Am I the only one who finds it Ironic that SJWs Are Virtue Signalling and masturbating over a Character who's part of a Genocidal Space Army, even more funny when I've pointed out the comic version is basically Space Ayran Uber Frea, and she arrested and imprisoned a black kid (ultimate Spider-man) for a potential crime he hadn't yet committed, me I was hoping the first woman lead in these Marvel Movies would be She-Hulk or Squirrel Girl instead we get a wooden bimbo with no moral centre basically a female Terminator.

Black Widow getting her movie in MCU next phase (either a "stronk woman" prequel again or a movie with the version of Black Widow as of Infinity War), They erased Monica Rambeau the Black woman Captain Marvel for what we got, I hope Shazam utterly crushes Captain Marvel in the box office, calling Captain Marvel "Space Mulan" is dumb when Mulan had sympathetic moments and more of a character arc that Brie Larson abomination.
Remember the guys getting slaughted while trying to stop Ronan from landing? I looked up who was the Nova Corps in the MCU after reading that they are in Endgame and turns out they are the Nova Corps (going from the Marvel equivalent of the Green Lanterns to red shirts, sheesh), everything not good since the build up to Civil War needs retconning, keep the good and fit it in the timeline in a way that makes sense.
Bill Maher is an insane asshole, Fuck Feige, the MCU has joined all the pozzed Disney properties
I had expectations the Captain Marvel movie was going to be awful and it still sounds much worse than i imagined, anyone comparing Ripley and/or SC to Marey Sue and Carol Danvers is a legit ret.ard and any one wants to bet Kevin Feige boner for Captain Carol (Ain't nothing to marvel at here)will cause him to at least double down and force the Russo to make her even more op to satisfy his sjwism?

(Yes i have to post this long because FUCK going back over the 40+ pages i have read yesterday and today to reply to every post invidually, that would take at least hours)

So, saw it last night. The audience count was pretty average; laughed every 5 mintues which puzzled me. The movie wasnt as cleverly tongue in cheek as other marvel movies are. I got tired of the ‘haha 90s how funny!’ joke after the first time. Brie Larson’s line delivery is absolutely deadpan. As far as her character goes she’s dull and average, and while she is OP there isnt really there to me that suggests she can take on Thanos.

While it isnt awful its painfully average and not worth all the fuss the promotion lead it to be. 4/10 would much rather have seen two hours of Nick Fury cooing at the kitty.

Space Mulan would've actually been a good movie

So judging from our experiences and what most reviews are saying, it feels like people would've enjoyed this lifeless flick a lot more if it had been a Nick Fury movie instead.

What's the origin of the "Captain Marvel" name in the movie? In the comics she's just borrowing what Mar-Vell called himself, which started as people mispronouncing his name, and they've joked about the fact that Carol's rank in the Air Force was Major so she should be "Major Marvel" if anything.

Fury said the name wrong and claimed it sounded more natural that way because of a group he was a fan of. I don't recall if he actually gave her that name or not, but that's how it's brought up.

So I know quite a few people who went to see this movie, for a variety of reasons. Some were excited to "stick it to the sexists," some were "I can't wait to see this dumpster fire," and some were "It's a Marvel movie, of course I'm going to see it regardless of how excited I am."

Not a single person has reported a positive thing back to me. The reactions have ranged from "meh" to "horrible." Haven't heard a single word of praise (and definitely not a single word of praise about the lead character) ... Lots of pissed off comic book nerds over the mishandling of the Skrulls, and lots of people confused about the MCU's continuity now.

Disney and Marvel's marketing for this movie was genius. It's so easy to see why it made this much money on opening weekend. For almost a year now, we've all been told that we HAD to see it to understand what was going on in Avengers: Endgame, and this movie comes out a mere six weeks before Endgame. Curious Marvel fans were led to believe that they had no choice but to see this film in theaters ('cause it wouldn't have been released on digital, Netflix, Redbox, etc. on time for Endgame). Perfect timing, perfect marketing, etc.

Disney made sure it had its ducks in a row because I think they know that this movie isn't up to par with literally ALL of the rest of the MCU movies. I feel like they know that the word of mouth wasn't going to be the best, and I feel like they know that there's the high chance of the box office having no legs. I'm curious to see the drop next week.

My gut feeling is that it's really possible Captain Carol will get a power up in Endgame because of Feige the Pozzed forcing the Russo brothers to satisfy his boner of her being the strongest.

It's more and more like the MCU was a mistake in the long term

Letting the media gin up some controversy didn't hurt either. Most general audiences would just hear "Captain Marvel" or "new Marvel movie" and finalize their plans for the weekend.

I'm pretty sure that ALL of the Avengers struggled in Infinity War ...
Well yeah, fighting Thanos.

I'm just saying it's kind of unfair to call Captain Marvel "op" when almost everything she does is something we've seen other characters do with comparable effort. Black Widow kills just as many mooks as she does without even the benefit of being an elite space soldier trained by aliens and having Infinity Stone powers.

I saw it, it was alright. I put it in kind of the middle of the road MCU movies like Dr Strange. I have next to no knowledge of Danvers though, just the barest whiff of her origin.

More specific:
  • I know nothing of Mar-Vell so don't really care they he was erased and replaced with a completely unrelated character.
  • Fury losing an eye to a space-cat was dumb. The space cat was just dumb failed attempt at humor.
  • The greatest atrocity of the film was making the Skrulls into not bad people. Like shit mother fuckers, they are usually pretty handily worse than the Kree. But I've kinda accepted the MCU taking radical lefts like that, I disliked Winter Soldier the first time I saw it because Shield got trashed before it was even a thing(the show is trash I should know I've watched 6(5? I'm not 100% it feels like a lot) seasons of it.
  • The misogyny montage was stupid and soured what I thought was actually a good moment, when Carol got her memories back of who she was, someone who never quit and got back up again.
  • God damn that all Stan Lee in the Marvel Logo opening fucking got me man :'(

Edit Ghetto quote to not double post:

I'd agree. I'd say she's weaker than Thor with the axe. Above Iron Man in raw strength, but not by a ton.

Getting stomped isn't a struggle. The MCU's fights tend to be very lopsided in general. Heros stomp or get stomped, not a lot of drawn out really close calls where the people are absolutely wailing on each other. One side or the other is accomplishing absolutely nothing. Only the Netflix Daredevil really got that right.
