In a recent presentation for the new Resident Evil engine, Capcom included a slide which clarified their position on PC mods.

In their presentation, Capcom colors PC gaming as risky due to the ability of users to mod, edit, and cheat the game software. The company goes as far as to say: “PC games give a high degree of freedom, but they are also free to be tampered with!”

Capcom released their entire 50 minute presentation on Anti-Cheat and Anti-Piracy measures


While cheating can become a problem in competitive games, many Capcom games benefit from mods such as quality of life mods in Monster Hunter, client-side cosmetics in Street Fighter or Resident Evil, and more.

What this will mean for upcoming Capcom projects has yet to be seen.

That’s a simple fix called, have officials check before the match starts.

That has nothing to do with single players controlling their own game. They’re the majority anyways.

The decay started with MK X (some say 9 but I will be devil's advocate and say it still maintained most of its identity yet) and all this talk about the females not "dressing up like sluts anymore"...like, for real? It kind of climaxed with MK 11 and 1.

Its the stories that also changed. MK wasnt a "happy" franchise, especially in the 3D era that had the good guys mostly losing, all resulting in Armaggedon ending (at least originally) with the implication things will likely get even worse. MK 9 was already cheating by having Shao Kahn winning without much explanation as to how we got here. MK1 is now full of quips and jokes and MCU tier writing (Fuck, Cage builds a cinematic universe in his ending...absolute cringe). Almost all of our sinister villains are now good guys or at least anti-heroes.

All this focus on a "cinematic" normie-approved angle was a death sentence.
 
It's fucking mindblowing how you can install a giant bronze statue of a black homeless man spreading his prolapsed anus in the middle of town and everyone will clap but if a fictional character has some cleavage lynch mobs form and the entire world shits itself in rage.

It is so fucking weird man.
 
Capcom back in the 90s would have been 100% fine with lewd shit being made of their characters since they're the company that gave us Darkstalkers as well as OVAs that showed off Chun-Li in the nude.

Nowadays, you have troons, faggots, ugly women and generally repulsive shit. I'm certain they're more mad about them beautifying their changes than the lewd stuff. Because they would have gone all-in on Zangief's dick flopping about during a fight.

Series had Deadly Alliance, which killed off their main good guy in the beginning intro *and* concluded with the bad guys winning, and then followed up with Deception, introducing an even bigger, badder main bad guy that wipes out Raiden and the Deadly Alliance, starting off even bleaker than how DA ended. This all leads to Armageddon, in which everybody is out for themselves, and if you choose to follow from there, it's revealed that Shao Khan won in the end.

MK9 might've been the series at it's peak imo, shit got even worse for the good guys cause now they had individual chapters to get to know them better, and then almost all of them get killed off by the end of the story

Fast forward to MK1, look at all the shit on youtube "The MOST HECKIN WHOLESOME intros!" "Fighters RESPECTING each other!" "The SADDEST intros!" For fuck's sake, they already obliterated any stakes in this world by establishing a fucking multiverse (one of the worst fucking literary concepts to come out recently) and now everybody's gotta be friends with each other in a game where you pop skulls open for fun

All I know is, most of the time it isn't the Japanese doing proper and documented preservation projects for their own media. It's very strange.

Well it implied from the offset Shao Kahn basically won, or was at least one of the top potential contenders to obtain the "ultimate power."

Liu Kang was getting stale leading to repeat "Liu Kng plot armors everyone" which made many fans awed by the surprise twist. Even if DA was kind of shitty in a lot of other ways, and Deception most considered solid at the time with a lot of interesting parts too it.

To be fair the only problem I have with MK9 is how they didn't really shake up the events of MK1-3 as much as they could have with reverse events. It was heavily squandered and the remake music was pretty lackluster too for the most part.

Sadly Capcom has been moving in a shit direction for years, lack of news on a Dark Stalkers remake (IE: It's not happening feels bad) and all these other series are basically making their games for hipsters and non-fans MK1 which I passed on reminds me of this. It's really sad watching gaming become a joke.

Honestly, fuck them. There is that Banned Mods site, just upload everything there and tell Capcom to shove it. Everytime they DMCA a site, prop up another 2 in a never ending Hydra, start setting up torrents for them to make their lives miserable too. I've had just about enough of that company, especially with their latest push to Westernize their games again, this time it means making them gayer and soulless, not just shit.
