How long can we go?

10 minutes. And yes the price was the same, $2500. So that's $5000 presumably split between Pajuxi and casin0s, combined with the $23,730 from the MYO event and another ~$1000 from other adoptables this month. So the question is: where's the money going?
:optimistic: Maybe it's for charity?

Phoneposting. Here's the next collab adopt
How long can we go?
These damn things aren't even useable characters to get commissions/art on; any artist you brought them to would take one look at all the shitty add ons and promptly shoot themselves or upcharge you up the ass for putting them through the misery of all the fucking accessories.

These are literally design nightmares. Some of the colour schemes are cool, but it all boils down to 'slap a bunch of vaguely related objects onto the clothing and call it accessories'.
furries don't know what "less is more" is when it comes to character design

I'd advise to check out teaparties closed species plush babies. A friend of mine owned a bunch some years ago and got caught in "swuper sewious you stole from me" drama and now she's blacklisted.

Im sure the story is posted here under some furry thread, but I can ask her again.

I seriously would turn down all of those collaboration characters so far in a commission - It looks like it would take forever to just draw all of the accessories, urgh.

Some commissioners seem lenient with commissioning complex designs and tell people they are allowed to simplify things if they think it's easier. I have a feeling folk who paid so much for a design would not be so lenient.

Imagine having a payment plan on furry art and especially a character. At least when you go to Rent-A-Center or use a finance plan on a brand new iPhone, you're getting an actual good in return. Even predatory car loans are less of a scam because you're getting a car in return instead of a character.

You'd think furries or the people that get art of their characters would have learned by now that tattoos and other complex shit is a royal pain in the ass for artists to draw and is guaranteed to get artists either asking if you want to tone it down or deny your commission outright. But nah, gotta spend thousands of dollars on this shit.

Also he has crabs. It also doesn't state where the crabs are. Over $2000 for a character that has crabs.
The crabs act as a 2nd form. Mignyans are supposed to be parasitic crab-like aliens that infect species from other planets and that's basically how they actually look naturally, without the host (meaning the humanoid form is just a body it's using). Their goal is to take over planets, basically.
If they undergo too much stress, the host's head literally blows up.
Why do I know this? I... honestly don't know.

It's worth mentioning that any accompanying material that uses an owned closed species adoptable could raise the "value" of that adoptable, and reselling is a norm in the closed species community. So if you got say a $100 commission of an adopt that was worth $2500, you're not gonna lower the reselling price, you're raising it.

[edit] Wording.

It would be nice to see some of these redesigned to managable character designs. It wouldn't be worth it since its wasting time you could use making your own ocs (and the ensuing freak outs), but it would be interesting.

Edit: You know, what happens when someone who does adoptables for over 5 years either gets tired of it and tried to move on or their star fades and they don't get any money anymore? Have there been reported cases of taking the skills you learned making sparkledogs and doing something with them? There's a lot of good artist out there, but I wouldnt be surprised if a few get stunted by doing it and have trouble with backgrounds and such.Aside from purplekecleon/glitchpuppet, iirc they made some. We all know how their series turned out, but their personality is their true stopper.

So, is it a girl, boy, or...
Cause this thing literally uses every pronoun under the sun. It's definitely alot better than the eyesores from above, though.

I understand wanting to do RP with fantastical characters and needing a sense of community, I play D&D. I just don't understand what compels these people to do this shit when there are free alternatives. anyone can trace a neopet and poorly shop a galaxy design on to a traced bad dragon dildo penis and have a grand old time doing... whatever the fuck it is that they do with it.

For most of them, it's also a status symbol. Yes, it's as insane as it sounds. The furry community places a high value on being able to swing your e-dick around with art money, even when it's clearly a grift or a really bad example of art.

Alrighty folks, the first Dainty/Mignyan hybrid has been posted. Did you place your bets for how high the autobuy would be?

Ding ding ding!

Wondering how long it took for it to be autobought? A whole 5 minutes after it was posted.

Ngl, I sorta like this one. Probably cause I'm a sucker for both punk and goth gals. Take off a lot of unnecessary detail and you've got a good design in your hands...

....but 2500 actual human Earth dollars? With all that cash, I could literally make my own cast of characters, buy Photoshop and ToonBoom Harmony (or Autodesk Maya), pay for voice actors and musicians AND half some money left over to buy a web domain and host the series there.

This exactly like watching an alcoholic pawn off their wedding ring for more whisky. It's so pitiful.
