What cult movies do y'all like? I recently rewatched "Death to Smoochie", an endearingly bad comedy, and I got kinda interested in what weird, out there shit is in movies I've just never noticed because about ten people like watching them. It's always something different from movie to movie, and they're all fun to watch even if they suck. The definition is kinda vague, but if the movie had a re-evaluation where people discovered it was actually great and now everyone knows about it (The Thing), it's probably not worth talking about in regards to cult films.

Shock Treatment
the sorta-sequel-but-also-not to Rocky Horror Picture Show
an alternate universe where Brad and Janet have that spare tire, get married, and then end up in the bizarre world of Denton, where everybody is part of the studio audience or in front of the cameras
in the long-long ago this was some bizarre unthinkable hellscape to the point that most people disliked the movie
in the age of reality tv and online celeb types it's creepy how not crazy it is

I've always been on the fence about watching that. Half of the fun of Rocky Horror is going to the local theater to yell "FAGGOT" at a cross-dressing Tim Curry. Richard O'Brien seemed to really be on his game while writing a provocative parody of B-horror and sci-fi stuff. Does it compare favorably, at least?

I've always been especially fond of The Toxic Avenger. Classic 80s B-movie politically incorrect shlock that is a mix of horror, comedy, and a superhero film. It's very hit or miss depending on the individual, but I highly recommend that everybody check it out to see if you like it. High cinema it is not, but it's certainly a lot of fun and very memorable. Starring nobody you've ever heard of, naturally.

I will warn that the sequels should be avoided at all costs, however.

I'll also toss in Kung Pow! Enter the Fist. Parody of classic Chinese martial arts films dubs, starring Steve Oedekerk. Very quotable, very funny, and very stupid.

maybe?
it's a weird, nigh-incomprehensible pile of shit circa when it was made and couple of decades after, but once the Clown World Drive started to activate it became a lot more on-point
also it has Rik Mayall

Hudson Hawk
Buckaroo Banzai
Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead
The Gift
The Cell
War Inc.
Donnie Darko
Southland Tales
The Guest

That's just off the top of my head. I'll have to come back later and do a follow-up, I love cult films.

Death to Smoochie is unironically good
Its biggest problem is it doesn't get really funny until like halfway through the movie, after that you get what you paid for. The casting of Norton is great because he's a completely believable kidhearted but pathetic doofus who eats soydogs with weird black syrup and dresses up like a pink rhino to entertain meth addicts. The thing that really makes the movie worth the price of admission is the ice show at the end, the retarded Irish boxer, his mob-boss sister, and Warwick Davis yelling about how Robin Williams broke his Picture-in-Picture TV.
