That's the real tragedy though isn't it. There is a happy ending just sitting there, the characters would just have to reach out and grab it. They can't though. Maelle is going to kill herself staying in the painting, god knows what would happen to Aline after losing 2 children, and Renoir probably destroys the painting after.
The real tragedy is the writer adding this retarded real world shit.

New patch just dropped, boyz.
Maelle getting nerfed and some ultrawide fixes mostly.

I honestly didn't have technical issues or bugs in this game. I didn't think about it, at first, but a modern game that's not absolute dogshit broken on release, it's a very rare occurrence. Almost a unicorn.

I was really surprised how bug free the game is. Other than getting stuck on some environmental geography especially in the flying waters i havent encountered much.

I saw one bug in my playthrough. In act 3, if you do Lunas friendship quest then Monocos without returning to camp between, Line's scene will have Monoco standing in front of her while she talks

They fixed this in today's patch apparently.

If everyone was just a puppet for alicia and the mom to play with to escape reality, I can accept Verso's ending. But Lune and Sciele and others are far beyond what. Renior doesn't even try to counter their arguments and agrees they have a point. It's one thing to want to blow up an illusion and face reality, it's another when the painting world is an actual living breathing world.

They could've made it that the maelle ending has her keep her promise and leave the painting, while also keeping it alive for the people inside. Eventually as she grows up she gets over the loss of verso and returns less and less until she eventually becomes an absentee god that only a few remember. The painting is kept alive for the people that fought for it in the expeditions, but it is just a memory hidden in the attic for everyone in the real world.
Consider this from a larger perspective. The members of the Dessandre family are three-dimensional beings in a two-dimensional world. This world is essentially the same to them as any sort of entertainment media is to us. You can empathize with the characters, you can even mourn the characters, but ultimately they are not "real." The Canvas is, for all intents and purposes, a picture book created by Verso. The characters contained within at the time of Expedition Zero and Old Lumiere were either directly created by him, or are just a convenient result of the magic that creates the world when you paint a city or a general population of said city. This may even be a well-documented feature of this Canvas magic they use. All that is to say, that while Renoir completely understands the motivation of the characters in the Canvas and even empathizes with their reasoning. As a being from a higher dimension (so to speak), his concern is for his people and not these "fake" people.

To your second point, we actually have no information on if time even flows inside a Canvas with no Painter. For all we know, a Canvas may be completely inactive when there's no Painter interacting with it. There's no records from the time before The Fracture, so one could assume that time only started to flow once Aline entered the Canvas, Renoir followed shortly afterward (presumably some time after Aline had already painted her family in), then the Fracture occurred during their confrontation. So humanity does what it does and continues to propagate as years inside the Canvas pass. The Canvas lets Lumiere run like a little city of Sims doing its own thing while Renoir is trying to erase the Canvas bit by bit as Aline does what she can in her misery to keep her son's Canvas alive even as a shell of its original self. Maelle is only as attached as she is because she lived in the Canvas for sixteen years with none of the knowledge that she is from a higher plane of existence. When she erases the Painted Alicia, you can see she does it without emotion even as Verso mourns. She can no longer empathize on that level because she knows none of it is "real." Her ending is just her playing pretend so she can escape reality, and you can see she knows it while she sits and forces Verso to play along.

You can understand this being the in-universe opinion of the Dessandres since they hold no reverence to playing God and treat their creations as disposable toys for their amusement, but this does not mean either you as a player or the wider non-Painter public in the "real" world would agree with this. Reductively handwaving the sapient inhabitants of the Canvas as "fake" and equating that to having no right to their existence is a cop out, handwaving Renoir's trolley problem with his family on one end and an entire world on the other, by simply declaring the other track empty. He is completely aware and willing to embark on a cosmic scale genocide for the sake of a few individuals that personally matter to him, it's the driving force of his actions and shouldn't be pushed away. If you're meant to overcome your material attachment to Lumiere and its people and let it be erased, why is his attachment to his own close people be more valuable? Simply because they occupy a reality where the whims of a petty God aren't as pervasive?
A thousand eons of torture wouldn't absolve the family. Trapping Maelle and Verso in their own personal hells would only be a start.
Fuck the Demiurge.

That isn't even his worst mechanic either. You haven't been neglecting any members of your party have you?
Yeah, I got to that stage.
Fucking french faggots.
My plan is to nuke him before I get to that point, because the second team is Maelle and Monoco and while not exactly neglected, they can't compare to the A team.
If he's gonna be a nigger faggot, then I will nigger faggot him back.

I read it as Alicia already knowing what is going on in painted Alicia's mind and letting her go. She is affected, but she also knows it is for the best and is at peace with that, while Verso "fuck everyone the kid has to stop painting" Dessendre wants to convince her to live even as he's planning to betray everyone. And it doesn't matter if Alicia plays pretend or not, the lumiere people are still real.

The details are of course impossible to know for sure since the exact nature of painting magic isn't explained, but it seems that Renoir and others see them as unique beings, not just as simulations. He just wants his family back. If that means genociding a pocket dimension, then he's going to genocide that pocket dimension.

FUCKING FINALLY!
FUCK YOU SIMON, YOU FRENCH FAGGOT!
3 FUCKING HOURS OF MY FUCKING LIFE.
YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE A NIGGER FAGGOT WITH YOUR FAGGOT SKILLS? WELL, I AM THE KING OF NIGGER FAGGOTS IN THIS FUCKING GAME!
EAT SHIT!

Verso and Sciel are my MVPs.
Lune was there I guess.
Maelle and Monoco jacking off on the sidelines.
All is right in the world.

I equipped Verso with the sword that stays at rank A maximum.
I equipped every member with Cheater and Breaking Death (this being the most important).
In second phase, I got lucky and didn't eat any light speed attacks and once he killed one of my niggers, Breaking Death activates and using End Bringer from Verso, I would keep that asshole perma stunned until like 40-45% health, in the meantime, Sciel was consuming Foretells and I kept adding Sun charges.
Once I brought that asshole to like 40-45% (that is when I noticed he nuked my shit) I popped Twilight for mega damage and popped End Slice for a cool 28mil damage.
Eat my fucking dick, Simon, simp faggot!

Finally finished act 2. The plot sure took an interesting turn, which will probably make having sequels work quite well, but I can imagine some people not liking it for the implications of nothing being real (though it will make the likely conclusion quite meta).

It's nice having a burn victim that actually looks like one, though Maelle having burn as a big part of her gamestyle pretty horrifying, even being remade doesn't remove the trauma.

After the first time I got to his gay gimmick I just hit him with Stendhal the next fight, this was pre-nerf of course.
I wish game devs would stop putting unfun mechanics like that in games. At least he's optional (and his weapon isn't good)

Btw, is the picto of "on heal apply haste" hidden in a previous level? I really want it to further break the game

I have decided to skip this game purely because the title is fucking gay as fuck. When I saw this game on the steam frontpage I legitimately thought it was some sort of weebshit gatcha trash purely based on the title.
