In a recent presentation for the new Resident Evil engine, Capcom included a slide which clarified their position on PC mods.

In their presentation, Capcom colors PC gaming as risky due to the ability of users to mod, edit, and cheat the game software. The company goes as far as to say: “PC games give a high degree of freedom, but they are also free to be tampered with!”

Capcom released their entire 50 minute presentation on Anti-Cheat and Anti-Piracy measures


While cheating can become a problem in competitive games, many Capcom games benefit from mods such as quality of life mods in Monster Hunter, client-side cosmetics in Street Fighter or Resident Evil, and more.

What this will mean for upcoming Capcom projects has yet to be seen.

my nieces are 5 and 9. these morality police act like them. you know what i do when they fight. i tell them to seperate and go to your own corners, dont talk to each other or touch each other.

Remember the leaks where Capcom talked about looking to The Last of Us 2 as inspiration in being diverse and inclusive? I do.
 
Overwatch felt the same about Rule 34 art and it took R34 artists to crack their encrypted 3D models or whatever in just 4 days. Does Capcom really think they can pose a challenge?

From what I can tell the Sherry mods are pretty hidden (they exist, someone had put up one of those file-share links on /v/ once); the reason why the Spider-Man mod got so much flack was it was public.

The real question is whose "morals" are you playing by? It's certainly not Christian or even culturally religious, if you're heavily pro-LGBT and all that...

I'm surprised the mainstream mod sites don't feature it prominently. Maybe they're waiting for a trooned Sherry mod first.

If you press someone on where their morals come from they'll crumble if not religious, generally deflecting or scoffing.

They are straight up making the case for banning them entirely. The public image "threat" through confusion excuse sure sounds a lot like soyny's internet requiring "global standards" shit doesn't it?

Capcom proving that despite all the woke and SJ bullshit they took on, they are still a Japanese company. Japan has INSANE CR and IP laws. You aren't even allowed to use things like GameShark or AA because it modifies code and thus violates company's CR protections. They view things like modding with horror in actuality.

The sad part is that while nobody was allowed to pay attention, most of the modding sites and fandom went either woke, censorious or both. A lot of the ones who didn't go woke, play right along with claims against sexy mods. When not outright killing them themselves. Especially targeting... anime/japanese style games. (who would have guessed)

Those articles by feminist twats and game media back a decade or so ago, trying to shame the mod community and create a sort of panic about "sexist" (sexy) mods being everywhere, seems to have worked. So don't expect modding sites or media to fight back on this mentality here. In fact they are more likely to proactively ban them themselves for their own reasons.

Remember.. There can be no escape from there subversion and destruction of media. That defeats the whole point!


Also reason #5471 why CR laws need to be burned to the ground and then at some point replaced with something sane more along the lines as they are originally meant to be. (A temp protection for a few years, affecting literally only copy of the work in large part) To defang crap like this. Never forget why we should never allow a treaty with Japan on CR laws. Gaming is only part of it to be sure.

I actually don't have a problem with this. It's time that gaming went back underground so there is more freedom as to what's allowed to be uploaded, the nigger cattle can have their watered down shit nobody else plays. We're already somewhat there, with the big gap between woke triple A games and indies/double A titles or even fangames. Of course, heavy gatekeeping would have to be utilized to prevent troons and other undesirables inside, but the likes of based.mods are looking promising.
 
Corpos need to learn that this is a war they can't win. While they might have a team of paid programmers at beck and call to try and stop this shit, they don't understand that the other side literally does it for free out of passion. When the paid guns are sleeping, the passion driven programmers are working. When the paid guns are moved away, the passion driven programmers are still working.
