There's a rule for liberals to shill Canada as a perfect USA, yet of course they'll never agree to move there. Also would the rebels even use Dollars? Either they'd use their own currency, unrelated currency (definitely not Canadian) or bartering.
Why so much emphasis on this? It's like they are trying to imply the FBI, as part of the Intelligence Community, is the real power behind the throne 🤔
Decades of media propaganda convinced normies that the FBI are the good guys without political motivation.

Unless they go after blacks, then the FBI becomes the devil and totally lied about martin king jr.'s evils... and then the FBI goes after drumpf and suddenly they are infallible again. All so tiresome.

I mean I guess there's more subtle hints. A few Gadsen flags are shown and there's the Boogaloo Boys (wow, so topical, it's like I'm back in early 2020!) but it just kinda feels toothless and bland.
I don't think they're Gadsen flags, which would've been very easy for the filmmakers to acquire, though I understand that it would be anyone's go-to thought when it comes to yellow flags. Maybe they're meant to indicate the mysterious New People's Army from the Northwest.

The gas station attendants dealing with the currency are obviously uninvolved local civilians defending their shit in an invaded Loyalist state (probably Pennsylvania) that would still officially use USD, a currency that would obviously be destroyed in value given the circumstances. Seems totally plausible that CAD would be the best alternative, originating from a big neighboring country that's presumably not war-torn. What, you think pound or euro bills would be more plentiful there? You think that civilians in societal breakdown would be picky and turn down a superior foreign currency out of prideful "fuck Canada" sentiment?

I just watched it. It was meh. The biggest fantastical notion in the movie was that Texas and California are working together.

What I liked:
Journos getting killed (eventually and too few of them)
Some nice cinematography
It was 90 minutes long, not some retarded 3 hour monstrosity
Sound design was crispy

What I didn't like:
Journos being alive for around 90% of the movie, wish they died way before and more viscerally
Main characters being boring as fuck
Failing to make me care about the MCs
Too few gunfights

Overall I felt very little and I feel like I wasted my money a bit. Godzilla was better.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk
Not enough Journoscum were killed in the movie especially when they dropped the line about how the Presidents loyalists forced in DC shoot journalists on site and how the journey to DC would be so dangerous.

Meanwhile once they get to the Army camp at Charlottesville (because of course they had to reference Unite the Right) they just manage to waltz into DC because the Pentagon and all the Generals surrendered and the President only had a few diehard loyalists.

The only part I liked was when the Presidents motorcade convoy got shot at and rammed by other Humvees and Tanks.

Handmaids tale has/had the same problem where they assume the US collapses but Canada remains as is.

Like Canada totally wouldn’t just collapse when their largest trading partner and purchaser of raw materials is having civil strife.

Issue is that Canada is way more dependent on the USA and will probably have American insurgents starting shit in. Mexican currency will probably be worth more than CAD.

I might've watched this (for free) but after the Critical Drinker's review, it looks like they pussed out on the entire backstory about there being a war. I can tell why all the normie critics loved it though, puts 'journalists' on a pedestal.

If they had made it about something like a right-wing take over after liberal rule, or a commie one after a right rule, I'd have been more interested. He praises the action scenes at at the end, maybe I'll just watch those sometime.

Garland probably would have gotten more success if this story was set in 1980s Former Yugoslavia. Everyone agrees no one there was good and people died for no reason. Really seems like someone should have stopped this movie in Pre-production because Civil War in America is an inherently political topic and making it non-partisan was never going to work, especially when the industry itself is partisan.

A movie about the Yugoslav war would really just come down to who you think made the more funny turbofolk songs. Which is actually more contentious. Historical claims are boring, but God Is A Serb vs bojna čavoglave is the real shit.

In case any film makers are browsing. Make a "Battle of the bands" goofy comedy set in Yugoslavia where all the turbofolk bands fight for their lands at the battle of the bands. I'm telling ya, straight kino!

The lone survivor will be Baja Mali Knindža, the only logical winner.

The movie is unrealistic because if there's one thing that both violent far right and far left groups agree on, it's that journos from media corporations are untrustworthy scum that should be removed with prejudice.

This is just a mainstream liberal cope fantasy.

Yep I'm disappointed that you didn't see people shoot journalists on sight even though at the beginning they mentioned how Ron Swanson's Washington DC shot Journos on sight.

Also that Swanson disbanded the FBI.

The climax adds more to how unrealistic this movie is. If the president is a dictator, you think he would have made it nearly impossible for Washington, D.C., much less the White House, to be invaded. Also, why wasn't he taken to the White House bunker when the fighting started?

I think the easiest explanation is that Garland is a fucking br*ton and a hack who is far more worried about his garbage message than any sort of good storytelling or factual consistency with reality.

It's obvious people on this thread seem to have put more thought into the setting than Garland did. He was making a movie about "muh brave journalists" and a 2ACW was just the most eye catching way he found to disperse it.

imagine the universe where texas and california need to team up in a civil war. how fucking bad of a civil war does it need to be for that to happen?
As I mentioned earlier, it depends on who's seceding. If it's Latinos, it's more plausible because they all care about their own interests, don't hold the law in high regard, and have a native language and culture that doesn't mix with White America. Garland's reasoning is absolute shit though, as California is perfectly fine with giving emergency powers to Gavin Newsom to close small businesses and mask mandates and social distancing. Leftist supreme court judges starting with Kagan do not care about the Constitution and it can be read in all their opinions.
Californians will allow for fascism provided it's a Leftist fascist, so they will not lead a war to oust a president. They have trouble ousting Berkeley protestors and shoplifters.

Still doesn't address how it's just those two states, but a whole bunch of loyalist states are between them and somehow, the loyalist states are so shit at war that the battle for D.C. can even take place.

I wonder if they might be I'm-so-smart references to the Yellow Turban Rebellion from Romance of the Three Kingdoms. An oddly Sinophile in-joke but who knows.

But they were a peasant rebellion frustrated with the government's general corruption. They weren't people that formed a state and after they were crushed, whoever was left were common criminals. The idea of the Han dynasty falling apart along state lines is more analogous to the 18 lords who broke from their common cause due to constant politicking.

I know its fictional movie
But I live in California and if it was up to Gavin Newson and Dems, the 2nd Amendment would be abolished.
Not to mention the crazy crime, some stores closing and criminals having more rights than the victims.

So, I find it pretty damn hilarious that California of all states would be up in arms against the US government and an alliance with Texas.
Let me put it this way. If America was being invaded by Russia (for the shitlibs)
And the Russians were off the coast of California and Texas
I would rather be in Texas than California.
