He was also trying to play therapist with the youngest daughter in the Stefonknee Wolscht thread last night.

Ugh, Connor. Connor, no. Connor, stop fucking projecting.

I fucking can't.

I agree. They sound like characters out of a really lurid exploitation film.
On the one hand, I don't feel like a fascination with bizarre people is anything that any of us can judge someone for. After all, isn't that why we're all here in the first place? Connor is really just expressing the same feelings most of us have, if slightly more plainly than we might care for it to be.

On the other, of course Connor has to relate things to movies, because that's just how Connor works.

Is he trying to pull attention off himself? Or does he really think it's a good idea..?
A little of Column A, a little of Column B, I'd imagine. Speaking of which, he's back:
I doubt it. He seems more enthralled by living out this fucked-up fantasy with his "parents" to qualify as a sexual predator. Emotionally and physically abusive to his children and real family, maybe.
That explains his interest in the troll purported daughter of Stefonknee. He probably feels a kinship with her, as we all know how emotionally & physically abusive his parents are.

My sentiments exactly.

It seems as though your father put on a façade of normality to mask his own hang-ups. Many screwed-up people do. Also, from what I've read, his "adoptive mom and dad" seem grubby as hell. It honestly kind of sickens me to hear that there are people like that out there that enable really dysfunctional behavior.

He's used these exact goddamn words to describe his own parents--and for that matter, to describe the evil adoptive mother in Juno. It's his favorite diagnosis.

How in gods name does he not realize how hard he's projecting (IN PUBLIC!)

god whenever anyone googles his name this is gonna come right up. He has no future. Best case scenario is he could donate himself to military medical experimentation so that the agony of his existence could at least benefit the whole of mankind

The rest of us, of course, can logically see that if his own parents are totes just like the freaks who allow Stefonknee to mingle with their actual grandkids, then whose "really dysfunctional behavior" would his own parents be enabling? Gosh! That would be his! Maybe he's more right than we give him credit for. (Why was that one course per semester not English, goddamn)

What is the size of @Connor Bible's pre algebra class?
Is it small enough that he pretty much could get any extra time with the professor that he wanted if he actually asked?
Since it's community college-level, I'm going to assume that it had to have been relatively small. & every professor typically has office hours regardless.

. . .well, actually, since we know where Connor goes to school, let's take a look.
tcl math1.PNG

Okay, College Algebra. Let's see. . .
tcl math2.PNG

Huh. Looks like about 25 people per class, tops.

. . .Wait, I thought it was Pre-Algebra? Hang on, lemme do a course search. . .

tcl math3.PNG

Ah, okay. I think this is it. But what's MATH 032?

tcl math4.PNG

OH, okay. This must be the remedial math course Connor took before Beginning Algebra. & it says it requires COL 103, which is. . .

tcl math5.PNG

. . .study skills. @Smutley , didn't Connor say something about taking some fluff study skills course? This must have been it. & seeing it's a prereq for Developmental Mathematics, it must've been the first class he took. Presumably.

Well, actually, maybe not. Did you know there's a class lower than MAT 032?

tcl math6.PNG

But you have to take it at the same time as MAT 032. & Connor's never taken more than one course at a time, so. . .hm.

tcl math7.PNG

For reference, max class size for MAT 012 is. . .12.

Goddamn I fucking hate TCL's website. It's so clunky & weird to navigate & it keeps crashing on me. Anyway, since he may not have taken MAT 012, the classes we can assume Connor has taken are:
  • COL 103 (College Skills)
  • MAT 032 (Developmental Mathematics)
  • that one history class where it took him ten weeks to write an essay for All Quiet on the Western Front, &
  • MAT 101 (Beginning Algebra), which he dropped (presumably withdrew failing).
Now, assuming MAT 101 was the last thing he took,

He probably had, at most, ten people in his class.

Earlier in the thread I looked up the school's tutoring center and if I recall correctly it was just like my college's drop-in tutoring. He could just show up when there was a tutor around and he could get help, for free even. My school does 1 on 1 sessions for DSPS students too, who can also request notetakers, and also get to take their tests outside of class so they have more time. There is so much he could be taking advantage of, he could totally be doing a level math class along with something he'd like more such as English, and maybe something fun like anthropolgy. My college has a library studies course where you can learn how to work in a library, that would be an excellent choice for an aspiring writer to get involved in a job where you are surrounded by books!

There's so many opportunities, but then I remember who this thread is about. Oh well.

I know from personal experience how hard it can be to feel comfortable/ask questions/etc in the classroom, but that's what's so great about small classes; not only are there fewer students for the teacher to have to focus on, it's much less intimidating to ask questions and speak up in class. And a class of 10 is about as small as it can get.

Take advantage of it, Connor.

From the other side of the desk, I would so much rather have the person find me before or after class and ask questions, or even, GASP, come to my office hours, which are in the same building as the class I teach -- one would think people could find it, no? You'd be amazed by the hordes of people who are apparently boycotting my (and my colleagues') office hours, even though showing up to them shows me that the student cares about the class and is willing to put in effort.

One of the best classes I ever had in undergrad had seven students (upper-level musicology seminar). It fucking rocked. Listen to Cosmos, @Connor Bible .

When a student shows me that they care, it makes my day. It lets me know I'm doing my job, and it lets me know that they're trying their best. It might not get them an A, but trying their best and putting in the maximum amount of effort they can is almost always going to get them somewhere other than failure.

I'm glad Connor isn't one of my students, is what I'm saying.

Just this past semester I had a class with only four other students, and a couple semesters before that a class of about 10 (I go to a small college). I absolutely loved both classes because I got to know the teachers and the other students pretty well and we had a lot of great discussions (granted, these weren't math classes, but still). On the whole, I've always enjoyed smaller classes more than larger classes. I'm always really happy to see low attendance, haha.

If you have a small class, make the most of it. They're not easy to come by.

I had to take a similar class, I don't know how standard they are across the nation, but everyone had to take this class at one point. If it's anything like the one Connor likely took, they play videos aimed at middle schoolers (or younger) about taking notes, good studying skills, and using school-supplied planners. And then you turn in your notes (about taking notes) and show how you're using your planner every day. For most students it's pretty degrading shit, but Connor is one of the few who would actually benefit from a class like this. Except similar things were likely frequently taught in his special ed class and we can see how well that worked out for him.

@Connor Bible what if you were hanging out with a bunch of your dude friends and they started watching porn and masturbating together? nothing gay, but just a bunch of dudes sitting around and jacking off to the same porn in the same room
