Years ago I visited cracked every day. Then it became infected with the sjw virus. It became so annoying and unfunny that I stopped reading.

It was David Wong that wrote that, and he was being completely disingenuous. He was literally posting about Trump voters being Nazis before and after the election, before and after he wrote that article.

I'm not sure why he wrote it. I'd guess either one of his superiors made him or else he had the overwhelming temptation to be smug and that was the most topical outlet at the time.

Now, I may be thinking of someone else entirely, but isn't David Wong the guy who changed his name to sound more Asian because it made publishers more inclined to accept his shitty books?

One of my favorite recent articles that really tells you how far they've fallen is the one where they "destroy the alt-right's biggest insult". Of course they mean the word cuck, and they "destroy" it by defending cuckoldry as a legit thing that's not at all shameful or bad.

I honestly left before it got this bad. Years ago, I was probably one of their sources of income as I'd disabled ad blockers for them and would often click through multiple articles in a sitting. It was a site that was a good place to kill time. I knew they'd deliberately bait you with a bunch of links to other articles at the end of what you just read, and it was sort of the "nothing else to do" time filler for when not shitposting somewhere.

The thing is, this is almost like a chain reaction. The site needs to be dense enough with links that you'd see something, at least one thing and maybe more, at the end of almost every article that you'd want to look at, too. Long before it outright sunk into shrieking humorless SJW bullshit nonstop, it just stopped being interesting in that compelling, Pringles eating kind of way. So I just slowly stopped visiting the site because it wasn't bringing the funny any more.

This wasn't anything I thought about, and there wasn't a moment of "oh, this place sucks now." It wasn't until several years later that I even went back and was like "what the fuck happened to this place?"

It's better that it dies now. They should have shut it down years ago before completely shitting up its legacy as the one thing in the crappy Cracked franchise that was ever worth anything.

Cracked actually got less funny even in the period when it was moving further toward my general political views of the time. I really have only one rule for humor and that's is it funny? Do I get at least a sensible chuckle out of it? If not, fuck it. If so, I don't care if it's from a Nazi. Laughter is a pleasure and it's a job of the paid whore who does it to make me laugh. Politics in humour are a pretty badly exploited crutch. Anyone can make a room full of spastics guffaw in delight by appealing to their confirmation biases, so long as they're willing to alienate everyone else. That's fine and all and it wins them a cheap and easily entertained audience, but if you're not a complete spastic who just wants the funnyman to just tell you how right all your beliefs are, it's unfunny, insulting and lame even when they're pandering to your own beliefs.

That's the other side of the coin. People getting so offended at comedians having the 'wrong' views that they rage out and quit, like apparently half this thread did for Cracked. Apparently it wasn't the fact that they turned to sourcing articles from their forums for chump-change and every single article they shat out was mind-numbingly unfunny that bothered them, it was giving Zoe Quinn a platform and letting the occasional smug liberal faggot post an article that ruined the place for them.

That said George Carlin still isn't funny.

Shortly after the election they published an article about how radlibs in general had no idea what happened because they're so smug and out of touch that they didn't understand why sane people don't trust the democrats, and how we were sick of being told for a decade straight of the terrible things that would happen if republicans won, but when Obama did literally all of those same things the pearlclutchers were nowhere to be found. It was really well-written and for the life of me I can't find it now.

They probably disavowed it after they realized it was talking about most of their staff. I wish I remembered who the author was.

This was an incredible article. I posted a lot of it in the REEEEE TRUMP thread on Election Day. I actually really love David Wong and hope he does well in the future. Every year they did a “most viewed articles” recap and he was always the top 3 or so.

It's not that they were really funny before but stopped being funny as you got older, it's that they continued to produce the same low-effort "TOP 5 LISTS THAT'LL MAKE YOU GO 'WOW DA'S NEAT'"- type of garbage content and you stopped being a 14 year old who thinks that that kinda stuff is good content.

I have to agree. I wandered away when it seemed like they had more photoplasty crap than articles and lists. Then people started pointing out a lot of the commenter stuff was plagarized from the Chive. I wandered over there for a little bit, since Cracked was getting boring, and then the Chive began to have “Show us your Tiiiiiiits” every other article and I wandered back out.

I've said this somewhere on the farms before, but as one of the few people who listened to the cracked podcast just as it was starting (got old pretty fast and i'm not sure its even a thing now) and heard him speak freely on a number of topics i got the impression he's the type of SJW that isn't a 'true believer" and just regurgitates the rhetoric for profit/recognition like hbomberguy and Zoe Quinn.

He can certainly talk the talk, but to me it's obvious he would have a very different public persona if he had worked in some other profession or just fell in with a different crowd. Some of the things he's said about his attitude towards woman for example lead me to believe he would have been at home in the MGTOW community in another life.

So maybe that was just frustration with the people he surrounds himself with coming through.

I've heard a lot of people speculate that Wong is really really sexiest but hides it. I've never listen to the podcast but a lot of people point out that Wong tends to talk over most female quest and tell them how he knows better how they are oppressed. There's also that article that Wong wrote about how society make men hate women. It reads like he's projecting hard.
