There are many ways you can use the word "professional." It can refer to everything from work ethic, to work quality to a calm and business-focused demeanor which often lends itself to a certain sense of magnanimity. Comicsgaters lamented the lack of the aforementioned magnanimity in the SJW comic pros while simultaneously benefitting from its absence by forming their own specialty brand of insult culture comics. As it turns out, memes, soap opera twists, lolcows, shills and all the things the internet has made huge in the past quarter century do not ensure quality of work and by definition absolutely destroy a general sense of goodwill.
You and Ribbidy share the work ethic aspect. The quantity and the timeliness are beyond dispute but the quality and timelessness are simply not there yet. I do not accept your college credit-derived view of artistic proficiency: the proof ought to be on the page whether it is appealing or not. Comic book writing is not easily translatable to other writing mediums just like great comic book artwork doesn't automatically make one a great fine artist(e). Your experience as a writer of novels is fine, but it doesn't necessarily mean you're cut out for comic books. Chris Claremont tried for years to get his novels to catch on. When a project fails to make money, it's anyone's opinion whether it was a matter of bad writing or bad drawing or bad marketing or bad production quality or a combo of all four. Ethan is still a very good renderer, and he can have one of the lamest superhero IPs in the world and some of the clunkiest writing, but he can still sell like gangbusters. It's all about going off of one's strengths, not other people's weaknesses. I think he could have done it without the constant cult of personality garbage marketing and his way of treating people like pawns and scapegoats but that's me, your local a-log provider.
Besides that lack of professionalism which none save for Comics Savior YBZ can hope to only partially replicate, the other pink pachyderm in the room is basic character look and appeal. For my money, Fraga has more going for him in this category. If a comic book sells, it sells who cares, right? But I really don't like to see psycho-power marketing overpower the essential appeal of these characters. It's clear evidence of bubble formation. We've had multiple mini-bubbles burst along the perimeter, with Sciverfrog scapegoating those loyal spergs stupid enough to take his surface reasoning (the pretense of CG) to its various ideological conclusions rather than understanding his closeted nature (love of money & manipulation). He has thus far been able to effectively avoid being held responsible in terms of real consequences for any of his Mr. Hyde actions. Negative Kiwi Farms posts just don't cut it, but I'll do my part where I can.
TLDR: Work on the main appeal of your IPs, Jon, and elevate them from what I'd categorize as mini-comic tie-in journeyman level worksmanship. If you want to make books like Ditko, you're going to need a Ditko-level talent working with you. Put more of your money and effort into that. And stop with the soap opera anime-betrayal hook, no one is buying it.
