Point is, you (as in, the left) had the ear of the major AAA studios. Just because you're losing that, doesn't mean your "on the chopping block". You can still make and play your walking simulators and queer visual novels and whatever else. YouTube pundits don't have any power to stop you.

Now I'm confused.

Pretty much all the culture war stuff in games (and media in general) is coming from the left. It's dying off, but I'm not seeing AAA games pandering to tradcons. Japanese games aren't being re-written to make a gay relationship straight. They're being censored to make characters trans or non-binary.

He is a leftist, does not like how the gaming industry/community etc. is going.
He also criticises the right wing "gatekeepers"/gatekeeping and tribalism from what
I saw. You can say he had a MATI moment here, but nothing that upsetting.

Those people don't fucking exist. I asked the question and got some names of youtubers I've never heard of. No, gatekeepers are people with power. Not random assholes who tell you not to do a thing. Twitter leftists aren't the gatekeepers. The ones in HR making sure Whites don't get jobs are gatekeepers.

You are right, gatekeepers are people with power, but twitter lefties can also get into positions of power. In communities or otherwise.
Also your example of HR gatekeeping is not that, its discrimination.

Dead Rising was pre-SJW but the devs did make a point of making Frank West look mildly ugly in terms of appearance but make up for it in his charisma and wit.

IIRC, the devs wanted him to look like the typical out-of-shape American suburbanite "normie" back in the 2000's as opposed to the typical vidya protagonists at the time, since it would make all his crazy feats more surprising and impressive.

If anything, Frank West is an example of a character designed to be conventionally unattractive that works.
