As for hundreds of local communities laughing at truckers, there are probably many with silent support. Anyone with working class sympathizes would likely at least understand it.

Unions exist to protect the workers in a specific industry and most political causes are parties appealing to various segments of the population. It's a hundred niche causes all uniting to get a party elected.

The people most upset were the owner/operators who had poor business sense and depended on breaking a lot of rules before Covid to make timely deliveries

I'm talking about them using social media, where most of the convoy started including Telegram and WhatsApp groups but also Twitter and Facebook. I'm saying Russian bots were involved in spreading misinformation and stoking the fires of already disenfranchised people

Edit: It's likely gonna be the last response from me, it's clear you didn't really reason your way into this as much as you want to fit in with some imaginary group you believe all think x. You can't really talk someone out of something when they desperately want to fit in with such a group.
To put it this way: It's a lot like a teenager refusing to wear a raincoat, because he believes it will make him look uncool, his own individuality and comfort goes after wanting to fit in. Of course most of the time it's all in his head. He didn't reason himself into freezing in the rain, and you didn't reason your way into hating the convoy people, it's all in your head wishing to please a group that might not even know you exist. The convoy people were there because they wanted the best, for themselves, for their family and for their friends, all of which likely approves of what they did, regardless of what some person in a city far away think. They have developed their own individuality first and foremost and realizes what truly matters. Hopefully one day you decide to fight battles you care about even if people you don't really care about look down on you. Until then, you'll be stuck appealing to group consensus.
