Why is this game involved in culture war shit at all?

From what I've seen of it it's not woke, I didn't notice a single dark skinned npc or stronk girlboss.

But it's not a chud game either. It's very safe, and sterile, and sexless, and corporate.

I can't see this game appealing to either the pro or anti woke grifter crowd, it's a bland nothing product.
The people who shat on this game fellated Veilguard, Concord and Dustborn so people wrote off their reviews as partisan bullshit.

I don't know how this game ended up in the culture war. Is it because of the white protagonist? I understand why Stellar Blade became a part of the culture war, but this is completely confusing.

Pretty simple -- western journos and devs seem to be having an unusually conspicuous and high-intensity bitch fit about it (unjustifiably low scores across the board from "the usual suspects") and post-GG that naturally makes people pay attention to try to figure out exactly what it is about a mid-to-mid-high-tier game is offending these faggots so much. Given the political alignment of the reviewers spewing nonsense, it's not hard to connect the dots (they're all western authors, and it's a Korean game that completely ignores any and all political horseshit in the US, i.e. those devs ignore them completely, don't bribe or schmooze them for good reviews, etc.).

Kinda one of those "root for the guys pissing off people I hate" things. I'm fine with that. It sounds like a decent AA game from what I've seen. I'd give it a shot myself if not for Denuvo (always a deal-breaker for me; I won't support devs who use it). If Denovo gets cracked/stripped by pirates or they decide to remove it later, I'll give it a shot on sale. No launch day prices for Denuvo-encumbered products though.

So, is the game actually good?
It looks flashy but most of the gameplay dosen't look terribly engaging.
It's got a lot of problems like very clunky controls, a messy UI, some people are having a lot of bug issues, amd the story is really bad.

People who like sandboxing in a giant open world ala RDR2 seem to really love it.

Consensus right now seems to be, wait on some patches and see if they can't iron out the controls and performance issues.

It's hard to describe, but, I am sometimes thinking more about how to do something rather than actually doing it.
I get this a lot more than what other people say, which is basically that they can't figure out simple shit like how to run and I'm just like "just tap the A/X button?"

But all the moves and other stuff? Yeah, I get that being a bit confusing. So far I've only focused on sword and board combat so I'm not having a particularly hard time but I feel like if you tried to master other weapons it would get confusing fast.

I actually hate that the triggers and bumpers do what they do in the pause menu and wish it could be reversed cause I keep confusing them weirdly enough.

This thread is fascinating, like some inverted Concord where the anti journo and hype causes people to give a game that is definitely not top tier way too much leeway.

Though it can always be the situation where the devs patch things to make up for existing issues.
Everything surrounding this game is weird. It's a solid 7/10 I think, but people are acting like it's either the best game ever or absolute dog shit.

I fucking hate what has happened to gaming where everyone has these weird emotional attachments to these games. I saw the same shit with Starfield. People still seethe over that game today (although a lot of faggots seem to be turning around now that it's coming to PS5, go figure)

None of these games are really worth being upset about, but this seems to happen with like 2 to 3 major releases a year now it seems like.

I didn't see many niggers, so that will always make western cuckolds and suspiciously Fink-backed game journos seethe because they must worship and see niggers at all hours of the day, even where they do not belong, no - ESPECIALLY where they do not belong they must be seen. If it's a European fantasy world, it must have shitskins shoved into it. That kind of thing certainly makes Solzhenitsyn's words about destroying people by severing their roots hold true. All properties, escapism, and even real history must be shitskinned and turned into brown sludge - so sayeth the ESG Funder Jew. The ESG Funder Jew getting many of his tentacles into eastern franchises in recent decades, with predictable results.

I watched someone play it. Absolutely not for me, it looks like a fake game for the lack of a better term, but I actually saw something that looked good to me.

The combat seemed to have this strange, weighty slo-mo feel to it, with good animations and nice staggers. It looked like a cool dance with an interesting flow. It was a 1-on-1 fight against some human miniboss, probably early game because there were no crazy abilities. Of course the game tried to ruin it with ugly retarded particle effects, but didn't fully succeed.

Again, the reaction to this game is strange and too fractured to be going “ma culture war”. I swear the main people always whining about both sides and the culture war can’t wait to inject it where it doesn’t even belong. The conversation around this game is way more interesting than woke/not woke.

Most of the anti-woke usuals are all over the map:

And the “wokes” are mainly journalists mad about AI. The other pronoun accounts are mixed.

It’s honestly almost as fascinating as the confusion of the game itself. The entire thing is what the fuck?

ive been enjoying the game (i guess). It obviously looks beautiful, and it runs incredible on my 4090. Its just wild that a video game can look this good. But personally, for some reason i get SERIOUS SERIOUS ai vibes from a lot of it. The NPC choices, the way the NPC's are animated when their mouths move when they are talking, the choices of some of the races of npc's and the combination of that and their voices, etc. For example, an orc with a white british person's voice. Not to mention, just random "really tall orc's" sort of randomly placed as merchants, or just standing there. There is alot that is really good about this game. Certain aspects you can tell that they paid attention to detail, and really cared about how it looked and how it feels. But then there's other parts where it kinda breaks the feeling of "wow they really cared about this" and it feels like they used claude to do certain things and make decisions for them. Maybe its a korean thing, or maybe im just picky, or insane. Or both. But its not a bad game. I guess its worth the price, if you have nothing else to play.

I think this is the most divisive game ive seen. One side enjoys the game and the "complexity" of it. Another side dislike the game for how bloated it is with the all the shit you can do. Reminds me of the quote in Legacy of Kain about if you flip the coin enough times, eventually one day it will land on its edge. Personally i think the game will be better when it gets patches and their shit gets fixed and even then is a game that only very special autistics will enjoy as it is for me a single player MMO.

Is it true that the interaction with the world is complex? That’s what I’m holding out for.

I saw the system to light arrows on fire, that seemed decent, but I don’t know if that’s just a lone gimmick, or there’s more.

It looks good , but man does it seem like a borefest to actually play from the videos I've seen.
