I have low hopes for the remake.
What is even the point of a remake (besides money)? The plot is nonexistent and I absolutely can't see modern devs give the game the amount of enemy and location diversity of the original.
Well, let's put it this way: Painkiller is already everything TDA tried to be and failed. All you need it to polish up the game, make it faster paced maybe and add more content(for example, by including the "Battle Out of Hell" expansion). There, that's all you need and it will still wipe the floor with nu-doom. There is the justification for Painkiller reboot's existence.
If any FPS could use a little speeding up, it would be Painkiller. Not to much, mind you, just faster movement speed and maybe being able to use the titular Painkiller weapon as a grappling hook(it already functions like one, but it's only used for killing). That said, even without any gameplay changes, it will still be a GOAT, played the game recently and it hasn't aged a bit.
I think the only places that needed a speedup are the military based levels, and even there just reducing the area size would be enough.
