I'm just a person on the outside looking in, but as an American who's been observing Canada's behavior for the past several years, it baffles me they care so much more about the US than they do their own damn country, to the point they're willing to screw themselves over if it means getting to stick it to their southern neighbor.
I mean, just look at the election results last year. The Liberal Party had been running Canada into the ground for a decade at that point, and the one time they get an opportunity to vote them out and get someone more competent in, they choose to keep them just to spite Donald Trump. No, I'm not kidding. If you look up polls for the election, you'll see the most common reason Canadians voted for the Liberal Party was so they could fight back against Trump. TDS has the power to affect other countries' elections and make them worse.
And now you have Canadians raging over the Olympic ice hockey results, not because they lost their most iconic sport, but because they lost specifically to the US. I literally can't think of any other group of people that's obsessed with somewhere they don't live as much as Canadians are towards Americans. Not even leftists in the US are this obsessed about Ukraine and Palestine.
Honestly, with how much Canada has grown to hate the United States, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to declare war on us. If that did happen though, I'm sure we'd beat their ass into the ground.
