My professional econ fear is never. The thing is, what electronics we need for ECUs etc is nonsense weak. I can live tune current gen GM v8s from my fucking cell phone (and my Honda but thats a obd1 wired car).

What really is shocking no one thought hard wire an Ipad to do everything from dial your AC temp to your fuel mapping.

Plus it would be something simple like iOS vs retarded car systems. Ford tried and flopped with SYNC because windows phone was trash and Windows 8 is/was cancer.

With all the gas drama, taxes and laws.. but people are asking comical prices. I think once economy settles the crashing and inflation slows (while not regressing) things will settle a bit. There's just so much going on that puts cars on the chopping block for the avg person.

Deals are still out there as a hold over while my friend's GF (who bought before they dated) mitsu SUV is busted copped a sunfire (aka classy cavilier) for less than 2k gonna fix the shitsu and sell for near MSRP probably.

Yeah OBDI in my limited experience just gives you the flashing light in the wheel well for your codes lmao
 
Does anybody know how to remove old vinyl wrap off the roof of my car?

At first glance I thought the color was ruined, then, when I washed the my car, I noticed my cloth became dirty with some sort of black powder after I passed it on the roof.

Then I tried scratching the black spots with my fingernail and turns out it was an old ass vinyl wrap and there is still the original color underneath it.

I tried using an old credit card to scratch off the rest of the vinyl and not ruin the color underneath but it takes too long and in some spots I can't manage to remove the wrap easily.

Is there something I can use or some product to apply that can help get rid of this black wrap and doesn't ruin the original color at the same time? Ty in advance.

I'd use a heatgun, some plastic spatulas from goodwill, and lots of patience. You want to get that thing nice and goopy.

Alternatively, I've seen people use a pressure washer to take them off

Yes. That's about right for semiconductor factories and TSMC isn't even going to give us the good semiconductor factories. They keep those in Taiwan so that we have a vested interest in keeping Taiwan number one when China starts wanting to claim them.

It took an act of congress to get the car manufacturers to even put the port in so you could get your flashy light. I won't fuck with a EFI OBDI vehicle unless they want a swap. It's too much of a pain in the ass. I'd rather sit with a vacuum gauge and a timing light and read spark plugs than deal with that shit. When OBDII came out in 96 it really was the awakening of a new era when it came to engine tuning.

I don't go anywhere without my ob2ii Bluetooth adapter. Even grey beard car guys have their world turned upside down when I can read their codes and clear their CLE from my phone. I used to keep it mounted on my dash for gas mileage and engine load while towing. For $5 on ebay you can get right into the meat of your car's ECU

Don’t leave that plugged into your car all the time. They start to do weird shit. The circuit to power the diagnostic port is not designed to power a blue tooth device 24/7.

I accidentally left one of those elm bluetooth obd2 readers in my car for little over a week with no adverse effects. This is on a BMW that's sensitive to electronic fluctuations too.

I remember that Hyundai overrated the efficiency of their engines back in the mid 2010s. The 4 bangers they used then are dirty things barely topping out in the high 20mpg highway for the cars.
 
Im the odd one out in this I forgot I left an OBD II in my XJ for a few days and it ended up running my battery flat. so thats the most I can say for it, but keep in mind its also an old shitbox.

It's a 91 civic, rewired for Obd1, was an OBD0 car. OBD1 let me tune a lot better via Crome. In my youth I was pretty balls deep into the go fast honda people (including helping fix a chink turbo mani) Ostrich, lets you plug into multiple things and one of them is micro usb.

If you aren't into live tuning, perhaps my post sounded stupid etc, but I was more so trying to expand how much the options etc are growing.

Either way, my cars are faster than what you own. Promise

Literally, the OBDII was not designed to have something plugged into it 24/7. It's a diagnostic port, not a 'lemme put the kewl gauges on my phone so I can see what up'. The Volkswagen and Audis of the mid 00's were the biggest cause of weird shit. They would have the strangest ass codes, the throttle body would stop accepting adaption sometimes. They just do weird shit.

I have been out of the Honda game for 10+ years now. I had no idea what Crom was! Doing some research it's pretty cool. I used to do all of my Honda turning with Hondata.

I am curious what kind of cars you have. Because this is the farms™ I really do not wanna power level myself and revel too much shit about me. With that said in the garage down stairs right now I've got an SVT and SRT in there. I've been in the automotive industry for over 20 years now, seen pretty much everything.

Yeah, and I didn't expand because ... whiskey, but the chinese company basically, had my friend and myself solve some issues with their crap kits it was for a Honda B series motor, t 3/t4 and the manifold was prone to cracking due to weight we gave it some fucking around and then next gen solved this. It kinda turned into a cheap copy of "Drag"s kit.

Hondata is still great and back in the day the ONLY option, in fact when the RSX 7th gen civics came out for a long time the "K" motors Hondata was the ONLY way to go even when the older stuff had more offerings.

As far as my stable, I've posted pics before (I'd feel safer showing my dick than my plate here lol) and next time I wash I'll have to do another photo shoot, but in order of slow to fast :
1961 TR3a, needs paint, like literally it's fun but needs love I rebuilt her myself like from a box of parts, i'll spare anyone reading the whole story unless they are into old english stuff.
1991 Civic, literally my first car. I am an old fart going grey but still got her. 2L GSR swap (b18c1) rollers confirm 193WHP, the exhaust manifold was made exactly for this motor by RMF (if you remember the name)
1987 Firebird, 400 Pontiac swap (they don't over heat like they got a bad rap for) lots of work, cage (I'm getting REALLY sick of door bars.) oodles of nawzzzzz
2013 Jaguar XKR-S just a tune and pulley swap, rollers gave her a whopping 603WHP. The car was rated 550... then drive train loss, so this is some magic ringer.

I'm sure you have/had something as if not faster but just a little fun smack talk , because if we aren't driving or working on cars, we gotta brag about it.

Edit: I'm waiting on another car to be here, but due to being from a friend and logistical stuff I won't have her till Aug, and it's a Lexus SC300 93, and I have a spare TH350...they bolt up to the motor wonder if... a non turbo supra motor and a beefy 3 speed might want a big hulking spinny boi.
 
I'm out of work trucks. They're all off being driven by other employees or sold off. I'm down to my 90s convertible at 140 hp (🌈) and my VW 1914 at about 90 hp after changing out the jugs and a hot cam. Wake me up when I can buy a decent truck for <$4000
