I'm sure you are all familiar with this image, but I noticed some things I either failed to see or blocked out. Look at the dresser to the right of the Lorings. Look at the bed. Vanessa's hair is slightly unkempt. I take it this is at night, right?

I'll bite. Yes, this looks to be at night and yes, she looks unkempt. She has a new baby. She's probably awake in the middle of the night. The clock on the table reads about 2:10. What are we noticing?
 
I know symbolism when I see it. It also helps that I've studied psychology. If Vanessa was the bitch I've been making her out to be, there's no fucking reason why she would be cradling the kid in her arms, in the middle of the night, with a table filled with baby formula, used tissues, wipes, etc.

I guess I'm just curious why you needed a lot of symbolism to tell you that. Like all that stuff is just what moms keep around and I don't think that it was there as some deeper symbolism as opposed to just show that she's a mom doing mom things like being motherly.

What did you see before just looking at the foreground if you don't mind my asking? It's just a mom holding her baby. I'm curious as to why you didn't get the impression that she cared just from that. Not trying to make fun of you so if you wanna tell us some more I'd like to hear your deeper thoughts on that.
