Honest criticism:
Can not die
Motion blur
Can't tab out of the timer, had to sit there behind the box for 1,5 minutes
Lidl Drip is unkillable

Overall, 5/10

I am disconcerted that I have been unable to kill the man behind the counter in the vape shop. Is this a bug or social commentary?

EDIT: My aged machine sounded like it might be on the brink of a stroke during the final level but I soldiered on. I have now been referred to Prevent.

I need tech support, I press Y to open the game and my screen froze. I think I am too dumb to use a virtual machine, this is my first time using it and I had to turn on CPU virtualization in BIOS.

I will be playing on the webasm version instead.
My instructions on the website specifically tell people not to use VirtualBox because of performance issues. It's totally untested. I don't know if it works or not. I have tested it in vmware and qemu. Make sure to turn on the Intel VT-x or AMD-V in your BIOS, and inside your VM software. qemu needs KVM mode, TCG emulation will not work.

Why a retro game uses 80% of my cpu? Am I missing some dependency? (linux)
CyberChud engine uses SOFTWARE RASTERIZATION. It does not use the GPU except to display the framebuffer to the screen. The engine, ideally, when uncapped, would use 100% of all cores all the time. If that's too much, you must cap the framerate, which I default cap to 60.

It is difficult to make a performance comparison considering there are no other game engines which do psuedo-modern lighting in software rendering circa 1995.

I cannot use the GPU for anything meaningful without breaking TempleOS compatibility.

It feels nice that this project was made out of respect for terry however using code that comes from a machine funded by the very same companies terry hated feels the same as of someone was to add wifi or ethernet connectivity to templeos.

Today, on the 8th anniversary of Terry Davis' death I release my 7th annual TempleOS tribute: ChudBound 2, sequel to the heckin' wholesome indie-slop adventure, now in FIRST PERSON.
This looks really clean. Thank you for all the effort you put into keeping Terry's dream alive. o7

If LLMs can work on my bare metal TempleOS codebase, it can work on yours. It's so fucking over.
I think a lot of programmers feel threatened by it, because it's their special power or whatever. In reality I see non-programmers, and junior programmers burn massive tokens going in circles doing nothing. It seems to be very unusual for programmers to run on $20/month plans. I think this is because I use LLMs as a code generation tool as opposed to talking to it like a consultant. Programmers still have that special power.

I think that most programmers haven't been writing code long enough to get over the imposter syndrome, as well as they usually don't seem to understand what's going on with "AI" and LLMs. The worst thing you can do is anthropomorphize this shit; you know it's pretty bad when a dev starts saying "Claude thought better and did X instead of Y" and the reality is that no "thought" was ever achieved.
My biggest frustration is that if you don't know the structure of what you doing, AI isn't all that good at helping you figure that shit out.

It's a give and take. A force-multiplier when you know what you are trying to architect, a nightmare if you don't have the pre-requisite knowledge.

I currently (for work) burn thousands each month vibing software for custom solutions, we generate 100k+ lines a month on some projects. The 15+ years of writing software has given me more than enough XP to know when to tell the LLM to stop and fix what it just did, or do the hand edits which are always fun.

You should look into local LLMs for grunt work... use a frontier model for orchestration/dispatch and local LLMs like Qwen to write code, search the CB, etc. Also I strongly recommend looking into Kimi k3, it's been very helpful and K2.7 coder is great at quick code-gen.

You really had to ruin it all with clankerslop. This is just heresy.

This is, hands down, 100 percent NIGGERLICIOUS! At that point why not just ditch VGA and use VESA 2.0 24 bit color video?
Terry said 3 things
640x480
16 colors
single voice PC speaker

That is the constraint. Cope and deal with it. Cry about AI, and you'll never stop crying.

I can take credit for ruining him on this.

Since this is a custom game engine for TempleOS you can't just use video drivers from nvidia so he rolled his own. There was an issue in his system he could not fix. I tasked Claude to fix after Opus 4.8 came out and it was able to solve it in a day. He was shocked because TempleOS doesn't have traditional memory management but Claude was able to understand his custom garbage collection and build on it. After that I don't think he had any more reservations about AI.

Btw I have no idea how to write code in C. The only time I ever did anything in C directly was when I wrote a very, very small add-on for nginx. So someone with zero experience in either game dev or C was able to fix an esoteric video rendering issue for a custom game engine he'd never touched before on an esoteric operating system written by one dead man.
That's honestly incredible.

And before I forget: Rest in peace, Terry Davis.

It still feels like Terry Davis passed away only two years ago, not eight years ago. I am still adjusting to the fact that KingcobraJFS has also passed. Sometimes I forget that KingcobraJFS is no longer with us.
Feels like the wholesome lolcows always end up passing away young. Me awhile the pedos, animal fuckers, granny fucker, and trannies somehow are living to their 50’s. Fuckin hate it.

RIP KingCobraJFS
RIP Terry Davis
