There is a divide because the Boomers grew up with post-WWII modernist movements that literally destroyed much of our heritage. Most of us grew up not knowing the beauty of Latin hymns, pipe organ music, and Baroque altars, instead we had felt banners held together by Elmer's Glue and Walmart altars. Sorry Boomers, the youth don't like Bob Dylan guitar hymns and priests acting like counterfeit Jordan Petersons. Yikes.
Sorry if it get's personal but the parish I grew up in was literally hijacked after the residential schools headlines, the European priest got replaced by a Pajeet Jordan Peterson, it was already unbearable, it just got worse. Thanks Boomers, great job. Wow. So nice.
The generational divide exists for many reasons but exactly because the Boomers had the world handed to them on a silver platter and they decided to take a dump on it.
Don't lecture me on my religion.
If you want to be an actual catholic, follow the Church. The papacy gave people the option of holding mass in the vernacular, or in the traditional Latin mass. You can go to any community that you wish to experience either. If youre in Ontario, I can point out numerous churches that still hold the Latin mass, for example. There are reasons for changing the homily and majority of the mass to the vernacular, so more could evangelize and share in the Christ's miracle.
Thats just aesthetics, however.
If its, the Indians are catholic but I don't recognize them- we are all called to Christ as his children, equal under god. You're picking the wrong cloak to try and garb your views. I'm not even agreeing or disagreeing with the racism, I don't frankly care- but I am stating, every time I see a 'tradcath' online, its usually the most innane groyper shit that you'd see on twitter, with 'Deus Veult, we need to crusade to save the West'
and its just as cringy as a reddit fedora atheist coming in to declare 'Wow, thank science', except its used to try and add flavor to some of the worst political takes (and badly, in a way which ignores the compassion, humility, and servitude of the christ and the saints that we are called to emulate).

Whether you dislike Pajeet Jordan Peterson or not, and when did the parish call upon you to denigrate your fellow man? I get it, but like - if its catholicism, you realize we are a global church, and this is embraced by
the papacy. You need to look elsewhere.
Its not even about the Elmer's glue or paper mache or whatever. People get lost on the aesthetics, and ignore the substance of whats within. Its like talking to someone who saw the last crusade and bemoans that the blood of Christ was in the pauper's cup when God himself choose a life of servitude and suffering. There's a time and place for grandeur, I see it when Im in South Europe, but I digress.
Harper was the best placeholder in a sea of Mulroney, Chrétien, Trudeaus and Carneys.
When was the last time we actually had a decent Prime Minister? I can't think of any. Pierre Trudeau's legacy of constitutionally entrenched multiculturalism is the reason why your child is going to grow up in a sea of Mohammads, and Gurwinders.
You're not going to like this, but probably Trudeau Sr
is the one youre looking for. While I dislike the guy for reasons, hes probably the most consequential prime minister we had over the 20th century. He renegotiated and reformed native affairs from the ground up, crushed the FLQ, integrated Quebec, 'modernized' Canada with the charter, it was under his watch that Toronto grew into a financial hub, etc.
If its multiculturalism, hes the one who actually negated most of the Indian act and tried to integrate the natives as fellow citizens first, modernizing most of the treaties (except in BC). Its why the fed is able to act in certain ways on reserves. If its multiculturalism, he had a moderate approach with limited migration, and helped cement the
points based system, which used to be the pride of the nation.
He's not the reason we grew up in a sea of Mohammads or Gurwinders- though his progeny will be.
Even then though- youre right, most prime ministers are simply 'placeholders'. They maintain the status quo other past prime ministers made.
Diefenbaker is a favourite of mine, among others- but we really havn't had any actual consequential prime ministers in forever.
