You're also wrong about sony not focusing on japanese games. If they didn't want to, then why would they be shelling out limited exclusivity deals to the tune of millions of dollars? Legend of heroes and Ys are primarily being funded through those means.

And here you are, right on schedule to say “ACKCHYUALLY Sony good”. The issues is less about Sony not focusing on Japanese games and more about weebs becoming disillusioned with them.

Well the new Star Wars game is woke as hell. Nearly every character is black, Asian, or a black Asian female.
The only slightly white guy you can pick on the Rebel side is Asian...
Got to like, mission 4 and had a briefing by three women and a black dude.

The story is written by Mitch Dyer, a former gamejourno. He also wrote the story of the EAfront 2 campaign.
As for the diversity-only crew, that's pretty much a requirement from Laura Miele the political commissar of EA who oversees every studio to make sure that they respect her diversity checklist.

This went above and beyond Miele's mandates. Jedi Order had some "diversity" checks, but it wasn't nausating or overwhelming.

Squadrons is at another level of gayness. This was folks at Motive and Mitch Dyer clearly forcing some absolute faggotry.

Just as an example: the republic squadron your in(excluding yourself)has 4 characters. 3 of which are women. You got one male character.

If this was a mandate: it would be 50/50. Clearly somebody had a brainwave and thought this was "progressive."

Kinda funny, considering the niche audience for this is overwhelmingly male. So, I'm not sure who they are placating for this.

This shit is strangling Star Wars to death. It needs a break from this crap ASAP...

No i don't think it's that, they want to sell people GamePass and then drop everything a few months in.

Once people are invested in Gamepass they are expecting them to keep paying like a MMO Subscription.

Microsoft hasn't shown any sort of turning over a new leaf since everything relating to their programs is still majorly fucked and their solution is to just keep adding more mobile OS shit on top of it without fixing core issues. They only showed halo and it's being made by 343 again. Obsidian and Bethesda are in a race to purge all remaining traces of the WRPG before Larian can release Baulders Gate 3.

The games that exist for Re:Zero are not really well done. They're on par with the other Shonen games like Fairy Tail. If you headlining with shit like that, nothing that follows is going to be strong.

There was more effort put into stuff like Blue Dragon and that flopped hard.

Honestly, I think it's a mix of both things. Microsoft's shady as fuck but they lost the console wars hard this last go round and they probably smell blood in the water.

Between capitalizing on the weeb market and using it as a promotional tool for Gamepass, it's a no-brainer for Microsoft. I agree they're going to probably run Bethesda into the ground worse than Todd Howard did and I still don't trust them.

Of course, I'm wondering what could happen in the early 2020's if woke culture suffers a more widespread backlash as a response to the insanity of this year. Unlike movies and TV where the pandemic has pretty much put everything on hold and we won't be getting most of 2020's movies until 2021, the video game industry's been releasing new titles on a mostly regular schedule.

Sony got to be this juggernaut of console gaming entirely because of backlash against moral guardians and embracing edgy culture. Nintendo went above and beyond to be family-friendly, especially in America while Sony saw a golden opportunity and allowed more violent or mature games on the PS1.

The fact that Nintendo is relaxing their policies towards third-party games while Sony is becoming the moral company is bitterly ironic.
