Actually even before the fall of the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall. Most 80s movies use most of either Eastern European or Middle Eastern as the villains in movies or shows.
The Mujahadeen comes to mind with that one James Bond movie and couple other depictions. I remember things even before that cause middle easterners were a schemey villain thing since the 50s, if not in America then definitely in Britain cause I remember it sorta started with the media about the North African Campaign and the Nazis, stuff like five graves to cairo, Casablanca all that and later continued on with stuff like Lawrence of Arabia, Khartoum, Mackennas gold stuff like that. Even in stuff like Im Alright Jack theres an Islamic Emirate Prince placing mass orders for missiles with the Brits.

I was thinking more of the "eat lead, sand nigger" type of hollywood action movies, the kind that sort of hints at what the approved enemy of america is at that moment.

Thats the gulf war sandniggers, the filthy allahu akbar suicide bombing wife beating lil shits era in the late 80s and 90s. But the idea of the arabic billionaire benefactor and arab footsoldiers distributed across the middle east/north africa was a prominent thing in British media from the late 50s like I said. Admittedly it was something used to give all the spy stories some reason to send the characters to an "exotic location" ie Casablanca, Dubai, Cairo whatever. It was also probably due to the British occupation of places like Israel, Iraq and other parts of the middle east back before the second world war which made Brits put the middle east in all their stories.

Post 9/11 there was a switch in how the media perceived arabs from goofy idiot terrorists to more serious actual threat. Post 2008 though they started to be more humanized to the point it's very rare to see them. But usually in all versions they end up being a pawn of a white guy

It could just be the name "Soldier of Fortune" that triggered it.

BTW: the magazine Soldier of Fortune is a honey pot setup by the feds.
Who could forget their Slick Willie Watch column that they ran when Clinton was in office?

Actual ad from one of their magazines. NGL, I want the Get Even book just for the cover alone.

New video, the RoT remake. I watched Gmanshills video of it yesterday and watching the Civvie video really highlights the difference between the two. Civvie brings up all the effort put into it, like the changes, the additions, new options, quality of life improvements, names of people involved and why it's neat that they're doing something while Gman just drones on about whatever.

Pretty fun review, nice to have devs that give a damn.

It's patently clear that they really wanted this to be the best remake it could be. Even though the game's not up my alley, it's stuffed with the kind of good-hearted autism that I can't help but appreciate, especially with modern "remakes" just being the bare minimum of effort.
Godsped, you mad bastards.

Turok 3 Night Dive remaster is happening. It was a very ambitious game and tried to be like a Half-Life on the N64. The Turok character is dead in this one (I think) so you can play as two different characters. The main criticism of the game is that the enemy count is very sparse and fans/game journo's didn't like the change from a jungle location to an urban location.

Big question: will this have online multiplayer or are Night Dive waiting on doing a remaster of Rage Wars? All I want next is just a decent port of Turok: Evolution with actual mouse controls and I will be good.

Nice to hear, that's a game I've been curious about for a long time because it seemed to change things up so much that it almost seemed like Prey in some way. But it has been trapped on the N64 and the controls and performance is abysmal.

New episode:

Jesus Civvie's positive reviews on new games are just a bore fest. I gave up after 10 minutes, just saying "look how awesome it is" over and over again, usually to shit that's trying way too hard to be cool.

Also started Amid Evil and at least the first two chapters are way too easy even on hard, I heard there is a secret harder than hard difficulty but I don't know if it's worth it or it makes the game a chore to play
