Hey man coomers have been kicked out of 109 anime discords and they still think they did nothing wrong.

Yeah their whole predicament is a sticky situation. But the narrative supporting it smells very fishy. Like yeah we get it, you wandered alone aimlessly for 40 years. But then these people come into existing communities and try to subvert their existing values. Suddenly gameplay has less focus put upon it and everything becomes a deviant art clip show. Games are no longer judged fairly on how they play but instead their visuals and sometimes their writing. I mean when steam removed some real low effort trash they deemed it the lolicaust, but it was only around 9 games not the large number they pulled out of a hat.

And you're absolutely sure that it was porn games that were the reason here and not the myriad of other potential reasons for this?

I really thought it was well known that coomers tend to give people the shaft.

I mean outside of the games not having a whole lot of content to them or just repeating similar missions with different variables, their shortcomings tend to be on the gameplay side of things. When your gameplay design is balls you really can't fix that with visuals or story at all. Take Summer Memories, it's basically a single player minigame collection. You can try to aggressively stretch the length out by adding hours of text, but it's not like Stardew Valley or harvest Moon where you have a pretty solid core of gameplay systems that you navigate throughout a single in game day as well. Like if you were to discharge the story aspect of Summer Memories you'd just be left with a bunch of minigames dangling in the wind. Do the same to Stardew or Harvest moon and it's still a farming game with functioning systems. Basically they're just poorly designed games in much the same way AAA games are, but with a smaller budget.

The same way you could take any VN and compare it to Life is Strange and the only real difference is that LIS has a budget for limited 3d environments and animation. They're not anything that has any real depth or substance compared to other games.

Like there's stuff like Snatcher that definitely could use some better forms of preservation. The most recent port was part of the PC Engine/TG16 Mini and that was done by Konami, but if you don't know japanese you're not going to be able to read it. People have been demanding that for awhile especially after Konami ported Metal gear to Gog. Like they needed something more of a cult title with some notoriety with this whole new rollout. They don't even have the second Drakensang game, Draken, or Rama.

The problem with coomers started around the 2000's. The Japanese anime industry was in a rut, so they produced a bunch of stuff that was based on selling merch on girls. So many shows for years were of very low quality because they were just intended to be vehicles for PVC figurines and other stuff like that. It's why many disdain moe~ and it's ilk to this day. It was something lacking substance and lacked the structure and quality that anime was known for prior.

The issue of spending money has changed though, coomers will throw shit at e-thots now(animated and otherwise) more frequently than buying merch.
