The Granblue game is an oddity formed from 'localization' etc, as well as JP roles not mapping well to English.I mean Capcom already has Poison and that Granblue fighting game has one.
Otherwise you're spot on. The only reason the transtrend took off was because being gay became normie over the last decade and being "queer" is all about being a provocative rebel and pissing off the normies.
Once Transgendism becomes mundane these fucks will drop it like a bad habit in favor of the next "fuck you mom/dad" trend.
The first one is the wrestler:
ファスティバ (Fastiba)
In Japanese, they're an okama type - a man, but he's flaming. He uses extremely exaggerated feminine speech patterns eg "te choudai" instead of "te kudasai", the voice sounds like a flaming sterotype from an old British comedy stock character. The whole thing is played for a joke in comparison to his enormous frame (he's part of the Draph subspecies that has enomous burly men as standard). Unusually for an okama he's portrayed not as any sort of sex deviant, just a slight weirdo that's just a really nice person.
In English, they decided to change the name to Ladiva, all references now use "her" pronouns, etc. It's like the translation team just thought dealing with declaring them a transsexual was easier than putting in a flaming gay guy.
The other is the alchemist "girl"
カリオストロ (Cagliostro)
This one's unusual, as in-story Cag was actually born as a boy. However they were horribly sick, and through the course of their studies created an entire new field of magic and became the founder of alchemy in the Granblue world. They transmuted themselves from a man into a not-quite-human immortal girl to never be sick again. The character deliberately plays at exaggerated cuteness, but it's clear over the series that they're mostly aware that it's an act too. She'll switch to extremely aggressive and arrogant male speech patterns (such as using "ore-sama") when under any sort of stress or when facing an enemy. At the current place in the story they speak in a male-ish fashion most of the time now, too - though not necessarily using the aggressive tone as much.
The preview trailer for the fighting game DLC captures the dynamic pretty well:
I do wonder what would happen when more Very Online types discover Ange or the scientist siblings from the Robomi story. Ange in particular is basically a legally distinct clone of Tezuka's Princess Knight.
