Okay, what variety we talk about in Painkiller. Theres no secret levels or bosses, theres no real change in levels themselves, theres the whole tarot card system, but its more about giving yourselves various buffs and doesnt alter the game all that much and instead forces you to play in a specific fashion to aquire them. If the levels had some variety, instead of just "go to arena and shoot waves of cannon fodder" id be more understanding

Wtf are you on about, every level has different enemies and some have fantastic design. It's not like Civvie reviews Deus Ex or some shit with multiple ways to do shit, every shooter is going into arena and shooting cannon fodder, ditto that you have no difference between secret levels in those videos.

Which brings me to another point against Civvie, which is that he doesn't say any interesting shit about graphics after the Build engine generation even if the upgrade in graphical capability to the era is noticable.
 
I think Painkiller sucks. I hate all of those Serious Sam style arena FPS. It's just the laziest possible game design: design a huge area and just flood it with enemies and have the player hold S most of the time. Fuck that.

Okay, cool each level has different enemies and arena designs. But again, what does Painkiller offer besides that? Is there some combo thing where you can unlock cards by doing stylish kills with different weapons? No. Are there secret levels you can look for? No. Are there secret bosses? No. Do the enemies need to be fought by using your arsenal? Not really, in most cases you can by using 2-3 weapons, while the other guns can be forgotten.

Even if other games Civvi covered, they least offered something to spicy up stuff.

Civvie has a weird elitism over arena shooters, as if corridor shooters are some big IQ alternative. And the ridiculous thing is that Painkiller is more interesting than 95% of the shit he reviews favourably. Nearly every stage has unique enemies and the level design is amazing (opera house, babel). Nevermind some of the best weapons in a video game. Just showcasing every unique level (which is nearly all of them barring maybe the second military base) is already half an hour of the material.

But no, it's way more interesting to talk about some indie shit that he isn't allowed to criticise and that it contains memes.

Thing is that Painkiller is BORING to watch. There isn't much to talk about, the game is very competently made but it doesn't have much else going for it other than shooting different baddies in different levels. Serious Sam episode had a similar problem, but there civvie had plenty of games to talk about, not just one. If it wasn't for it's jank and it's bizarre story, Neurovision video would also be a lot less entertaining.
I for one like his indie reviews because if not for him, I likely wouldn't have ever heard of most of these games, and it's nice to see someone talk about the classics for once too. Slavjank videos like this one are my favorite since there is dozens I probably don't know about that are a goldmine, Civvie did plenty of videos on them but TehSnakerer also did one on a game called "Neuro" which I think Civvie could make an interesting video on too.
I don't care for his memes, but at least he's somewhat self aware about his character and videos. One of the only ones I like is the foundation/prison or whatever constantly forcing him to engage with Youtube's algorithm, like in the latest Neurovision video.
Speaking of which, he shilled the Mandalore one so I will likely watch that soon. He did a good Marathon retrospective, it's interesting that Civvie hasn't covered that one yet since it's one of the more beloved classic FPS games.

Something interesting is he makes a mention to something called "Bi-Brow" at 6:42. If you go to the actual UrbanDictonary page, it was a phrase created 3 years ago, with 6 thumbs up.

Which makes me question, how does Civvie know it? This also forces a bunch of uncomfortable questions, one of which literally begs to be asked:
could it be that Civvie got groomed at certain point of time or IS a groomer? To be honest both variants might might be true, interconnect between and neither would surprise me.

I think "Katey" is a tranny and that's where it ends. Civvie is a loser virgin, so he doesn't want to offend trannies, but also spends a lot of time with them on discord, so that's how he knows all these obscure terms.
Funny how his schtick is covering oldschool FPS games, that's like the last genre you would expect trannies and their simps to thrive in

Boomshoot community is filled with genderspecials and sexual deviants at this point, this is definitely breaking news to everyone who has ever been paying attention to boomshoot social media and boomshoot content creators over the last half-decade.

It's almost like being socially adjacent in any capacity with the mentally ill may or may not help you pick up on some of their language over time, especially if you have your own little subcommunity because of your content creation.

Doubleposting because this thread hasn't moved in about 4 hours and I don't want to tack this point onto my commentary about genderspecial snowflakes.

One little short blurb about the main character's insinuated bisexuality aside, this was actually a pretty entertaining video out of Civvie. One of his better ones in a long while.
 
Ya know, I gotta ask was I the only one reminded of the Messiah game with all the possession mechanics and needing various personal guys to get around?
