If you examine the silhouette, it could mistake these things for DADs or angel dragons. I wouldn't be surprised if there were people calling it out.

I think I remember reading something in the discord chat of theirs (I couldnt begin to know where though) And the 'Crowned' Comes from the.. spindley sticks on their heads, 'Clown' for the ridiculous overdesigned adopts/wacky colors and 'Cats'... Well i honestly cant say much about that one. might be something with the "lore" and the parasites infect cats more? Unsure on that.

I very distinctly remember being a part of an open (later closed) species on 2012 called "Zenyu Ponies". They were an MLP based species that basically had the same set up as warrior cats. I joined and made a character. A few years later I finally redrew the character and had people sperg at me for "violating the closed species", because they turned closed while I wasn't active and somehow that made mine void? Either way I'm like 99% sure they're dead now

I like how they just used literal MLP bases for the art in the species guide. Its usually a few months between uploads but people still make them for some reason.

I hate to expose my inner weeb, but... This could be a dumb reference to anime.
The "Crowned Clown" title was part of the protagonist's identity in a really weak anime series called D.Gray Man. I think the protagonist's powers were some kind of parasitic thing attached to his arm or whatever- And I do notice kind of a vaguely parasite/poison color scheme going on with a lot of the CCCats pictured in this thread.
I dunno, maybe I'm off-base. But there is a lot of overlap between furfags and anime addicts so...

I've heard of D.Gray Man, but I never heard anything that made me really want to watch it. Considering how unoriginal so many of the things in this thread are, I wouldn't be the least surprised for the creator to latch onto a particular anime concept to use for their personal money empire.

Even trying to remember details about it for that reply, I had to think really hard. I would classify D.Gray Man as "unremarkable". It fails to leave any sort of impression, good or bad, just by the nature of how cookie cutter it is.

Ok, so hello everyone! Today, I'd like to introduce you to Elnins!
I just thought this would be a good entry.
Created by Manaberry, they are a race of psychic/magical fox things. They come in a variety of colors and designs but they all keep the same body type.
Now, Elnins are fairly standard as far as species goes, not even very special. But the thing is, Mana has a bad habit of overcrowding her designs. She can draw very well but she's absolutely terrible at moderation. Most Elnins who are bred and both have busy looking parents come out looking like they rolled in paint.
Here is an example of one of her busier designs:
Fun fact, this design also sold for 5000$.
Her fan base will easily drop grands for this species. Especially those in the higher castes. Elnins have social tiers based on lineage and attributes.
Mana also has no problem leaching money from her followers and ripping off anime in the process. This design, for example, is based on KNY and sold for 7000$, if I remember correctly.
Next, let's discuss her Patreon. She advertises it as a way to get an Elnin easier, which usually sell out in seconds. That is not true. She will raffle off the right to buy an Elnin, though I am unsure if she is still doing that since raffles are against the guidelines now. Furthermore, if you win a baby Elnin, called a Kittom, you have to pay to grow it up. You also have to draw/write your kittom doing random things to qualify for the rank you buy.
All in all, Mana has made enough from her species to buy a house. For something so simple, its a little sad people will spend more than most people make in a month for something they can't even hold.

Holy shit. That witch design reminds me of old forum mmos like gaia online, where you can get an avatar that's just disgustingly layered in accessories.
