I think he's blaming the broken gameplay on the fact they blew their budget on a large cast of characters when the money would've best been put into actually making sure the gameplay was at least decent.

The fact they focused all on Kamala Khan instead of the Avengers everyone actually gives a shit about despite wasting all that money to make sure they could have this massive cast is just more of a "adding insult to injury" scenario as opposed to "REEE BROWN PEOPLE!" OAG sperging

Well the current Ms marvel is a shit hero.

Her being middle eastern is more or less a checkbox that they wanted to check and nothing about it was sincere.

It had you fight a small handful of enemies for the whole campaign and they put such an emphasis on having a large variety of separate heroes that there was no time left to have something suitable for them to go up against.

Now if they made a game based around a singular hero that would mean less actors to pay, less fees, and they probably could have shouldered a decent game. if just getting the avengers requries such an assinine amount of money they have to really think about reducing the scope and cutting heroes that are redundant.

Basically if you want a large scale AAA super hero game, your best bet would be to model it after Batman or Spiderman. That reduces the overall scope but in turn you're allowed to do more with it, in turn you pay less actors and the post production costs go down as well.

Also don't call it The Avengers and have a B or C lister head the whole game, the TV series made the same mistake.

Sounds like they should have just made a Iron Man game with different suits being different play styles. The knock off Tony Stark voice actor from the various cartoons can't be that expansive.

You literally added like four additional lines of content to make it look like you didn't respond with "no, it was MUH DIVERSITY!" when it was suggested that maybe releasing a broken trashfire that completely didn't work on PC coulda been an issue. The argument was less valid by virtue of literally not even being there. Even with it there, you're pretty much implying my response was correct by acknowledging being busted to shit was the reason for it's failure, just tried to supplement the argument.

Kamala Khan is the main character because it's the creation of Sana Amanat (the current Marvel editor in chief and friend of the Obamas).
Square Enix' Marvel's Avengers is the typical [current year] production where the people that you actually like are pushed in the background in favor of the new bland OC.
 
I'm fine with her in general, but her 'squee I'm a teenage girl' shtick really lends itself more to a street-level hero dealing with purse snatchers kind of thing than a world-ending scenario. And thing is, my understanding is that her actual power is shapeshifting into basically anything, which is insanely powerful, but all she uses it for is making giant hands, so it's really her own failure to have an ounce of creativity that holds her back. If she was actually acting like a cross between Mystique and Plastic Man and cleverly using her power, she'd be amply deserving of an Avengers spot.

Most of her comic shit really is more street level, teenager shit. They have a problem with taking her out of that element to cram her into more "epic" plots that don't fit her personality much at all (despite what the game suggests, her "fangirl" personality is dropped decently early on in the comics run). Problem there though is that her solo, where more of the low-urgency plots were, has been shitcanned in favor of "Champions"; a book where she's the leader of what amounts to the Lil Avengers.

She's more or less being passed around to a team of writers, half of which clearly don't understand what the books even were outside of that first half-year, and assume the "fangirl" shit actually was a predominant personality trait when it was actually one of the first things they got rid of.

It's a shallow attempt to make her 'quirky'! and 'relatable!' when none of the core fanbase that was interested in this game wanted that.

At least Thor's fun.

You have no idea how badly I want that. I cannot express in mere words how awesome Thor's introductory section was in the game and how disappointed I am that he seems to be doing nothing else after said introduction. He's just... there now. Hulk, Tony, even Nat got some unique focus after they were intro'd, Thor is just... done.
 
I've said this many times but fuck Marvel

The MCU has just ruined that IP for me outright, aside from a handful of older titles I liked from the 90's and early 2000's.

Really, I think the only Marvel games still worth playing are The Punisher game for the PS2, the first two Marvel vs. Capcom games, the Spider-Man PS1 game, and the X-Men: Mutant Academy fighting games for the PS1. Maybe some of the other Capcom collaborations in the 90's as well

Eh Marvel was apeing their movies long before the MCU I still remember the very short X-Men run where they traded in their classic look for the movie costumes and Blade has aped Wesley Snipes since the 2000s.

I do wish Marvel and DC would just bite the bullet and make a movie tie in line for the normies and kids while leaving the classics for fans to enjoy.

I want swimsuit Wondy back.

You didn't mention the best example of Marvel retrofitting the comic characters to match their film counterparts. So everyone knows Sam Raimi's Spider-Man had organic webbing, because Raimi didn't want to devote a significant portion of the film explaining how Peter Parker built/found his webshooters.

Well this goes against the established lore that Spider-Man's webshooters are highly advanced techology. So the Marvel honchos had the brilliant idea that the comic Peter Parker should be rebirthed by a giant spider so he could have organic webshooters. Which is kinda gross and doesn't really make any sense.

Anyway there was a whole continuity of Marvel Comics that was clearly meant to take notes from the movies. It was the Ultimate Marvel comics but unfortunately the creative staff trashed that continuity so hard that it went defunct.
