Fellow roguelike enjoyers (yes all eleven of you), have you played Dead Estate yet? It's pretty good. Kind of like a cross between Enter the Gungeon and Binding of Isaac except you can jump. Gameplay is pretty solid but it doesn't have nearly as much to it as Isaac. Which may be a good thing considering the bloated imbalanced monster that game has become, but I digress.

Some gameplay footage:

The art style is great. I'm not usually a fan of pixel art but the cutscenes and character portraits in this game look fantastic. The game itself looks good during play but not as amazing.

If you have read the steam reviews or watched videos about the game you may have come across the shopkeeper/unlockable character Cordelia. She runs all three shops in the game (unless playing as her) and she has gotten pretty popular for two BIG reasons.

Overall it's a pretty fun if simple twinstick shooter. I'd suggest giving it a go if you enjoy action roguelikes and have already played Isaac and Gungeon.

I'm still waiting for a true successor to Gungeon, which I'm pretty sure is the perfect roguelike. What they did to the "sequel" for that sweet, sweet, Apple Arcade money was a travesty--it's basically unplayable.

Undermine came close to scratching that itch for a while, but it gets old fast. This game looks good, but I've seen enough gameplay to know it won't be my jam--the rooms are tiny, the perspective is annoying with the jump mechanics, the items and weapons are straight boring. Reminds me of Neon Abyss, which is another polished rogue like, but just doesn't have that much going on between the ears.

I need to play Gungeon again. I didn't get far because I sucked at the game. This game feels a lot easier to Gungeon but I agree on the not much else going on. Not going to lie if it wasn't for the art I don't think Dead Estate would be as liked as it is but it still has some stuff going for it. Going to have to disagree on the perfect roguelike, though. That for me is a tie between Slay the Spire and Tales of Maj'Eyal.
