Final points before going to bed

- It's not that bad, but the OG is definitely superior.
- Some new faces with the zombies, and sadly some old ones disappeared.
- I like the lightning and the dawn was beautiful.
- Playing Italian language, the dub is good, but the VAs are the same from various Resident Evil remakes (Jessie is Mia, Kent is Salazar, Brad is Carlos)
- The fucking convicts respawn

Was curious to look at current reviews and it almost all reads like its AI Generated.

Shoutouts to all the clows Stipo is getting. Any idea on what cut content allegedly got restored?
Zombie cops shooting their guns (one actually blasted another zombie's head off during my play), and some beta zombie models.

Quite a chunk it seems but its essentially minimal. The rocket launcher, Zombie Cops can fire their handguns now, they restored the proper sound effect for the lawn mower compared to the 2016 remaster where the audio was bugged, they restored the windsock at the helipad from a beta build,

The trade off for that from what was cut and changed does not seem worth it.

In-game version of Slave (Cliff's bossfight)
Has some differences to the official versions, I wonder how different every boss track is in-game to the band releases. Also I really miss the 2000s choices for music almost all the time companies would feature relatively new releases. Now we are eternally stuck in the copyright 80s cutoff Hellhole.

It just looks so washed out. I don't care how "beautiful" the dawn supposedly is, it looked really shitty in videos to me.
I WILL wait for the Crowbcat comparison that WILL make remakefag tourists seethe.

Definitely wait until the price drops before picking the game up. I'll buy it when it goes on sale for like 20 dollars in the future. For now though I'm getting a refund.

I know it is the 1st game remade, but there are so many things they could have improved to bring it up to the standard that 2 & Off The Record set. Items feel a bit lackluster, but guns feel way better.

A slight nitpick, but I wish Frank looked a bit younger in appearance.

I wasn't like a huge fan of STipo or anything, but holy shit his rapid descent into being a faggot shill is pathetic.
That guy was not only a darling of the community because he loved digging into cut content of the game when nobody else would, but also because he pretty much IS the only relevant part of the community. The only other person that I can think of that regularly uploads Dead Rising gameplay is Ecdycis, a charisma vacuum that looks like Keffals and mostly covers speedrunning/challenge runs on Dead Rising, Resident Evil and similar titles. Stipo becoming a shill and original Dead Rising getting a shitty, soulless demake at the same time pretty much spells doom for the OG fanbase of the game.

Current situation.
It's not that unenjoyable, but the game has been definitely made retard-proof.
Also Survivors now don't shut up about PP stickers or spoiling story content.
Holy shit, Capcom HIRED THAT MAN!
OH NONONONONONON.mp4
STipo cried and begged for this.

They altered many dialogues, they cut erotica as a genre which makes the Kent psycho make 0 sense as he was an inverse to Frank and a perverted egomaniac... ahhh probably more was cut. Oh yes there was! They removed the blood spills you get on your clothes from killing zombies somehow despite RE engine's capabilities. They made the butcher caucasian looking with an autism hat instead of a memorable design, they removed the timeless art direction of the original, and like the first remaster they have muted the colors versus the original 360 version. All in all FUCK CAPCOM I HOPE THEY GO UNDER.
I am eagerly looking forward to the Crowbcat video, lmao

Yeah, I've been looking forward to this remake for years. Even drafted my own proper game design document for it. Now that it's here? I feel nothing. I'm currently finishing my 100% completion of Dead Rising 3, the last actual proper Dead Rising game that matters, and it is slowly feeling like a book end for the franchise as a whole just like the ending to that game was. After DR3 I still have DR2: Off The Record's achievements that I left for last as that game is technically "non-canon", but honestly even that game feels like a better followup to DR1 than this remake anyways. Like I said, expect various videos on how overlooked DR3 was in the near future, there is no way people aren't going to look at that game with rose tinted shades(and DR2) once the honeymoon period wears off and we start seeing how much was butchered here. It happened with RE4 Demake too, and we've seen the sperging of Capcom fanboys of that period.

i don't know if this was posted already, I got the digital deluxe edition for 50$ because I'm streaming it for a friend, already streamed the original few months ago.

it's fine. like it looks fine enough to me, there are some obvious downgrades, like the audio took a major hit, gunshots do not sound good now.

but that's not what I'm here to mention, I'm here to mention something very confusing I found. if you go to the gym in Al Fresca Plaza, you find a magazine that just gives you every skill in the game? as long as I am holding this magazine, I have all skills unlocked. why do I care to level up now? like, what's the point of this from a game design perspective? this is kinda fucking insane?

i also found a magazine that's just like, -50% damage to all survivors, I think it's the Cult Leader's magazine they just moved, that one was in the food court, I think. I have mixed feelings on this one. on the one hand, in the original by the time you get this magazine, there pretty much aren't any survivors anymore, on the other hand, it's just in the fucking food court now? like it's right there?

very strange.

Not sure if the first one is a debug feature leftover or this is just a continuation of making everything piss-easy for the "modern audience".
I actually don't mind the Cult magazine being available earlier since I always liked that one, but it makes zero sense for it to be in Food Court. Why not the movie theater, where it would be appropriate?
Then again, that gives the game a bit too much credit, that would assume anyone on the team gave a shit about it.
Has anyone gotten to the credits already? I have a feeling that the 2022 "Justified" remake that was already linked in this thread will be used for it.

few other things i've noticed.

1 light shafts from impossible directions

2. zombies outside mall move at like, literally 6 frames and can walk through the cars in the parking lot

3. the giant swing move has no sound effects for hitting zombies with the grabbed zombie

4. I've noticed that when you talk to an NPC and when the NPC does the "gossip" stuff, it's a different voice? This was most notable with Ross.

overall, it's a surprising amount of lack of polish on the smaller details, which the original exceeded at.

Do me a favor and record and upload the credits
Someone already did
Before you ask, the comment there states that Justified IS in the game but this is what you hear when you have the retarded streamer mode on. I guess Capcom will copyright strike you if you play Justified when streaming the game's credits, THE HORROR!
Looked into the 2022 Justified remake video, and apparently the comment section has a new pinned comment saying that the author of the song was not contacted about the remake and that Capcom is using their work without crediting them. They were never paid any royalties for the song, which is pretty shitty. I guess that means the new song isn't in the game, then?
Stipo is the first two top comments on this video btw. He's already making me sick and the shilling cycle hasn't even begun.

They changed one of the psychopaths in a way that's admittedly kind of cool.
You remember the sniper battle with the Hall Family in the Entrance Plaza? The one where Thomas is reluctant to kill survivors like his father and brother? You can actually spare him in the remake if you kill the other two first and can even talk to him. He won't join you though.

yeah, just came here to post this. i always thought this should be a thing in the original and I always thought it was weird it wasn't.

Neat, but ultimately not worth the cuts or censorship. You can point out a hundred little things like this and it still doesn't make up for it or make me want to buy it.
Scripting wise, this looks pretty easy to mod into the original. Add a new survivor entry, borrow a script from, say, Burt(NPC who initially attacks you but then goes static and initiates a conversation, leading to him following you) and initiate said script when conditions are met(his family is dead but he is still alive).
That outfit is fucking terrible btw. Looks like artistic direction is another thing they butchered. Notice how much the PP stickers are glowing now, so that the niggercattle won't miss them, same thing with the redundant neon blue arrow pointing towards the exit door(with the giant red sign above it, never mind that this entrance is a dead end for most of the game anyways)
Speaking of which, how bad is the yellow paint/tape situation? I've been looking over RE2R lately and oh boy is it worse than I remember. That was back in 2019 btw.

i know you've all been screaming about how the game is made easier and it's all for stupid faggots, but, christ, I just brought up a random twitch stream of someone playing this game, just a random one. it's some dude dying 4 times so far on the convicts. he's screaming that it's bad design and there's nothing he can do and he's so glad he never played the original since it's clearly dogshit.

like I thought I stumbled into a DSP stream by mistake, he's just freaking the fuck out, and this is the easiest version of the game? this is nuts.

"I cant man. i cannot. i cant play this game. it's so shit. im just getting fucking sprayed by a machine gun."

so for all the complaining the game was made too easy, not easy enough, apparently?

You're tempting me to rewatch the old TIHYDP videos of Phil playing Dead Rising now.

Game peaked at 6490 players and currently has only 558 reviews on Steam. I expected at least twice the numbers, but I guess it's not so bad considering DR2 on release has peaked at 2,8k and DR1 (original) at 960 players.

I gotta say, the psychos put up a better fight now.
The convicts drive better and crash less often, and sniper rifle Carlito managed to kill me a couple of times when it never happened on OG.

Adam wasn't that bad, the Japanese guys really helped me against him with their Uzis (which now you can farm, they spawn even if you already have one).
Cliff is much more aggressive, but that somehow is good because he runs away less often and wastes less time.

The new zombies aren't that bad, they look kinda good and I like that Capcom didn't make them screech like hyenas like they did in RE2. I heard some really creepy moans and that was good.
