly on walls now ruining the immersion of the mall design and detracts from the original atmosphere for niggercattle baby's first vidya design choices. What a fucking joke.

"The psychos put up a better fight" the clown and the fat lesbian bitch literally melted away and is less aggressive I saw on Synthetic Man's livestream. Btw Lesbo isn't censored at all and it really shows the Chinese or whatever's ridiculous censorship. The sexual assault implications were kept for a lesbian but gutted from Kent who is honestly tamer because he only took pictures of creepy erotic pics vs assaulting women in the lesbian way... why?

i know you've all been screaming about how the game is made easier and it's all for stupid faggots, but, christ, I just brought up a random twitch stream of someone playing this game, just a random one. it's some dude dying 4 times so far on the convicts. he's screaming that it's bad design and there's nothing he can do and he's so glad he never played the original since it's clearly dogshit.

like I thought I stumbled into a DSP stream by mistake, he's just freaking the fuck out, and this is the easiest version of the game? this is nuts.

"I cant man. i cannot. i cant play this game. it's so shit. im just getting fucking sprayed by a machine gun."

so for all the complaining the game was made too easy, not easy enough, apparently?
"wtf the game is not playing itself, i have to think and plan how to do shit? 0/10 too hard!"

while not capcom, reminder that game devs unironiclly use dsp as a barometer for how to balance games

SOS on Super Nintendo always made me think of what Dead Rising became

In that game you had to escape a sinking ocean liner under a time limit. It gave you complete freedom in how you approached every action. You could try and save people on board or you could make for the exit right away. The levels moved and changed as the ship rolled around and capsized. Dead Rising is one of the very few games that ever gave me that same feeling of freedom/urgency. It's one of the big factors in why I like the game so much. Of course like both games it adds a great deal to the replay value as well.

I've watched as much coverage on the newest version and I'll be sticking with the 2016 Steam port.

I am not enjoying this Remaster. It is the classic Remake formula: modern gameplay, shiny new graphics, but oopsie we gutted your childhood game and took some no-no words and concepts out. Learning about the Chinese studio responsible was an absolute blackpill. Capcom wants to cash in on the Dead Rising name, but took away all the wacky and fun stereotypes and sexuality we loved. Now it is a bland game with boring voice acting, and some cool gameplay. I need more than good gameplay to keep me invested in something these days.

I'm considering switching the voice dub to a different language, I actually like Frank, a little bit, but his delivery perfectly represents the suppressed comedy and more realistic line delivery in this Remaster.

Funny, in AlmightyLoli's stream he actually had a tough time (but he used the chainsaw, but this other guy used guns)

All I'm gonna say is that both DR2 and DR3("bad games" according to original game truists, or whatever you want to call them) don't tone down on fun, wacky humor, sex or stereotypes. You would think DR3 would but that's a game that lets you both makes fun of a crazy tranny drag queen survivor and has a psycho one that basically attacks Nick for no reason. Game doesn't even try to make the player feel sorry for killing it and just mocks it after it dies.

Actually, I dressed up Nick as Frank(pre order outfit available with a mod) for today's "occasion", gave him a Laser Sword, Mega Buster and Mini-Chainsaws pretending I am playing the actual next gen Dead Rising sequel and god damn I am having more fun than I would have with a remake. This gameplay reminds me why I was invested in a remake of DR1 in a similar engine and with similar gameplay to begin with: Take everything that made the original great and give it the same smooth combat and open world gameplay of 3 and I would be happier than a pig in shit. As it stands, the only remnant of this idea is doing what I just said, which is pretty disappointing. The only silver lining is that I can take that in-depth design document I wrote and turn it into something new and proper now. There will be no second remake and there will be no fan effort to remake the game anymore, so I can easily "borrow" the Dead Rising timed open world formula on a new product or even take the new locations/characters/quests and apply them somewhere else. I might know people who can help me too, but getting the funds and a team in order will be a whole different story. Probably another pipe dream, but the possibility is there in the future. I doubt we will get a good new Dead Rising game in the future, so not like demand for one will go down.

Yup, I suspected as such. Woman raping another woman? Brave and liberating! A man taking a suggestive photo of a scantily dressed woman? Literal sexual assault, he's lucky not to be removed from the game altogether!
Yeah, this demake can go fuck itself. Even if people can "fix" the censorship via mods(very doubtful) it's simply better to play the original at this point, with all it's flaws and all. I played it recently and compared to the later games, it still holds up pretty much perfectly. It's own wacky take on gameplay(ie stupid survivors and stiff controls) give the game it's own brand of difficulty not seen in later, smoother and more polished titles. All the demake does is polish off the edges but without any of the fun stuff or genuine improvements, leaving it a boring, sterile product that somehow looks worse than the 2006 release.

The only thing that’s even vaguely compelling about this is the idea that unlocking shit would be less of a massive pain in the ass this time and less stiff gunplay.

At least the RE4 remake had the sense to change the story beats a bit. Speaking of, is the DLC for thatworh anything? I know people rag on the Capcom remakes sometimes, but other than 3make I thought they were good enough.

Yeah same, I feel like people here are sometimes a bit too overtly negative. But it's also weirdly refreshing to see since everywhere else you just see people ballwashing them 24/7 because they always astroturf any negative opinions. Like I get the criticisms but some of them I just don't give a shit or they seem really nitpicky.

I won't defend RE3R though, that one was just dogshit.
That being said the DR Remake looks... alright. That's just it, it looks alright. I don't really have any strong opinions on it either way. Especially since I already own the original. The only thing that might make me check it out would be if it gets some entertaining mods since it's on the same engine as the RE Remakes and there's all kinds of tools at this point to mod the RE Engine so it's only a matter of time.
I mean fuck, they made DMC5 on the same engine and the mods for that game are insane.

Do you mean the paid outfit "DLC" for DRR or the DLC in RE4R? DRR dlc adds an outfit and one of the ambient mall tracks gets changed to whatever the outfit represents(for example, an RE outfit will give you RE music). I saw someone on 4chan unironically claiming that this alone makes the game worth buying.
As for RE4R, Separated Ways is just that, something that should have came with the came that was cut out and forces you to pay money for it. I know that U-2 has been "brought back" after being absent from the main game, but aside from that I don't really know anyone who played it. Even for people who enjoyed RE4R, it was "too little, too late".
There is also small weapon packs and hilariously enough, an option to pay 5$ to "unlock" classic OST in case you don't like the new tracks. Also, there is micro transactions now. Sure beats the original Resident Evil 4 having everything for free under one roof when you buy the game, huh? Even the OG GC release without the extra content stands the test of time.

ok, i couldn't post this last night because apparently the site was down. but two things of note since last I played.

1. I sent the convicts STRAIGHT to hell. i decided to harass the convicts a bit, chasing them around with the red corvette. they crashed into a wall and I parked the corvette behind them. they couldn't move, so I got out of my car and was mocking them, since I was streaming this for a friend. and oh boy, did they not like being trapped. they kept putting their car in reverse, but couldn't go anywhere...until they started sinking into the ground...and then like fired from a slingshot, they just launched through the ground at like 6 billion miles a second, straight to hell, never saw them again. wish I had recorded it.

2. the military team seems actually fucking dangerous now? i don't know if any of you have gotten to them yet, but they are by far the hardest thing in the game and harder than anything in the original, barring 7 day survivor. i can't imagine it's me being dogshit, I was level 45 and I've played the original on release, quite a lot, and again recently. in the original version the military were only dangerous in packs of 4-5, now, they're dangerous in packs of 2, and 3 is nearly impossible. it seems like their damage was upped by 3-4x?

i have mixed feelings on this, on the one hand, it's kinda cool you have to actually stealth around them, on the other hand, I don't think upping their damage by 4x was the way to do this. when the military first arrived, I went into Paradise Plaza, and there was just 7-8 of them in front of the door. they killed me instantly. INSTANTLY. i literally could not do anything. kinda absurd?

Good to know that the dogshit AI of the beta convicts(with the release convicts only being slightly better) is brought back alongside other beta elements!
Who was the person on the last page who actually said that the convicts were "smart" now? LMFAO
Also, are Spec Ops still resistant to firearms? That's what made them so hard in the original, the only point in the game where you had less zombies to worry about AND an easy access to an assault rifle and the enemies that dropped it were borderline immune to it. I wonder if that's still the case.
This game seems bipolar to me: At the same time it was made piss easy for new players and has yellow paint/green lights everywhere...only for yellow paint to supposedly never be used again after that one fight in Food Court. Why even show us footage of that location, then? Does Capcom realize how many people thought twice or downright refused to buy the game from that alone? Why not double down on the paint if you will advertise it like this?
Then you have the game being much easier and making you OP with the new magazine boosts, but at the same time Spec Ops are much harder. Who is this for? As someone said earlier, normalfags will just get filtered out and curse the game then go back to playing COD or Fortnite or whatever no matter what, and this is clearly NOT for the old time fans with all the changes and censorship.

Also, are Spec Ops still resistant to firearms?

they are, yes. they don't seem MORE resistant than in original, but they're still resistant. trying to fight my way to the security room to see zombie Jessie was literally a survival horror experience. i had to carefully hide and walk around them, and when I got to the storage room, I had to kill like 8 of them and I had to be VERY careful about it.

using gunshots to lure them 1 or 2 at a time, shooting once to stun then quickly closing the gap to use melee, etc etc. like, maybe someone else can post their experiences and say I'm just retarded, but from what I saw, I'm telling you they're a lot harder.

Unrelated but mods have begun coming out, the first script mod is a time-controller. Freeze the timer, slow the timer, speed the timer up, etc etc.

Meh, if you make enemies TOO hard, that's a detriment to the gameplay as well. Keep in mind that the main gimmick of Dead Rising is being able to pick anything up and use it as a weapon. If these ordinary objects are not enough to defeat basic enemies anymore, you get the Dead Rising 3 problem where the only viable weapons for the Nightmare Mode, where even basic zombies(and especially mini-boss zombies) are too tough to take on with your average weapons and require the OP Combo Weapons. In this case, it will encourage players even more to run Mini Chainsaws or Katanas instead of trying out more fun weapons or even going straight for cheat weapons like Laser Sword or Mega Buster.
Obviously, I can't comment on it's implementation here as I haven't played the demake(likely never will), but I can already tell the devs did the old "We will make the game easier BUT also extremely hard in some parts so we can throw that in the face of the players complaining about it!" that satisfies nobody. Each developer implements this differently but it's always cancerous.
Again, I bet this is something you can mod into the original release as well by playing around with the numbers on Spec Ops entities. To be fair, I also remember the Spec Ops infested warehouse being one of the toughest rooms in the game even now when I played the game recently. Good on Capcom on not compromising on that, at least.

they outsourced this to China, so every change they made for modern audiences seem to be half measures

i'm not entirely sure what it is, maybe they attack faster now, maybe they do just stun you more. I'm not sure. what I can tell you is I don't remember the warehouse being that hard in the original. i just don't. in this game it's a fucking death trap. even with quick step i'd be hesitant going in there, where as in the original I wouldn't think twice about it?

Hold the fuck up.

They didn't bother fixing the binocular first person view that was bugged in the remaster.

More importantly, they fucking cut out a couple seconds where Frank jumps to get Ed's attention :story:

Funny, in AlmightyLoli's stream he actually had a tough time (but he used the chainsaw, but this other guy used guns)
Thealmightyloli is also a fag though so the chud clearly is a God Gamer
Or maybe its even more inconsistent than the OG and has adaptive difficulty similar to the REmakes.
