I'm aware. I remember all of this. I remember Sitterson going on tirades about the evil of firearms, his 9/11 remarks, and claiming he made all these changes to "piss off the MAGA crowd". I remember when the guy writing Transformers wouldn't know how to write a character's personality, and he would just settle on some variant of LGBT.

Rumor has it, Hasbro wasn't fond of some of this shit and went in there and cleaned a little house, but I can't confirm.
Hasbro did apparently force IDW to fire Sitterson after he pissed off the entire Joe fandom.

It's one thing I can give Hasbro credit for outside of WOTC they seem to care more for their IPs then Disney or Warner.

When it comes to his art he may be a prima donna.
More like the usual Jim Lee inspired artist who basically modifies Lee's style for his convenience. Pretty common thing for late 90s/2000s especially DC. Ethan's bragging works only on complete newbies. It's good, but patting yourself on the head for copying a guy who multiple people beside you copy too?
If people didn't like it, that wouldn't be. He has no reason to change anytime soon.
That's only temporarily. Only because right now it's directed towards SJWs, people are happy that those assholes can taste their own snark. The moment Ethan directs it towards someone else there will be bitching about "unacceptable Gail Simone/Dan Slott behaviour".

A lot of Transformers really didn't HAVE a personality, beyond some two line bullshit from the old tech specs/TF Universe collections. So tweaking them and adding on stuff didn't bother me. Christ, I was glad Tailgate didn't have the stupid 'I think nonsentient machines should be free' crap from his original writeup; talk about autism.

Something to keep in mind was that (as written) Transformers were a machine race, and self-modification was a lot less of an issue. I honestly wish they'd gotten the chance to explore the weird philosophies (such as functionism) a little more deeply.

Rewind and Chromedome was one thing, but the whole 'he's now a she' explanation was a bit ridiculous.

Piggybacking on the IDW Transformers discussion, let’s not forget they decided to end Lost Light with a little “Fuck you” to anyone who disagreed with their decisions by putting Whirl in that Mockingbird “Feminist Agenda” shirt in the final issue.

Heh. Keep in mind who that is, though -- that's Whirl. Who is batfuck crazy. In fact, Tailgate thought his name was 'Nutjob' for half the fucking series.

Not exactly certain that was a promotion of the whole 'feminist agenda', to be honest.

They have a pretty perfect example of how badly it will effect them to cuck out in the Jawbreakers/Antarctic situation.

Lots of negative reactions and lost sales from actual readers, and potentially being dragged into any lawsuits that could come from cancelling the contract (if there already is one).

What kind of party should we throw after the Ya Boi Zack/Mark Waid judgement comes down? That is going to be a livestream for the ages...

The whopping $3.99 - $50 cover price is a good indication that these Twitterites were never going to buy the comic anyway, especially Vampirella, a comic that I'm pretty sure has never been in the top 100 recently, if ever.

From what I can tell anyway, the EVS cover isn't even going to be in stores, it's an IGG exclusive, right? So they have even less ground to stand on when 'boycotting' Dynamite.

On the topic of pointless boycotts, it's interesting that these people will screech about their opposition 'boycotting' Captain Marvel, Batwoman, Star Wars, etc. yet in cases like this, they'll boycott a comic company for having a third party creator draw one of their characters next to a cybernetic frog. Do they claim moral superiority because they may never outright say the word 'Boycott' instead, dancing around it?

I'm still very curious as to how Waid is employed by the second largest entertainment company on the planet, but has absolutely no sort of backing from them-despite the potential outcome of this case making Marvel look really, really bad.

I do have a theory that Disney wants to let Marvel Comics shoot themselves in the foot, so they can simply lease the IP piecemeal to other publishers and make money on the merch, because the current staff seem to be a money pit.

I quit comics a couple of years ago, but holy fuck how many times do they have to relaunch titles after they fail?

My money would be on a settlement with a vacuum sealed NDA, and I still kind of think that's what will happen, but the loons Waid has hitched his wagon to would crucify him for doing that.

AFAIK they haven't even tried invoking that BS anti-SLAPP nonsense yet. This turkey still seemingly has a long way to trot. On a road paved in billable hours.

Is he actually "employed" by them in a get a W-2 each January sort of way? I think as an independent contractor/1099-Misc payee, assuming that's the arrangement they've got, he doesn't really have any kind of agency capacity to Marvel/Disney, I think.

I think that's how Marvel wants to structure their relationship with their writers and artists, but if the issue of legal liability came up, a court would ultimately decide what kind of employment relationship actually exists.

There's working for Marvel and WORKING FOR MARVEL. Waid is like a caterer at a wedding. He's a contractor. Marvel isn't responsible for what he does any more than a married couple would be responsible for what their caterer does.

Tom Brevoort WORKS FOR MARVEL. Mark Waid just works for Marvel sometimes as a freelancer, or sometimes an exclusive contractor when he's writing for them.

“Heroes in Crisis or How Didio told me to ruin Wally West and this was my best attempt” -Om King

Wally lives, he’s arrested and is put in prison for killing those no name heroes (and Arsenal/Speedy).

Poison Ivy lives, regrows from a fucking flower. Making her practically immortal.

Harley Quinn kicks Wally in the nuts for killing Ivy and framing her. It was the only thing in the entire event that isn’t out of character.
1559143553428.jpeg

This is by far one of the worst events I’ve ever read from any of the Big 2. I have no clue why this event happened outside of Didio’s utter hatred for Wally West Flash.
  1. Loses control of his powers
  2. Kills heroes
  3. Frames Harley Quinn and Booster Gold
  4. Recolllects and compiles every hero’s Sanctuary tapes
  5. Releases them online
  6. Tries to kill himself
  7. Future him talks him out of it
  8. Turns himself in
  9. Gets arrested

King’s beyond obnoxious use of the 9 panel grid makes you increasingly annoyed when you read through them and the entire even is littered with them. Here’s just a sample from this issue alone:

I’m not even disappointed in King anymore, now I’m just mad he wasn’t taken off Batman sooner.

Spoiler: HiC spoilers

Spoiler: Things Wally does
I'm really glad I didn't bother with this event. This is a horrible way to treat Wally. People like Wally, give the fans what they want.

I honestly thought this was shitposting because it's so bad and nonsensical. You telling me these are real? Holy fuck why were people buying this? Tell me that Tom isn't actually that awful and that I'm just some dummy who fell for the ruse.

...A small dying hope I have is this shit is going to ultimately be treated like the edgy 90s and we'll get a modernized classic renaissance in the 2020s like in the 2000s.
