I can't imagine why this isn't literally flying off the shelves.
Well, I suppose it is. Into the landfills and Ollie's "last stop before the landfills" outlets.

That's a really retarded idea, you ween, but I guess you can milk it for all it's worth. And if they have real time bad word detection, why not just bleep them or replace them with innocuous terms for comedy, instead of permabanning people?
I was thinking there was some recently popular weeb show that also took place inside a game… I guess that's the one. There's also .hack, or Ready Player One… "story that takes place inside a video game" is becoming a rather tired genre recently.
SAO is the most popular Isekai (different world) genre in recent years. The problem i generally have with the genre is that they are often lazy and don't think about world building or characterisation (e.g. SAO), so i can see bad western writers wanting to expand into the genre. However most of the audience for the Isekai genre are males and they like it because a lot of the genre can be boiled down to; blank overpowered Gary Stu gains a harem (i.e. standard power fantasy/save theI was thinking there was some recently popular weeb show that also took place inside a game… I guess that's the one. Does this chick have a xenomorph inside her ready to bust out? What the fuck is going here?

Yes, it pretty much is. They had to tone down the main character so much because he's an asshat and the book is in the first person.I haven't read RPO, but from everything I've seen and heard it's a poorly written YA relying on nostalgia as a massive crutch. So may as well give that dude a cape comic book.
I got a present from someone in my email this morning & wanted to share it with all of you. (This is so goddamned terrible.)

Being human totally sucks most of the time. Videogames are the only thing that make life bearable.
Here's a collection of quotes from RPO to read through. After a glance, you might think they were all made up to make the book look bad. You would be wrong.

The Matrix was more a simulated universe theme but I suppose it’s pretty similar if the technology is advanced enough (Like the Red Dwarf Better Than Life episode/book and similar ideas like that one episode in Rick and Morty where the user forgets they’re playing a video game). It's a premise with a lot of potential, but so far only The Matrix did it right. Most of the ones we're seeing now are little more than Star Trek holodeck episodes, but with the writer thinking they're creative genius's because they have some kind of reference to a game cliche.

Agreed, I don't want to shit on people that would enjoy RPO (and a lot of people did), it just doesn't seem for me. I enjoyed the isekai 'overlord' light novels, but i won't pretend they are some great literature or that everyone must love it. I find it to be some fun, pulpy, light, trashy entertainment and it's great because of that.I think both the people who shit on RPO and those who love it are kind of missing the point. It was a silly work of genre fiction; no more no less. If you like that sort of thing, chances are you'll at least like RPO, if not, then not.
I think a fair amount of properties have done the scenario fairly well, especially if they really think about world building. But to bring this back around to CG, i would like your thoughts on this, as it seemed to rile some people up and you seem to be the best person to ask. https://twitter.com/stillgray/status/1065860043772284929 https://archive.is/iwuwBIt's a premise with a lot of potential, but so far only The Matrix did it right.
Luckily this is IDW's line, so this is basically fan-fiction and has no relation or effect on the regular 2000AD line that does the real Judge Dredd comic. They're basically like the tie-in comics cartoons occasionally get: even if they say they're technically canon, they'll never be acknowledged or treated as such in the regular series.
