WASHINGTON (AP) — A Coast Guard lieutenant who was arrested last week is a “domestic terrorist” who drafted an email discussing biological attacks and had what appeared to be a hit list that included prominent Democrats and media figures, prosecutors said in court papers.

Christopher Paul Hasson is due to appear Thursday in federal court in Maryland after his arrest on gun and drug offenses, but prosecutors say those charges are the “proverbial tip of the iceberg.”

“The defendant is a domestic terrorist, bent on committing acts dangerous to human life that are intended to affect governmental conduct,” prosecutors wrote in court papers .

Hasson, who works at the Coast Guard’s headquarters in Washington, has espoused extremist views for years, according to prosecutors. Court papers detail a June 2017 draft email in which Hasson wrote that he was “dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth,” and pondering how he might be able to acquire anthrax and toxins to create botulism or a deadly influenza.

In the same email, Hasson described an “interesting idea” that included “biological attacks followed by attack on food supply” as well as a bombing and sniper attacks, according to court documents filed by prosecutors.

In September 2017, Hasson sent himself a draft letter that he had written to a neo-Nazi leader and “identified himself as a White Nationalist for over 30 years and advocated for ‘focused violence’ in order to establish a white homeland,” prosecutors wrote.

Hasson routinely read portions of a manifesto written by Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik that prosecutors said instructs would-be assailants to collect firearms, food, disguises and survival tools, court papers said. Breivik, a right-wing extremist, is serving a 21-year sentence for killing 77 people in a 2011 bomb-and-shooting rampage.

Hasson also expressed admiration for Russia. “Looking to Russia with hopeful eyes or any land that despises the west’s liberalism,” he wrote in the draft email. Prosecutors say during the past two years he had regularly searched online for pro-Russian as well as neo-Nazi literature.

Prosecutors allege that Hasson visited thousands of websites that sold guns and researched military tactical manuals on improvised munitions.

Federal agents found 15 firearms — including several rifles — and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition inside Hasson’s basement apartment in Silver Spring, Maryland. They also found a container with more than 30 bottles that were labeled as human growth hormone, court papers said.

Prosecutors wrote that Hasson “began the process of targeting specific victims,” including several prominent Democrats in Congress and 2020 presidential candidates. In February 2018, he searched the internet for the “most liberal senators,” as well as searching “do senators have ss (secret service) protection” and “are supreme court justices protected,” according to the court filing.

Hasson’s list of prominent Democrats included House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and presidential hopefuls Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker and Kamala Harris.

The list — created in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet — also included mentions of John Podesta, who was Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, along with Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Maxine Waters, former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes and Joe Scarborough and CNN’s Chris Cuomo and Van Jones, according to the court filing.

Hasson appeared to be a chronic user of the opioid painkiller Tramadol and had purchased a flask filled with four ounces of “synthetic urine” online, prosecutors said. Authorities suspect Hasson had purchased fake urine to use in case he was randomly selected for a drug test.

The chief at the federal defender’s office in Maryland — which is representing Hasson — declined to comment on the allegations. The Coast Guard did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Hasson’s arrest. No one answered the door Wednesday at the home address for Hasson listed in public records.

Hasson’s arrest on Feb. 15 was first noted by Seamus Hughes, the deputy director of the Program on Extremism at George Washington University.

Or maybe baseball game guy just did nothing to bring attention to himself because while he was an obvious piece of shit, he wasn't a flat-out braindead mongrel?

Why do you think this guy was in the Coast Guard? This brave man was defending the USA from attacks on our coast, or I mean he was actually sending physical letters to "an American Neo-Nazi leader" (Who? What's his name? He's an FBI agent or they would name this high-profile ringleader of the new KKK. How did the FBI obtain this letter? Did the Neo-Nazi surrender it to the police when he saw this in the news? Does this guy keep copies of letters he sends?) where he talks about using violence to institute an ethnostate, and he's buying fake piss online with his real name, to avoid his military drug test because this idiot was hooked on opiates.

dog bless the troops

Reminds me of Hasan literally sending emails to known Muslim extremists, asking when it's okay for innocents to die in Jihad. He was also attempting to contact Al-Qaeda Hasan wasn't investigated though, the FBI doesn't have enough resources to look up who in the US military is sending emails about killing innocents in Jihad and attempting to stop this violence before it happens. His username was "NidalHasan" aka his real name with no spaces, but they didn't investigate him before he murdered 13 people in Fort Hood.

I'm starting to believe the FBI literally lets mass murders happen when idiots like this Coast Guard lieutenant get caught due to their "right-wing ties" and stopped before his insane plans of wiping out the entire population he wrote while high on tramadol, but NidalHasan posting with his full name attempting to contact Al Qaeda, writing about killing innocents in Jihad, and contacting other extremists Muslims, is not worthy of any investigation until he starts shooting people.

The FBI also ignored people tipping them off that Nicolas Cruz who was a student of Stoneman Douglass High owns a firearm and has expressed that he wants to mass murder kids inside the high school. The FBI interviewed Mateen twice for making threads of mass-murdering his fellow students at police academy. They said he wasn't a threat, until he went and murdered 49 people in a night club.

What is the job of the FBI?

Mate do you think that they're humans who are capable of fucking up massively or do you think they're the illuminati who chooses which whacked out mental case with a gun succeeds and which fails. Which is the simplest explanation for why some morons slip through the cracks?

Which is the simplest explanation for why some morons slip through the cracks?

I'm just curious why so many people with a lot more credible threats about committing mass murder, including several Muslims with extensive online histories tying them to Muslim extremism never get really investigated like Muslim Extremism isn't a big deal in the USA. The San Bernadino couple that imported a Muslim extremist from Pakistan, they looked at her online history too (after she helped in a mass murder) and found out wow, she was noticeably extremist with enough evidence online to trace it to her.

Hasan was posting online as "NidalHasan" as his username talking about how he glorified suicide bombers, attempting to contact Al Qaeda, he was in contact with Muslim extremists who promoted violence, but the FBI didn't launch an investigation against this person working for the US Army??

The FBI interviewed a Mateen twice for terrorist threats he made, twice, but he said he was just kidding when he wanted to mass-murder his class because supposedly a haram piece of meat touched his food on a grill.

Why do so many cases with mountains of evidence against suspects get no investigations but some insane "right wing nationalist" gets busted before he starts one of his plans of poisoning the entire food and water supply of the USA on his insane tramadol-rants? It just seems like a lot of Muslims slip through the cracks when there's a lot of clear evidence that they need investigation.

I'm glad they stopped this guy but he was sending emails to an unnamed "well-known American Neo-Nazi leader" when he was arrested for the content of such emails. Who is this Neo-Nazi American leader they're referring to? How did the FBI become aware of his emails? Did the American Neo-Nazi leader submit them to the FBI personally when he thought this guy was dangerous? Or is this another case of the FBI putting up Neo-Nazi fronts as entrapment groups to catch the Neo-Nazis in the act? Will he remain unnamed for the entirety that the media reports on this, so he can continue to receive emails from potential Neo-Nazi mass murderers?

It sounds to me like the FBI spends most of its budget putting up front Neo-Nazi groups and arresting people who send them letters saying "yeah we're gonna build Cascadia, but I also need to use botulism on the food supply or deadly influenza to wipe out the other races"

What I'm really curious about now is, how do the investigators know about this lieutenant's letters sent directly to the unnamed "well known" American Neo-Nazi leader? How did this investigation into this guy start, where they found a letter sent to a Neo-Nazi? Is the FBI intercepting Neo-Nazi mail now? Did this well known Neo-Nazi self report to the FBI about a dangerous white nationalist?

do you think they're the illuminati who chooses which whacked out mental case

McCabe and other high-ranking members of the FBI were discussing whether or not Trump was wacked out enough mentally to remove him from office using the 25th amendment. Strzok and his girlfriend were talking about how they were so distraught they "didn't do enough" to stop Trump from getting into office. Does the FBI sound like it has goals other than stopping crime?

humans who are capable of fucking up massively

I think there should be someone fired when they fuck up massively when someone reports that Nick Cruz has a gun, wants to shoot up a school, and if the FBI would have checked they would have noticed that the police gets called to his house around 5-10 times a year. It's not a "fuck up" when massive amounts of evidence gets ignored and a direct call to the FBI warning about what Cruz wanted to do didn't get investigated at all. It's either complete incompetence, or complete inaction.

An investigation should be opened into it immediately and should have been the moment we heard the FBI got a warning tip about Cruz. Did no one listen to the FBI tip? Did it get absolutely zero follow up? Who dropped the ball? That person should be fired. It's disgraceful that that person still works at the FBI and I imagine still somehow fails to pursue plausible tips about people who want to mass-murder children at school.

Why is it acceptable to let them "fuck up massively" over and over while subjecting us to a police state where 5 year olds can't go on a plane without getting his anus probed in case of bombs?

How is the mass-surveillance of everything sent digitally justified when they can't catch active-duty army lieutenants in the open emailing extremist Imams about how he wants to spread Jihad and glorifying suicide bombers and asking when it's acceptable to kill innocents in a suicide attack on a forum where he's using his name as his username, the US government knew about these emails and posts, but a formal investigation was never opened into him?

See the actual evidence document. States how long the dude had paused on certain sites and when he scrolls.

And this weird asshole seems to think that there's something wrong with how this country operates...

The judge, Charles Day, said that it is unusual to detain a defendant based on the charges Hasson was facing and that the issue at hand is "all about the defendant's state of mind and intentions."

Hasson's federal public defender, Julie Stelzig, said the government's court filings are a "histrionic characterization of Mr. Hasson" and there was "no actual indication of any plan." She said that Hasson had no prior record and that the number of weapons he had were "modest at best" for average gun collectors.

"It's not a crime to think negative thoughts," Stelzig said of the writings the government points to as evidence of his extremist views. "It's not a crime to think about doomsday scenarios."

But with Hasson in court, prosecutors called him a "domestic terrorist" who intended to "murder innocent civilians."

"I am dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth,"

Misanthropic daydreams: the latest casualty in the war against thoughtcrimes. The left's victimhood culture, ever hungry for to be freshly victimized cannot find many real enemies, pulls out this crap to cover up their latest hoax being exposed.

The judge in the case is questioning the charges? That's not a good start for your prosecution. It sounds like the judge just thinks he needs to be in a mental institution after getting rehabilitated off opioids.

"But your honor! If you could only hear the things his phone picked up while he was muttering! The emails he never sent! The things he typed and then deleted! The way his pupils would dilate when he looked at certain words! If only we could create a fake justification that would allow these illegally obtained surveillance records to be admissible in court!!"

Why are white nationalists always so ugly

People in general that sperg out over politics and shit are ugly, pretty people are too busy being happy, dating other pretty people, being well adjusted, etc.

If your life isn't satisfying, then you turn to getting super into politics as a distraction. People that are busy and have shit to do have no time for nonsense

He didn't "get into politics" as a distraction. He got into imagining wiping the world clean of all humans with a super-flu or botulism or tainting the food supply. He was a doomsday wannabe prepper faggot who wanted to start his own SHTF situation and wrote stupid scenarios about how to start it while high on tramadol and sent them to "Neo-Nazi leaders" inbetween showing up to shifts at the Coast Guard.

This guy sounds more hilarious the more I imagine him. He might need a thread if they start posting a big report on him for being a "domestic terrorist" they thwarted, and they publish these stories.

Why is the media calling that an arsenal though?

His state-appointed defense rightfully pointed out that his collection of firearms is modest to most firearm collectors.

It's almost as if most media outlets sensationalize guns using buzzwords in their headlines (thousands of rounds, 20+ guns, assault weapons, fully-semi automatic, military style) to push an agenda.

http://articles.latimes.com/2013/may/07/nation/la-na-nn-gun-crimes-pew-report-20130507

The media is measurably effectively gaslighting 82% of the population into believing the opposite of reality about gun violence. That is the power of nearly all the mass-media outlets pushing the same agenda.

https://my.mixtape.moe/aacwvs.mp4

Here is an example of the media in a rare case not using the news channel to push their propaganda, but they know since so many people watch late night comedy shows, nearly every single cable tv late night talk show host pushed the same agenda on the same day because hearing the same thing over and over on every channel helps with the gaslighting.

Listen to the complete gaslighting that they have Conan O'Brien push on his audience. (Is Conan an entertainer? Isn't this a comedy show? Why is he telling me about this mass shooting?) Anyway, Conan distinctly reads off the teleprompter, "the sounds of those automatic weapons" when automatic weapons were not used is more gaslighting.

There is an 82% efficiency, according to Pew surveys, in gaslighting the American public into believing a demonstrably-true complete lie, when they use both the news programs and the late-night highest-views comedy programs to gaslight the public.

Twitter: we hate white people, cancel white people, white male tears

Crazy white racist: I’m going to amass a cache of guns and shoot everyone threatening me.

Twitter: what, how could a white person be so deranged!?

Wow, if that's really all it takes you people are as fragile as the memes suggest. All of a sudden that "it's just words on the internet" shit goes flying out the window depending on the subject in question.

Why is the media calling that an arsenal though? I got more weaponary and ammo in my closet. If it's under 20 guns its a modest collection jeez.

Gun tallying nomenclature, as used by gun owners, for the outsider:

1 gun: "A gun"
2-10 guns: "A couple guns"
11-20 guns: "A handful of guns"
21-30 guns: "A small collection"
31-50 guns: "A respectable collection"
51+ guns: "Do I have 'enough' guns? What is 'enough', anyways?"

Note that some gun owners may arbitrarily deflate the count in a variety of ways. For example, they may elect not to include any black-powder, muzzle loading weapons in this count. Others might track handguns and long arms separately.

For myself, I sometimes don't count all of my .22 rifles, because I got adopted by a mated pair of them back in the 90s and every time I go to count them I seem to have gained another one.

I think they should throw the book at this coast guard guy but I also think twatter “white tears” people are idiots hth with your belief in “white fragility”.

He searched for a lot of this stuff on coast guard owned computers . That's enough to get a search warrant, especially when they had reasonable suspicion that he would act against , which is what you need for a warrant.

Said warrant would then likely include being able to seize his computers to analyze, which would reveal unsent emails you fucking idiot.

He made an exel spreadsheet of traitors on the coast guard computer after googling "best place to see congresspeople in DC" at work too. This was January 19th, a month ago though. What prompted the arrest February 21st, a month later?

I can't wait for the full report.

Look I agree with you on almost all of this. They need to investigate where they went wrong in all these cases and stop committing massive oppressive overreach, but lolcalmdown, you're reading things into my post that I never meant to imply.
