Crimson Desert - Korean devs really like deserts huh?

This thing looks so generic to me. I can't believe dudes like AssManGold having orgasms over it. Ooh, you can wander around and talk to people and exchange money for goods before fighting a big goofy boss that takes an hour to beat! I'M IN GAMER HEAVEN
Yeah i'm not getting it either. People overhyping games to "send a message" that will never be heard are just as annoying as game sites inflating review scores imo.

I did mention this in the Marathon thread, but somehow this game is higher up on pre-orders on the PlayStation store than Maration:

Is it a telling sign that Sports games are higher on the pre-order sales list on the PlayStation Store over Marathon?

Or is this is a nothingburger sign because Sports game players usually only just play those and almost nothing else? And not even a $150 price tag will stop people from buying the newest Wrestling game, I guess. And will the fans try to cope by saying "it's only PS5", since they like to use that argument when people mention about Steam player charts, because "the game is popping off on consoles".

But I don't know why Sports games are also higher up than Marathon, even though people that play them usually only buy their annual Sports game of choice and play almost nothing else.

Why is that surprising? People shit on Marathon before a screen shot of it was released meanwhile every online creator i've seen has blown Crimson Deseret as GTA 6's only competition for GOTY.

New Digital Foundry video talking about the games engine. Pearl Abyss recorded some footage for them demonstrating their tech. Runs at native 4k 60fps with a 7900xtx ultra settings.

I hope the game really does run and look good at release, if only to cause a mass seppuku of UE5 guntguarders. Overall, one of the few upcoming games I’m looking forward to.

Game looks fun with fluid combat that is not UE5 slop so yeah I really hope its good overall.

If this turns into a hit between Crimson Desert and HellDivers 2 we'll have two major releases that look stunning and run (fairly) well while looking unique to everything else.

Pearly Abyss is also utilizing their own in house engine over making yet another UE5 slop game with poor performance. They are touting impressive performance for what the game is offering.
The fact they made their own engine and everyone is saying it looks great has me excited.
I'm also hearing the story isn't that great so far, the controls are clunky, and some features aren't really that well explained in the game.
I think a lot of it is from an MMO company trying to make a single player game. MMO's are way different. You're expected to have a friend that had friends to teach them how to do this shit. Not to mention trying to port a keyboard all to controller (and most people were playing on controller like I like to).
I have high hopes for them, and applaud their effort but I think it may just end up becoming a cult classic. I think some of the clunky controls and MMO perspective is going to kill the game to some of the single player audience (plus the weird ass controls and unnecessary menus I'm seeing); but I think to some it will be worth playing 20 years from now because of the innovation seen in this.

I'm skeptical that this thing can hit 60 fps based on the trailers.
EVERYTHING I've seen is that the game runs great. Again, it's a NEW engine (to my understanding) for THIS game. Of course it's going to run great......for PC. I'm curious how it's going to run on consoles. I think it'll run ok but nothing compared to pc (pc master race). But I think a lot of the issue for console players and people who prefer controller is going to be the control scheme. May be worth playing on mouse and keyboard because the controls are remappable (unlike controller atm)
perhaps it's going to be like Zelda: BOTW (which I quickly got bored off)
Looks kinda generic Witcher 3 copy.
I can agree with this but add that I think it's going to have an MMO flair.

I'm pretty sure it's going to, but again, mainly pc. I wouldn't be too confident in consoles. The company wanted to stay a pc company and develop it for pc first.
talked about the puzzles, combat having high skill ceilings, and how the game doesn’t hold your hand
These are the things that are going to make or break the game. They need to go through and add more tutorials in my opinion from what I've seen. I remember a story about how you can force palm off ledges without it explained (needed for puzzle) or how you need to hold your sword for a long time for burning or you need to stay for a while on a platform for a save.

I say again that the game has an MMO flair. They keep having an MMO mentality.

I had actually never heard of this game, but I just bought a Ryzen 7 9800x3D last week after finally having enough of intel, and I got a code for free from AMD. I’m actually surprised this game doesn’t have a bigger push. But perhaps the modest marketing will work in its favor

I’ve heard nothing but awful things about Black Desert’s monetization but this being offline without any microtransactions brings good will from me

However…the last free game with hardware I got was Anthem. So not a good precedent

I've been keeping an eye on this game, but after I got mouth raped with Dragon Dogma 2, I'll wait until after release, to see how it runs and if it lives up to the hype.
If it does, I expect a lot of kvetching from westoid devs.

What the Equal Treatment of Women Simulator isn't good enough for you to pre-order?!?!?!
