Honestly tripwire can get fucked and Gibson knew what he was doing. They were one of the first companies to bow to pressure around gamergate and implement a CoC.

my 2 cents is that he wants to from his own sthick but ousting himself as "based" to get people to buy this things, right after factorio thingy you can bet some people will try to "own the libs" vocally even though they know in current year it means cancellation.

That is a piss-poor plan then. The reason the factorio dev got tons of support is he didn't back down. Gibson is in no way 'based' by saying an inoffensive thing and bowing out without a fight. All he did was blacklist him from the industry and open tripwire to be even more pozzed.

This is absolutely correct. The proper thing to do in this case would have been to go scorched earth, full public about any attempt to oust him for a fairly reasonable position held by a significant chunk of the country.

You know what it was? He was just shooting the shit, there was no plan or grater scheme. He was just giving an open opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Honestly I have not seen a group of people react so negatively to Christian imagery since Dracula.

Worth realizing, however, how the Factorio guy's situation differed. The primary crime he was accused of (association with a persona non grata) was comparatively much less severe, and he also has greater control over his small, private business. Tripwire guy, on the other hand, dared to overtly speak against baby killing, the #1 sacred cow of the Left, and he has less control over his larger business that has already been encroached by progressive ideologues. Even FNAF guy kept his pro-life pronouncement limited to a subtle remark, and that was while he was already on the way out for his crime of donating to mainstream Republicans.

Video game developers don’t care for the rules when it comes to irrelevant things like that. They’re still peeved that people care more for Tifa’s body structure than they do for Aloy’s round shaped face.
