Canada is a failed state

The way I picture the US, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to be closer to what Canada was before 2019. Not really ideal, certainly giving millennials and zoomers a raw deal, it has its own crises in small towns and the rust belt- but theres also economic vibrancy in certain areas, and much more opportunity.
I agree that America has a lot more economic opportunity, but its permanent black underclass does screw up every city. It is why Canada used to be better.

But of course major cities in Canada now have the exact same problem due to us importing it over the last few decades. I mean we all know why Jane and Finch is a bad area.

I went on a trip to Great Falls, MT last year and was... underwhelmed by the selection. In terms of pop there was certainly more as I bought a case each of Dr. Pepper Strawberries & Cream and Cherry, but nothing that particularly grabbed me. Cereals were pretty much similar, though I was intrigued by the flavors of Pop-Tarts like Boston Cream. Frankly, the only thing that really stood out to me was cheesecake-flavored pudding from Jell-O.

Then again, Great Falls sits in the most desolate parts in the USA so selections may vary elsewhere.
If you're shopping at a Jungle Jim's in Cinncinatti or Winco in a suburb outside of Dallas, or even HEB in Austin or a really nice Publix in let's say Orlando/Miami area you're going to have a huge selection that's probably better than any store in Ontario.
On the other hand if you're going to the local Walmart about 80% of the products will be carried at the local Walmart regardless of where you are whether its Matamoros Mexico, the GTA of canada or Duncan Oklahoma Walmart is pretty consistent.

That the entire thing Glows
At worst it glows, at best it's a trad rights version of #occupy.
This shit glows like a Christmas tree at night.

Is there ever any winning.

Agree in principle, but there are exceptions to every rule.

I've definitely picked up Great Value brand food products in the States at Wally World, only to return home to look up if the Canadian subsidiary carried the same product.

Sometimes not only is there not a knockoff brand domestically north of 49, but often the entire product category isn't available at all.

This shit glows like a Christmas tree at night. Bank accounts will be frozen, doxxing will occur and Carney will blame “harmful online rhetoric” to help scare people into signing and supporting the online harms act.
And if it doesn't: Canadians voted for it 4 times in a row. Its the will of the people to go down in flames. Give em what they want.

It’s so hard to see what’s happening everywhere. Husband and I are trying to figure out what to do and I feel like we are paralyzed with indecision. We do have options but it’s hard to know what to do.

Sorry about the TLDR, but the innawoods locals here can’t fathom moving to the states, I can’t really talk about it to my local friends, and my family’s ruptured since Covid.

Husband has American citizenship via his Mayflower Vietnam vet dad, who went to a Canadian college on the GI bill and fell in love with a Canadian girl and they raised their kids here. Husband’s never lived in the US, and we don’t have many connections there.

I have family and aging parents here, we’ve lived on the same patch of dirt since the late 1800s. He and I both have cozy WFH jobs, it’s like being semiretired. We live in a tiny town and the bad changes haven’t come here yet and the community is very close, but it wouldn’t take much to overwhelm the area if we ever caught the eye of Sauron.

We have liquid assets and the farm is mostly paid off. Everything is how I like it. But what kind of country is my kid growing up in, and what kind of opportunities will he have?

My husband is getting that itchy feeling that we need to go, but we really have no idea where or what we would do. We are both in IT but too old to get new IT jobs. Husband also has a chronic disease that I assume would make health care A Problem.

We need to make a decision. Next year we are planning to build an addition for my mom to retire into, once that happens we will be pretty committed.

The local small town lawyer moved her family to Texas, and my neighbours literally can’t understand why. It’s weird that they can’t see how close the problems are, even if they aren’t here yet.

I'm also anticipating someone to mass runover protesters, either from a Glow or someone doing a "revenge on society" attack that is becoming more and more frequent in China.

The only people who make this argument are white liberals and almost never natives themselves. Yes I'm sure they'd want even more invaders, makes complete sense.

"This is stolen land. Let us invite more people from Eurasia to live on this stolen land with us"

Of course, the white liberal lumps all non-white people into one homogenous group of "black and brown bodies".

It can and will hit suddenly. I live in a town that was virtually jeet free. Very small place, mostly for retirees, only like 5k people.

Since 2020 we have like three indian restaurants, most mainstream chain stores staffed entirely by indians, and roving packs of them in town.
