The only sound heard besides a self confident “Hmm-yeah” will be the sound of Chris’s (most likely already drunk) defenders head hitting the table.

Chris is also pretty weak-willed and takes the path of least resistance whenever possible, so if his lawyer told him to take a plea-deal and everything would be over faster he'd probably do it.

And no, that’s not how things work.

(Yeah, most cases never make it to trial, the prosecutor “overcharges” and offers a sensible plea bargain, the defendant takes because he doesn’t want to gamble.)

But first of all, the prosecutor needs to offer a plea deal. It’s far from certain and depends on a whole bunch of factors.


Secondly, Chris needs to accept the plea deal, which is also far from certain.
Last time he got offered one, he fought like a cretin to avoid it.


Saying that this will end in a plea deal is like saying it’ll rain on the first Thursday of next month. It may, it may not. It’s too early to say.

He should have been arranged by today if they haven't The charges could be dropped just like that. Granted just because it hasn't been publicly announced doesn't mean it hasn't happened
Edit some are saying because this happened over the weekend they have until tomorrow to formally charge Chris . Fair point but it still stands if he isn't charged soon the case could rendered dropped and at best Chris could be faced with whatever negligence reckless conditions he was keeping barb and the pets in and frivolous litigation at most.

I mean if the defence do their homework into the Rob Bell debacle they'll probably declare Chris unfit to stand trial regardless. Its clear that his decision making process is nonexistant.

I understand. I'm not defending this girl, but this is the same thing we said about Chris. The law is too reactive and could stand to team up with the psychological and Healthcare fields to execute primary interventions that would catch people like Chris before they were allowed to strike.

The Chandler's blew their inheritance on a lawyer when Snyder had them dead to rights for attempting to run him over, I really hope someone in the system is lurking on here or the cwicki it's all they need to realize Chris is a mentally incompetent moron that needs some discipline but he'll never survive in prison, he'll never learn to "get with the program" there he'll just annoy the inmates till they bash his head in too hard or hire one of the lifer's to kill him.

Yes, Chris loves the path of least resistance, and is a firm believer in shitting your pants and doing nothing.

However: Chris is also incredibly stubborn and stupid.

Take “Da Merge” for example. Was that the path of least resistance? Or playacting like Sonichu for like a year?

Chris also HATES to be “misunderstood”

Chris doesn’t think he did anything wrong and has a good part of his personality tied up in being “kind and caring”.

I could totally see him refuse some sweetheart deal of a two year suspended sentence, and instead risk ten years in the slammer if it means he doesnt have to say: “Yes, I Christine Weston Chandler is a rapist and raped my 80 year old mother!”

You're not necessarily wrong. If you'd have asked me about Chris the day before this broke I'm sure I'd have said something very similar and I'd have been horrifically mistaken.

Part of the issue is also our emphasis on individual liberties - we've chosen to have a more reactive legal system. Look at, for example, what the UK does with Anti-Social Behavior Orders. They're like restraining orders on steroids - Oh, you keep going into the city center and acting a fool, starting fights? You're banned from the city center now. There's one I'm aware of where a guy had to check into the police station every time his soccer team played and stay there till it was over because of his repeated hooliganism. Stuff we can't even imagine as within the power of the law.

I think Chris will ultimately take the plea deal but like you said he's going to fight tooth and nail to not accept it. His poor lawyer is going to have to trudge through 10 tons of delusions and narcissism just to gamble on Chris wising up for a second. We'll see in the end how this turns out

No offense, but that sounds... Incredibly scary and as an incredibly bad idea.

(As anyone with experience with law, social systems and healthcare can attest to.)

For every Chris you’d catch, there’ll be a dozen harmless spergs caught in the net, having to prove they’re preemptively innocent.

how much of the actual public interest is going to factor in? Chris and Barb are and have been a nusience to virginia for decades now; what's the odds on just having barb committed to an institution and chris given some sort of custodial term with lots of deductibles and a suspended sentence over 5 years or so to just make this go away? I can't imagine turning this into a major case does a lot for the state's image and they'll want to keep it low key

So, out of interest, 'step' relations are considered incest in some places and it looks like Virginia is one of them. If step-sibling sex is illegal and there's a stepbrother and sister both of consensual age and happily fucking away not harming anyone, is this something that will generally be dropped and not charged?
