Are the players able to see what spectators type in the "Spectator room?" I think it'd be more fun if you can see the spectators heckle you during informal games.

I guess not. Probably so nobody can spoil by helping. I guess we'll just have to heckle in the thread.

My biggest mistake was getting too cocky, I completely forgot kings are still capable of defending themselves. Lost a bishop and a queen because of that.

I can get to about 50/50 on level 2, can't even get close on level 3, mated in under 10.

I struggle at 3 sometimes, 4 is about my limit. There's a huge gulf between "I know how the pieces move", "I can find an easy mate in the first 30 moves" and "I can beat Stockfish level 5".

I'm going to repeat this for everyone : Castling is vital to becoming a decent player. Learn how to do it, when to do it and fight like hell to maintain your ability to do it. Don't go moving your king out of check when you can sacrifice a piece instead. Castling (usually) moves your king to a safer area and mobilizes a rook in the same move. It's crazy to neglect it.

Castling is about all I do remember from playing as a teen. About ten minutes ago, I remembered en passant existed and promptly got annoyed that I'd forgotten it at all...
