I've owned my 2013 gt500 for 7 years now. Bought it with 3.3k miles, currently sitting at 7900 now. Dragged it at a local track multiple times. Replaced the hood prop with actual struts, removed the supercharger silencer, and put some toyo proxes on the rear for some actual grip.

Prior to this I owned a 2003 cobra, and a 2012 boss 302. The gt500 reminds me a lot of the 03 cobra, just without the ball busting clutch.

Anyway, on the topic of ICE vs electric my take is this:

ICE is not dead, but certainly on the way out. Not that I am happy about it. I've driven in Teslas in ludicrous mode, and they are certainly quick/fast. Despite that, they are boring. Pedestrian. There is no drama. No rumble. No whine, no whistle, no spool.

Not to discount those that like them, but for me the excitement just isn't there.

Flush your gross 90s coolant flush your gross 90s coolant flush hour gross 90s coolant

You can buy pH test strips at your local parts store to see if it's still coolant and not block melter

re: Mazda, ICE, Europe, etc:

Ferrari and Lamborghini have applied for waivers on emission laws/EV laws due to them being "low volume" and "boutique", so if granted, that will extend ICE for them a bit longer.

Honestly, I'd love it if both Ferrari and Lambo put out small liter V12's with hybrid boost. Would love to hear a 2 liter V12 revving out to 9k again.

Ferrari already made a vehicle like that, the La Ferrari.

Nice pony list :drink: Termis are fucking peak SN95 and just soft spot for me, the boss series is so well laid out, love em and well the GT500 is the big daddy nasty snake. What did you find an issue about the clutch? Having owned t56 cars and perhaps used to cable and shit, I didn't think they were bad, did you have an aftermarket deal or just not fan of the feel/pressure etc?

So I'm ready to eat crow those ford mavericks are selling like hot cakes to point ford is saying we can't take more orders right now. Heard a few people sick of Tesla wait jumping on the Emustang. With prices and drama now it's really hard to shop even though I really want something else in the stable.

I loved everything about the termi including the clutch. Everything had a nice mechanical feel in that car, making the feedback to you, the driver great imo.
Unfortunately due to some conditions when I was younger, my ankles are shot. It eventually became really painful to use the clutch.
Termi is the car I still think about all these years later the most, drive one if you can.

Nice thing for you is modern autos are quite good. VW with their DSG/PDK and any competent implementation of the ZF8 are great trannies.

Sorry to hear about the injury, ah ok I was wondering if you had an issue with your clutch or the trans didn't think how yeah even stock and with the hydro system it could be an issue for medical stuff.

I daily a semi (real deal) and have owned some autos but I just like my 3rd pedal.

Reminds me, there was a guy who had a SN95 mach1, back when that was a thing in the early 00s had the 4.6 but DOHC like the cobra but not as intense, some retro touches nice car. His first mod was had a trans problem swapped on a t56 REALLY woke that car up, iirc he had some gears or it was 4.10s stock? Either way I owned my 99z28 with bolt ons and the time so we became quickly friendly rivals and loved each others cars, I always just edged him (I swear my ls1 was made by sober people for once it was a factory ringer) post the trans swap.

Then one day he was like so basso I love this car and I'm gonna put cash into it and keep for ever, he was well over 600WHP with a pro charger that thing hustled. Wonder what happened to him, and never got to take him against my bird or the Jag.. shame.

In other car news Nissan is claiming a stripped Z will be UNDER 30k, now with the shortage and dealer mark ups (not Nissans fault mind you) no one will see that, I suspect 50s esp if we are short like we are when it drops. I think this Z is going to be a winner, but I am still chewing the crow on my maverick flop prediction, so maybe I should shut up.

So mustangs, even the high test ones, use a clutch cable and not a hydraulic circuit? Because if it was hydraulic you could switch out a master cylinder to change the pedal feel.

Sorry about the injury though that must be awful for someone who enjoys driving manual.

I think one of my first posts in this thread was asking about buying a maverick for another company car to replace our econoline panel van. The thing is that in our business we need to move some things, but people who aren't used to driving a vehicle larger than a Hyundai sonata keep bashing the poor thing into poles. I'm approved for the money to buy one, but I'm probably just going to get a f-150 at this rate.

Anyone have good takes on low-end 4 door pickups? Like 2010s? Imagine a complete moron driving it. I don't want anything with power so we're not tempting anyone. Around the 200hp mark would be perfect. I just don't have any great experience with V6s in full sized trucks

I'm sorry if I worded shit like a retard, hydro took over for a lot of reasons, cable is older and well if youre insane like myself, more direct, better feel and "faster" hydro also has bonus if youre in a truck or something big (talking clutch size wise even say termis vettes etc) less work on your leg.

A cable clutch literally, you pull the clutch by using a cable hydro theres a slave to move fluid to do it for you when you press the clutch in.

Now older things with a cable say a old ass pick up not a racy thing the clutch disk will be big and heavy and suck. Then factor in sporty clutches etc. For example, my dad who's a boomer and dailies a stick can't drive my little honda the clutch is fucking nasty (6 puck ACT race) cable. I've literally broke a pedal using it Hydro has fluid to both smooth things and take the leg work out.

I hope this makes sense, if not I'll retype and link wikis lol.

Eh, with what your company does, how much weight you dealing? Those econolines are great on low cost upkeep etc. So I mean, I'm trying to educate myself on the mav, since I'm more a car person than a brand fanboy etc. Maybe an idea?

Now in regards to v6 pick ups, eh, for full size I almost always shun them for two reasons one don't get a pick up, or go smaller. Now logic? If you aren't using the v8 you shouldn't have it it's wasted gas. Second if you don't need it go smaller and get something better fitting, ranger colorado etc. So again, I don't know what you need for work, but say you need to push a lot of weight often, the v6 will be maxed out and the 8 won't so you'll lose MPG over all and life span.

Personally I owned one f-150 and it was BOSS fun, stripper AF with the 5.4 thing ripped and then I was like wtf do I need this for and flipped it for a nice profit. Pick ups are fun.

For full size I personally would never get a v6 (aside eco boost on a lease or the i6 TD but thats another story) I think youre better in a smaller truck or an 8.

Neat thing car wise as we are talking when I picked up the pizza tonight a baller G wagon was next to me, man I'd love one.

I own a relatively modern car with a clutch rod instead of a hydro clutch, and I have a much older one with a cable clutch that feels like driving a tractor. I love the clutch rod because it's about as direct as you can get before shoving your hand in the tranny.

I should have specified this isn't for me, this is for part timers dropping off small pieces (6' long and under) of equipment and keeping up appearances while they're at it. We're keeping the econolines for the old timers, but there's a few people who have had multiple accidents that I've tried to get the keys taken away from them, but things get complicated there.

While something like a Colorado or a ranger might be good, I really hate the new midsize trucks. I'm not a big person but it feels like I can barely squeeze in them with my work boots. I hate tiny pedal boxes with a passion.

The point is, I want something that looks sharp because it's going to be vinyl wrapped and have a sound system installed for parades like our other vehicles, must be practical, and dummy simple to drive. I don't care if there's no power and I'd prefer it that way. I've seen how the employees drive

I was at a surplus store the other day picking up stuff for a trip and the little Korean lady running it had a G-wagen out front! I had no idea there was that kind of money in the business.

No doubt about the current automatics. However, the gt500 has a hydraulic clutch so its not nearly as bad and is drivable for me. I'll stick with my 3rd pedal for as long as I can.

Current hydro clutches i can handle, it was just the 03 termi clutch that got me.

The mach 1 basically used a naturally aspirated version of the terminator engine (minus the forged internals), the 4 valve 4.6 as opposed to the 2 valve in your regular GT. They made 305 HP. Certainly not as fast as your LS1, but the 4.10 gears really helped him narrow the gap until high MPH, where im sure you started pulling away.

Ford moved to hydraulic clutches in 05 with the release of the S197 chassis.

The clutch in the Civic Si and other manual trims is also really soft. They really over boosted the slave cylinder on that compared to older and other manuals.

@Scarlett Johansson currently has two cars. A Mercedes GLC 250 and an Audi Q5 2012.

Anyone remember hummers lmao

I have a friend that has an H2 he got for like 6k used and he's essentially gutted it, stuffed it with the suspension and 4x4 axles/diffs from a K5 blazer with Escalade seats. Shit is kinda fuckin awesome tbh. Its heavy as fuck, but it handles on par with my Land Cruiser and its just as comfortable.
