In one step from here, in a few weeks? Sure, likely not. But, you don't seem to understand just how retarded our government is. Let me give some examples of scenarios that are entirely possible and would result in annexation:
  • Trudeau doubles down when Trump doubles down -> Repeat a few times -> Refuses to negotiate with orange man -> Starts selling uranium to China and orders nukes to be made -> Invaded -> Annexed to secure national safety of USA
  • Trudeau spits in Trumps face when Trump backs down ("Bro are you crazy let's talk" "No") -> Seeks Chinese nuclear umbrella (this is literally happening already) -> China gets small military presence in Canada -> Canada is seen as vassal state to China -> Glowniggers start some shit as a pretext -> Invaded -> Annexed to prevent Chinese influence in NA
  • Tariffs absolutely devastate the economy -> Widespread civil unrest once food is low -> Some provinces try to leave and join other nations -> Martial law -> Illegal border crossings spike along with asylum claims -> "Special Military Operation" on USA's part begins to stop the collapse of Canada -> Annexed to prevent failed state from threatening US borders
...and so on. The pattern here should be obvious.

Do I think Trump will let it get this bad on purpose? No, he's not retarded. Do I think Trudeau would cut our nose off to spite the USA? Yes. Do I think the people here are dumb enough to self-immolate out of misplaced pride? Absolutely yes. There are a number of hypothetical scenarios that could happen in the next months to years that would prompt the USA to annex this country simply for its own safety, and all of them are the result of our government's failures rather than any true motivation on Trump's part.

So yes, it's a non-zero chance. I'm trying to be optimistic here and say it's not all that likely yet since Trump is way less retarded than Trudeau and may try to calm the situation down, but our "government" (read: parasitic class) probably sees a golden opportunity to rob the treasury and blame someone else for all the fuckery they've done in the last decade to ruin this place and I don't know if they care enough about the future to not take it.
 
The USA has had an on again off again idea of annexing Canada. Its been a part of our culture since the founding, and rears it's head all the time. It's modern iteration being more tongue and cheek things like the South Park Movie and the Fallout video games. But there has always been a sort of consensus in thought if not practice that eventually Canada will join the Union in due time. The idea has just been on low simmer in America due to the Cold War and then the War on Terror causing America's attention to be focused on Asia rather then North America.

Now with both the Terror War and the Cold War falling to history and America going through it's usual isolationist cycle that it runs through every few political generations it's come up again.

Probably at the worst time for Canada though, as you guys are coming off one of the worst Premierships in decades, with compounding social crisis in housing and immigration and a jack booted suppression of Canadian nationalists just a few years ago. Trudeau calling for Canadian nationalism now is pretty ironic.

Canada has no loyalty to it's people, gleefully selling our futures and jobs off to foreigners who are overtly replacing us. Why should I show loyalty in the face of such treachery?

The Canada I would have fought for died before I was even born.

This is fundamentally not true. It will be worse because you will be given substandard rights as a second rate colony state. This is a country that will primarily vote Democrat so why would he absorb 20 to 40 million more voters who disagree with him and give them voting rights and the same monetary funding that the central states get? It is easier to bankrupt the entire country and not give any of them a choice so they are so desperate they are begging to join America. Why would you want to bankrupt yourself into unrecoverable poverty and have the nationality on your passport stripped to tell the world you're from a second rate colony state.

Self defense is not equivalent to hate speech and I agree our criminal laws are lax and many conservative politicians would agree those laws are too lax and want to make strides in being harsher on crime.

Our tax dollars go to immigrants but they also go to the pogey for fishermen on the east coast during winter, forestry workers on the west coast, social assistance for every failed to launch white family, several (literally several) programs that ensure seniors are not living in destitute poverty, programs for subsidized housing (wait list is long but to remove this program puts tens of thousands on the street), programs for child care and children from lower income families, it also goes to access to hospitals and doctors and in some cases, dental for low income - yes, immigrants have taken advantage of these social programs and that is why all politicians are now in agreement to slow immigration and begin removing people overstaying visas. All of these programs and social initiatives will be removed to be replaced with objectively worse programs that have less support of the individual.

"They" may have stifled advancements but the native party of interests will literally become violent if not negotiated with. The natives need re-education, again, to keep us progressing. We need to break down interprovincial trade barriers and regulations to begin progression. Luckily, this can be done.

A convoy supporter will die a convoy supporter though because there is so much emotionally invested. You asked me to present without emotional attachment but you are already biased based on how you feel about the convoy and are unlikely to consider any other view points because your political identity is based around this event. I personally think the convoy was wrong and have argued that in this very thread but I know the supporters are so die hard that it is incredibly easy to turn them MAGA because their doctrine is to already be disconnected from the country based on their beliefs through the convoy. I cannot mention the convoy without chuds breaking into hysterics about how peaceful and wonderful and reasonable the protest was and that they're actually unsung Canadian heroes who stood up for our rights even though historical data indicates no political decisions about the pandemic were made during the protest and anything that did occur about the pandemic was already scheduled weeks to months in advance as to how the pandemic would wind down. So it's a bunch of uninformed people who were upset about mandates who are now running into the arms of Donald Trump to be mandated into a second class citizen openly. This alone makes the convoy a joke in hindsight.

I do not believe convoy supporters ever wanted what was best for the country nor did they care about Canadians as they are literally the first ones to jump ship when Trump comes calling. If they actually cared about this country, they would be the first ones to erect their God forsaken bouncy castles outside of Canadian Tire in SUPPORT of the country. But they never supported the country, they just hated Trudeau.

I think the "Big Problem" with the trucker convoy was not so much the context, but th fact that regular, or "regular", people had tried too protest/use their voice/horn and had been stamped out quicker than any Palestine/Muslim vs Sikh/pipeline protest in recent history (that I know of, will take references)

Look at the wetsuweten (however you spell it) protest that lasted well over 6 months. Police were there, as well as CBC and every other outcrier to try too show "brutality" but all it showed me personally on how much "blue tape" we as citizens have too deal with in order too produce trade.

Meanwhile, trucker protest, everyone's laying on their horns and being generally peaceful in comparison, and the government used every trick they had too stamp out any sense of resistance.

You wallow and moan about the current state, which I understand. And I understand how some people have felt slighted against with our current government. What's been opened in my view is how we slowly got "ourselves" in too this mess. The question is what will you do as an individual for yourself/ your community/ your country. Personally I can only see myself helping up too a community, as the country I live in has abandoned our ideas long ago.

Again, same rhetoric of how it was super peaceful. The natives didn't bring 250+ 35,000 pound eighteen wheelers, some of which had empty box containers you would have no idea what was inside, with several hundred reports of local residents being harassed while trying to walk home or having property vandalized with an entire major city block shut down. If the natives bring 35,000 pounds of steel and metal to their next protest, I hope the government stomps them down too as I do not need a rogue native with an empty container they filled with homemade pipe bombs to drive into the middle of their ultra peaceful super cool protest and blow everyone up. But you want 250 unchecked 35k lb vehicles right beside parliament in the middle of the capital city and you want them to not see that as an active threat? Sorry, no. If you roll up to my place with 5 18 wheelers and park them outside my house, scream about how you hate me and lay on the horn for multiple hours overnight? It's so deeply suspicious that a major liberal talking point is that "Canadian identity doesn't exist", only for allegedly non-leftys to parrot the same talking point as proof that they should lie down and spread ass for American interests because... You’re missing the difference with Puerto Rico since Canadians are White it will go down faster to bring a state than Puerto Rico.

Also if you subdivide the provinces into additional states you get red leaning / purple if not outright red states.

The only areas that would be democrat strongholds are the Canadian cities and those you can just make an exception for. Or do something like Maine or Nebraska where the city gets one separate EC vote while the rest of the countryside goes red

Elected officials need to have the fear of god put into them by their constituents
