I don't know if anyone pointed this out yet, as it's 50 pages long, but the "cool rock video" has absolutely the worst fake guitar playing I've ever seen:
The first problem is an aesthetic one; anyone who owns a knock-off of a "famous" guitar is a wanna-be cool guy. Frankenstrat knocks are arguably the worst. But that's just my opinion.
The second problem should be obvious to anyone. The thing is an electric guitar. To make sound, an electric guitars requires a wire. A wire to an amplifier (okay, wireless stuff exists, but you still need to plug in a transmitter).
Then there are all the parts where he's "playing" what look like random notes while there isn't even a guitar sound.
The "main lick" gets played at least three different places on the neck.
The solo at 0:50 roughly seems to correspond to what he's doing on the guitar, but it's difficult to be sure. The one at 1:25 doesn't at all. At the start you hear one note and the guitarist either bending the string or using the whammy bar, but he's all over the fretboard playing a gazillion notes. ugh.
I've seen some terrible fake guitar playing, but this is perhaps the worst. Victim of terrible editing? Perhaps. But much of what he's doing seems to be randomly moving fingers. And it's not like it would have been hard to match the sound with the video, given that's the *only* thing you need to sync (since you can't see "cool" cat's lips move).
If Eddie van Halen were to see this he would clobber the guy over the head with that Frankenstrat.
