Are there any good books to learn chess? I tried Bobby Fisher's old book, but it seemed really dull and outdated; it felt like I'd get more from lessons on Chess.com.
Speaking of Chess.com, I tried learning a few openings through their videos, but they are so dry. I expected abstract ideas behind the opening, but instead I got a stream of "if your opponent moved their A to X, move your B to Y". I'd rather stay at 600 ELO that suffer through this.
