We can only hope to be so lucky. If Canada starts to collapse Trump will likely be forced to intervene because we have a very big undefended boarder and it would be easier to shoot the Laurentian idiots then build a wall.
I'd say it entirely depends on whether or not the fuckheads in Ottawa decide to pretend to do their jobs and come back from vacation early. If yes, maybe it'll take a bit. If no, I think we'll have a pretty sharp descent because it'll be clear to everyone (especially the USA) that we have no fucking government whatsoever.I'm not quite sure if i'll notice right away
Honestly that's likely because of Danielle Smith actually being respectful to Trump and trying to work with him. I don't really want to suffer from the children in Ontario crashing the economy, and this is a good sign that Trump will be fair to those that at least try to work with him.The only thing disappointing for me about this is that Trump isn't hitting oil and gas immediately, and when he does, coming in at a lower rate. I want Ottawa and our federal parties to get a rude wake up call, I want the near certainty that some Liberal moron will convince Sock Boy to implement energy export taxes (because they all go into federal coffers) and induce the next Alberta unity crisis. We came close with the Trans Mountain pipeline, the handling of these tariffs may finally be the trigger.
Also any major shock would force the Libs to recall Parliament early because lmao at holding off on tariff relief for two months while watching Ontario's manufacturing sector potentially get gutted. Good luck banking on Carney for a miracle election win if Upper Canada decides to double down on Tory blue.
Yep I just hope the Canadian Oven (upper) Middle class gets fuckedI'm not quite sure if i'll notice right away. Things will get more expensive yes, but they are doing that anyways to the point that I haven't been buying much stuff.
None of the Failsons of the Laurentian Elite (we don’t even have competent members of the Laurentian Elite / Family compact anymore that may have had some semblance of Noblesse oblige) have even bothered to read Trump’s the Art of the Deal in the past 10 years trump has been a political figure.Honestly that's likely because of Danielle Smith actually being respectful to Trump and trying to work with him. I don't really want to suffer from the children in Ontario crashing the economy, and this is a good sign that Trump will be fair to those that at least try to work with him.
The average Canadian is fucking retarded bro. If they have thoughts about this at all, it's "orange man bad" and "oh they're gonna be sorry they messed with us!". I live here, I can assure you of that.Does the average Canadian actually think this move is going to accomplish more than that?
It bewilders me that anyone could possibly think that way. Don't they realise the sheer economic and population imbalance between Canada and American? 40 million people to over 300 million. There's more people in the latter than the former by a pratical order or magnitude. California alone is home to just as people as Canada, and commands a far most robust economy too. How could anyone believe that this quaint little service economy, literally bound to the hip to the most powerful nation on Earth, could go one-on-one against them in a tariff war with numbers like that? The average Canadian is fucking retarded bro. as someone pointed out earlier, even China doesn't want a trade war with the US, and they're arguably the nation with the best shot to go toe to toe with them.It bewilders me that anyone could possibly think that way. I'm from Down Under. And I can guarantee you everybody here knows full well that we tread lightly around China for the same reason. For better or for worst. How can that be common knowledge here. but someone so many Canadians are blissfully ignorant of? Fucking Australia, a country so similar to Canada, that we're functionally just the Great White North if you lived in a scorching desert instead of a frozen tundra. Can fully comprehend this, but the average Canadian urban shitlib cannot? No wonder your elites are walking you towards economic oblivion with shiteating smiles on their faces.
I apologise for my sperging, but it's hard to describe in any less words how little sense your Laurentide overlords reaction to Trump's tarriffs make. Especially from the perspective of an outsider looking in.
Michigander here, despite being in a region directly impacted by Canada cutting off energy exports, I don't feel any fear, it seems like the overwhelmingly likely outcome is that our electricity bills are higher for a little while and then we localize our power grid and take away Canadian leverage for the future. Does the average Canadian actually think this move is going to accomplish more than that? Do any of your politicians actually believe they're not just bluffing to their constituents? I have friends and family in Canada and it's been very depressing following along and hearing about the decline for this last decade, I'm praying for all you good leafs to weather this storm
